Ding—!

[ Dear Custor, Your A/C XXXXX489778 has a credit by Transfer of 10,000,00,00.C on 20/11/28 by Bank.]

At the morning next day, Ella has credited 100 million C on my account.

Now it was ti for to give her information.

With that thought I began to type on ssage tab in my phone.

[ Thomas Johnson—]

I paused, fingers hovering over the keyboard. How would she take this? The information wasn't anything she didn't expect, but seeing it confird in writing would make it all real for her.

With a deep breath, I continued typing.

[Thomas Johnson passed away four years ago. He died at age of 54. For so unknown reason,he entered a retirent center rather than starting a new life, He lived his final years at a retirent center called Hope Haven, on the outskirts of Azurhaven. I've confird his identity. There's also a letter he left behind, addressed to you.]

I hesitated for a mont before adding the next part.

[If you'd like to see it for yourself, I can arrange a eting at Hope Haven. Otherwise, I can have the letter delivered.]

I hit send, watching the ssage disappear into the digital ether. The 100 million C had already been transferred, and now the real question was how Ella would react. Would she want to visit the place where her father spent his final years? Would she even want to read the letter?

I couldn't predict her emotions, but I had done my part. The ball was now in her court.

As I slipped my phone back into my pocket, I prepared for the day ahead.

***

Ella read the reply as she bit on her fingernails.

Imdiately, Ella face stiffened.

Dead at the age of 54.

Although she could see the words written on her smartwatch, her brain couldn't accept the information.

"...Bullshit."

Ella strongly bit down on her fingernails, causing flesh to split and blood to ooze out.

"Dead? What right does he have to die?"

Her heart felt like it was burning, as though a heavy fireball had been thrown inside it.

The trash who killed her mother and abandoned her was dead. When she finally accepted this reality, she shot up. Her eyes were filled with tears of resentnt.

She glared at the information provided by Shadow Reapers rcenary, then kicked off the ground.

The retirent center he stayed in wasn't far away.

First she used portal from Acadmy city to Azurhaven.

After reaching Azurhaven...

Ella ran as quickly as she could. The magic power inside her ford a special sequence, amplifying her physical abilities. It was the magic spell – Haste.

With this spell, she only needed 25 minutes to reach the retirent center.

[Hope Haven]

Standing in front of this sign, Ella took in a deep breath. She wiped away the tears in her eyes, then slowly turned the doorknob.

Kiiik—

An unpleasant sound rang out as the wooden door slowly opened.

First, a faint sll of dicine tickled her nose. It wasn't as bad as a hospital, but the sll of dicine was definitely present.

Ella slowly walked up to the counter, where she spotted a nurse who seed to be in her 30s.

The nurse also spotted her and asked.

"Do you need sothing?"

"Um... I'm here to find a patient. He's na is "Thomas Johnson," Ella said, her voice trembling slightly.

The nurse's expression softened as she heard the na. "Ah, Mr. Johnson," she said quietly. "I'm sorry, but Mr. Johnson passed away a few years ago."

Ella clenched her fists, already knowing the answer but still feeling the sting of hearing it again. She swallowed hard and forced herself to continue.

"I... I know. I was told he left sothing behind. A letter. I need to see it."

The nurse gave a sympathetic nod and gestured toward the hallway. "Follow , please. His morial is in the chapel."

Ella's heart pounded as she followed the nurse down the quiet, dimly lit hallway. Every step she took felt heavier than the last. The faint scent of flowers and candles lingered in the air, making her stomach churn with a mixture of emotions.

When they reached the small chapel, the nurse gestured toward a simple altar where Thomas Johnson's ashes were kept. A small box sat beside it.

"The letter is inside that box. I'll leave you alone to read it," the nurse said before quietly exiting the room.

Ella stared at the box for a long mont, her breath shaky. She didn't want to open it. She didn't want to read what that man had to say. But at the sa ti, she needed answers.

With trembling hands, she reached for the box and opened it. Inside, just as the rcenaries had said, was an old envelope with her na written on it.

Her fingers brushed the envelope gently before she tore it open and unfolded the letter. The handwriting was ssy, as if written in haste. Tears welled up in her eyes as she began to read.

*Ella,*

*I don't expect you to forgive . I don't even expect you to understand. I've made mistakes—too many to count—but not a day went by when I didn't think of you. I'm sorry for everything. For leaving, for what happened to your mother... I'm sorry.*

*I had no choice back then —your mother has beco fallen human —she borrowed the power from demon.*

*I don't care what happened to but I can't let anything to happened to you. Socity is cruel, you know what happens of family mbers of fallen human —they were cast aside.*

*I don't want anything to happened to you, I couldn't help but to do what I had to do. For your sake, I will even beco murder.

*I hope, soday, you'll be able to live the life I couldn't give you. The life you deserve.*

*Your father, Thomas.*

Ella's hands trembled as she read the final words. Her tears fell onto the page, blurring the ink. She wanted to scream, to cry, to throw the letter away.

But instead, she stood there, holding the paper tightly to her chest, letting the pain wash over her.
