Chapter 110: The Babylon Faction

At that precise mont, a new notification brutally imposed itself on his attention.

[Evelyn Greycastle recognizes you after years. She hates you.]

Kaiser stopped dead.

"Huh? Who?"

His gaze beca more attentive. It wasn’t anger, but genuine surprise. He thought quickly. Having spent years trapped in the rift, he had lost precious ti. Ti that should have been devoted to networking, alliances, constructive rivalries. Normally, he knew how to attract attention. Arrogance worked. Insults and especially humiliation against proud elves were almost too easy.

The worst thing that could happen to him was indifference.

That was also why he hadn’t obtained a new skill for so long. His Level-headed had even dropped in rank.

But the heiress of the Greycastle duchy...

That, he hadn’t anticipated.

The Paragons had always maintained complex relations with the Donoghan, the Frostvine, and even the Hornraven when it ca to engagents or political alliances.

’I have no connection with the Greycastle. Why hate

now?’

He frowned slightly.

’I should dig into this. And above all, understand which faction the Greycastle duchy supports.’

Without wasting more ti, Kaiser resud walking, his mocking smile back on his face.

"Well, there are no others..."

Kaiser didn’t have ti to finish his sentence. A dagger shot out from behind him. He leaned to the side on reflex, the blade grazing his shoulder without touching him. In the sa motion, he spun around and launched a quick kick toward his attacker.

The impact was clean. The opponent barely had ti to cross his forearms in front of his face to take the hit. He slid back two steps, carving grooves in the earth behind him.

Kaiser observed him calmly.

Ears slightly shorter than a dark elf’s. Dark complexion. Slim but athletic build.

’It’s probably a half-breed: dark elf and human.’

Ragnar remained silent. His eyes analyzed every detail: posture, breathing, foot positioning. He didn’t speak. He threw two throwing blades almost simultaneously, aiming for the throat and abdon.

Kaiser took a step forward.

An invisible push exploded around him. The projectiles were deflected to the side and embedded themselves in a nearby trunk. The ground cracked under his feet as he propelled himself slightly backward, creating distance.

"Huh!? What is that, telekinesis?"

Ragnar disappeared imdiately.

Kaiser looked up.

"No, it’s just aura."

Ragnar frowned.

"You’re giving

information about your abilities? Either you’re stupid or you despise ."

Kaiser laughed: "I’d go with the second one."

Ragnar, who had been snubbed by Julian, was in a particularly bad mood. And a guy who despised him—he fully intended to make him pay for his arrogance.

"That will be your last mistake."

Kaiser felt a disturbance on his right. Without turning, he concentrated his aura in his legs.

His body jerked forward abruptly. A dagger passed through the exact spot where his nape had been a fraction of a second earlier. Kaiser spun and struck blindly with his fist.

Ragnar blocked again, but this ti the impact forced him to bend one knee. The poison on his blades had been useless.

The fight intensified.

Ragnar attacked in short sequences. Minor illusions then perception shifts with double images. He tried to force Kaiser to strike at empty air, to waste his aura. At every opening, a dagger sought a joint, a tendon, a vital point.

But Kaiser didn’t take the bait.

"The power of dark elves is always intriguing. I never would have thought it was possible to use shadow magic without demonic mana.

He propelled himself into the air, nullifying blind spots. From the sky, he observed the movents on the ground, then fell back with a punch or a knee strike. Ragnar dodged narrowly, rolled, rged back into the shadows.

The fight lasted several minutes.

Ragnar was breathing faster. Kaiser, on the other hand, remained perfectly calm. His shirt was intact. Not a drop of sweat.

A new assault. Ragnar appeared behind him, attempted a cross attack with both daggers. Kaiser blocked bare-handed, grabbed the wrists, and slamd the half-breed to the ground with a knee to the abdon.

"Fuck—Kuh!!!"

Ragnar spat blood and tried to break free.

Kaiser reappeared above him and brought his fist down on his chest. The ground cracked slightly. Ragnar lost his breath.

Kaiser stepped back.

"It’s over."

Ragnar still tried to move. His fingers trembled. His body refused to obey.

Kaiser didn’t draw his swords. He didn’t use Sundering Eclipse. For now it was unnecessary; that art consud too much endurance. He reserved it for critical situations. He knew his limits exactly: twice the first movent per day and once the second per week. His body wasn’t yet ready to withstand that surge of aura.

’Maybe when I’m an S-rank warrior, it will improve.’

[The leader of the Babylon faction is interested in you.]

Kaiser sighed softly.

"Another weirdo."

Kaiser certainly wanted to attract attention. But if possible, he wanted nothing to do with those Babylon lunatics.

***

Nox Walpurgy was sitting on the edge of a balustrade, one leg dangling in the void. His fingers tapped the tal in an irregular rhythm. His nails were painted black, chipped in places. He had many piercings on his face, his ears, his tongue which he stuck out for no particular reason, probably to lick his lips. His smile was unstable and childish. Very contradictory with the aura around him.

Norah stood beside him, leaning against a pillar. She had as many piercings as he did. Sa relaxed posture. Sa off-kilter gaze. Those who observed them quickly understood they weren’t normal. And that they had received the sa education.

Norah considered Nox her big brother not because they shared blood but because they had the sa master. The most powerful witch of Babylon.

"He’s strong."

Nox’s voice was calm, almost flat. A very strong contradiction to his crazy appearance.

"Very strong," he added after a short pause. "He destroys everything in his path without effort. Without weapons. As if it bored him." He ruffled his black hair.

Norah nodded.

"His way of using aura is strange. I’ve never seen this type of technique. But it’s also neither telekinesis nor an art. I didn’t notice he possessed mana."

Nox ran his tongue over his lips, his red eyes glowing slightly. Just like Norah, she had sclera but for difference Norah had blue irises.

He tilted his head slightly upward. "That aura repulsion technique... I’ve seen it before."

Norah turned her head toward him.

"Huh? Where? I thought you preferred improvising when you fought. You’ve started reading books on aura now?"

"Ahhrr, shut up Norah. You’re not going to piss

off for no reason. It was in our master’s books."

"What!? You know we’re not allowed—"

"Yeah, I know, I was just doing so research."

"Hmph, if you say so."
