The chaos intensified as the remaining packs tore into each other with a desperation that bordered on madness. The battlefield had beco a twisted canvas of violence and survival, every movent a brutal testant to the darkness grip on this world.

A west Roar writhed under the combined assault of two eastern attackers. Its limbs flailed, each strike t with ruthless force as they shredded its flesh. The creature’s guttural hisses grew weaker until, with one final, wet gasp, its chest cavity was torn open, revealing the pulsating core within. The eastern Roars wasted no ti. One lunged forward, jaws widening unnaturally to consu the exposed black larvae worm, its form rippling with faint, dark energy as it fed.

Nearby, the west pack fought back with equal ferocity. One of their larger Roars... a brute with jagged scars marking its hide.. used its tail like a spear. With a powerful thrust, it impaled an eastern Roar mid-leap, pinning the creature to the muddy ground. The west Roar followed swiftly, its jaws clamping down on its rival’s head with a sickening crunch. The sound lingered in the air, a grim reminder of the primal brutality that defined this fight.

The ground beneath them was a grim tapestry of writhing larvae worms and shattered bodies. dark blue acidic Ichor seeped into the mud, its tallic tang mixing with the oppressive stench of decay and corruption. The air felt heavy, as though the very atmosphere recoiled from the carnage.

Then ca the Alphas.

The east Alpha, battered and bleeding, unleashed a surge of dark energy that rippled through the battlefield. Its body pulsed with erratic waves of dark energy, each one a desperate plea for dominance. With a guttural roar, it lunged at the west Alpha, claws poised to strike the scarred leader’s core.

But the west Alpha was not so easily defeated.

With a calculated twist of its massive form, it drove its tail forward in a devastating counterattack. The pointed tip struck true, piercing the eastern Alpha’s chest and shattering the pulsating void orb within.

A screech unlike anything I’d ever heard erupted from the east Alpha. The sound was primal, raw, a cry of defeat and dissolution. Its body convulsed violently, the dark energy that sustained it unraveling as it collapsed into a mass of oozing darkness. Slowly, agonizingly, the creature began dissolving into the mud, almost leaving nothing but a faint residue of its existence.

The west Alpha stood victorious, though its triumph ca at a cost. Its body swayed, dark blue acidic ichor dripping from countless wounds, but it did not falter. With deliberate, almost reverent movents, it tore into the fallen Alpha’s abdon, retrieving and consuming the black larvae worm hidden within.

The transformation was imdiate.

The west Alpha’s body began to shift, its form growing larger and more grotesque. Its scars stretched over newly ford muscle and sinew, the energy of the consud larvae worm fueling its evolution. The faint glow of its blue eyes intensified, piercing the gloom like twin beacons of void power.

The surviving west Roars gathered around their Alpha. Their movents, once frantic and wild, beca deliberate, almost ritualistic. Their glowing eyes shone brighter as they stood together, a pack honed by survival and united under a leader who had earned its place.

Yet even in victory, there was no respite.

The battlefield was strangely silent now, save for the relentless patter of rain and the distant rumble of thunder. The victors moved on, their forms disappearing into the ashen horizon, leaving behind a chilling reminder of this world’s harsh reality.

I remained crouched on the hill, my body rigid with tension. The scene I had witnessed was a brutal lesson etched into my mind, a stark reflection of the unyielding law that governed this place.

Evolve or Die.

It wasn’t just a mantra.... it was a truth, an unrelenting demand of existence in this dark-tainted world. Watching the Roars, I realized that even the strongest among them lived on borrowed ti. Their victories, their power, ant nothing in the face of the endless cycle of predation and survival.

The storm continued unabated, the rain washing away the ichor-stained ground as though erasing the evidence of what had transpired. But I knew better. The lesson remained, etched into the very core of this place.

I rose to my feet, my muscles aching but my senses sharper than ever.

If I wanted to survive, if I wanted to escape this nightmare, there was no room for hesitation or weakness. The path was clear, even if it was drenched in blood and darkness.

Evolve or Die.

There was no other choice.

Hunting the injured Roars might have seed like an easy win, but it would’ve been a fatal mistake. These creatures, even at their weakest, were far too cunning for such a reckless gamble. greed clawed at my insides, urging to push forward, but I knew better than to let desperation dictate my actions. This wasn’t just a ga anymore. This was survival.

From my vantage point on the hill, I watched the aftermath of the battle in the distance. The ashen-gray sky overhead grew darker, the oppressive clouds lit intermittently by multicolored lightning. Streaks of red, white, and yellow tore across the heavens, painting brief and violent murals against the gloom. Each strike was followed by a thunderous boom that seed to shake the very ground beneath .

I sighed, the weight of my situation pressing down harder than ever.

Only one day left before I was supposed to et Geralda, and I had only managed to hunt a single Roar.

One.

The realization twisted in my gut, but I pushed the thought aside. Panicking wouldn’t change anything, and in this world, hesitation was just as deadly as recklessness.

"Life in Echoes of Agony isn’t just hostile," I muttered to myself, voice barely audible over the distant storm. "It’s a crucible. The weak get swallowed whole, and anyone with even a shred of softness…"

I trailed off, shaking my head. There was no room for sentint here.

Descending the hill, I retraced my steps toward the abandoned underground cottage where I had taken refuge the night before. As I approached the battlefield, the acrid scent of acidic ichor filled the air, sharp and tallic, like a blade slicing through my senses. The ground was a patchwork of torn dissolving flesh and writhing remnants of void orbs, a grotesque reminder of the carnage that had taken place.

I kept my eyes forward, forcing myself to ignore the grisly scene as I moved past.

The village ruins lood ahead, their skeletal structures barely recognizable under layers of gri and decay. I tread carefully, the squelch of mud beneath my boots blending with the distant patter of rain. But then, just as I was about to enter the shelter, sothing made stop.

A chill ran down my spine.

Sothing was wrong.

I couldn’t see it, but I felt it... a presence, faint yet undeniable, lingering just beyond the edges of my awareness. My instincts scread at as I let my detection spread outward.

The world sharpened into painful clarity. Every sound, every faint shift in the air, every ripple in the puddles on the ground... I could sense them all.

And then I found it.

The Roar was close. Injured. Its dark energy flickered weakly, like a dying ember struggling against the wind. It wasn’t visible yet, but I could feel its movents, subtle and deliberate, like a predator lurking in the shadows.

Maybe there was another battle between packs, I thought, my mind racing slightly as I began to move. Slowly, cautiously, I stepped forward, each footfall as quiet as the rain around .

The scent of dark ichor grew stronger with every step. The oppressive atmosphere pressed down harder, making the air feel heavier, thicker. My pulse quickened, but I forced myself to stay calm by filling my emotions with mist, to keep my breathing steady.

Then, as I placed my foot on a patch of muddy ground, everything shifted.

The Roar reacted instantly.

The oppressive weight in the air doubled, and the ground beneath trembled. A low, guttural vibration echoed through the earth, resonating with an almost sentient awareness. I barely had ti to react before I felt it... a surge of dark oppressive energy radiating from the injured creature as it beca fully aware of my presence.

I prepared to dissolve into mist, my mind already working through the plan I had devised for such encounters. But just as I began to act, a voice rang out, shattering the act like a thunderclap.

"I need your help…"

The words were guttural, alien, yet unmistakably clear. The voice reverberated through the muddy ground, shaking the air around with its sheer weight.

I froze, the words echoing in my mind.

A Roar.. one of the very beings that had been a warning to since arriving in this cursed world... was asking for my help.

The oppressive weight of the mont settled over , heavier than any storm.

Up above, the sky answered with a violent crack.
