Capítulo 965: Chapter 963: Verifying the Clue

Richard and Brando waited for about an hour until they saw Annie co out of the manor. By now, it was completely dark.

Annie walked out of the manor, carrying a food box. Her face showed no expression as she stepped onto the wooden stool placed on the ground by the coachman and boarded the carriage.

Richard had been waiting in the carriage for a while and reached out, trying to take the food box from Annie to lighten her load. But Annie did not appreciate the gesture; she lifted the food box higher, avoiding Richard’s hand, and went straight into the carriage.

Richard stopped his hand in mid-air and slowly retracted it. He glanced at the food box Annie was holding, noticing that the swing was a little beyond his expectation—indicating that the box was much lighter than before, almost empty. Moreover, he heard a faint sound of an object rolling inside the box, sothing like a cylinder, which made him think of a scroll.

He said nothing, silently returned to the carriage, and sat down with Brando. At this mont, Annie gave a command to the coachman: “Go ho.”

“Yes, Miss,” the coachman responded vocally, picking up the wooden stool from the ground, jumping onto the carriage, and controlling the reins to drive towards the city.

“Clatter… clatter…”

The carriage moved along the uneven road, Brando tried to find a topic to win Annie’s favor: “Um, Miss Annie, what were you doing earlier, can I know?”

The response was Annie’s icy reply: “No, shut up!”

“I.” Brando’s expression froze, not expecting his attempt to fail, feeling quite defeated, like a rooster in a losing fight, he lowered his head, and kept quiet.

Richard saw this and his eyebrow twitched slightly, he began to ponder:

Annie’s behavior showed that she greatly valued what she did in the manor and was very cautious about keeping it a secret. That’s why she wouldn’t let him and Brando follow, wouldn’t explain the reason, and certainly wouldn’t describe the content.

So what exactly happened in the manor?

Annie entered with a food box, and upon returning, the box beca lighter. No surprise, she delivered the food inside to soone.

Simply put, Annie ca to the manor to deliver a al to soone.

Who might this person be?

According to the information provided by the black-faced elder Oscar and his intelligence agency, Annie, as the legitimate eldest daughter of the Pompo family, possesses strong wizard talent and holds a high status in the Pompo family.

Soone who could make Annie deliver a al would definitely be a person of higher status and soone who Annie respects.

Such a person, at least Annie’s parents, would not fit the bill—due to childhood reasons, Annie’s relationship with her parents is extrely poor.

That pushes us back to Annie’s grandfather or soone from her great-grandfather’s generation.

This inevitably reminded him of soone, a person who had a significant impact on the Pompo family, driving it to beco the true ruler of Saint Louis City—the brother of the eighth-generation head of the Pompo family—Allen Pamp.

The person beca a third-level wizard fifty years ago, helped the Pompo family eliminate many strong adversaries and went silent twenty years ago, rumored to be attempting to break through to the level 4 wizard status, his success unknown.

The person Annie delivered the al to, could it be Allen Pamp?

The person certainly has the qualification to receive a al from Annie, and maybe Annie delighted him with the al delivery, thus rewarding her with so help, such as the suspected scroll inside the food box.

Boldly speculating, if he could give Annie a scroll, then would he have more similar scrolls or books at his side?

Perhaps a large portion of the valuable scrolls and books of the Pompo family are protected by him.

The person himself has the third-level, even level 4 wizard strength, with an entire camp of magic knights beside him, it’s foolproof.

Then the Void Book he seeks has hope of being found.

Currently, this is just speculation, but once proven true, it completes his main objective for coming to Saint Louis City.

While Richard was contemplating, the coachman drove the carriage back to Saint Louis City, returning to the Pompo family residence.

“Creak,” the carriage stopped in a courtyard, Annie, carrying the food box, walked down from the carriage, looking back at Richard and Brando following her, said: “There’s a banquet at ho today that I need to attend, it’s very safe, no need for your protection.

So you don’t have to follow , just go take a rest. The resting place is near the courtyard where I live, if you can’t find it, ask my maid. I’ll call for you if I have any tasks tomorrow. But not too early, as I usually sleep until the afternoon, that’s it.”

Annie raised her hand and waved, carrying the food box in her other hand, she walked away without turning back.

Richard and Brando followed down from the carriage, exchanged a glance, and headed in the direction of Annie’s living courtyard to find it.

About twenty minutes later.

Richard and Brando found the room for resting—just as Annie said, near her living courtyard, the conditions were quite good, each person had their own room. The room was fully equipped with living supplies, many items weren’t cheap.

For instance, the towels used for washing were made of wool.

Brando looked around, clicking his tongue with amazent: “Wow, very nice, though a bit inferior to where I stayed before, but much better than I thought.”

“Hey, how much do you think the Pompo family spent preparing a room like this?” Brando stood at the door, looking at Richard, and asked.

“Don’t know.” Richard calmly shook his head in response, then turned and walked into the nearby room, shutting the door with a “bang.”

Brando: “…”

Couldn’t help but touch his face, muttering internally: Hey, I’m asking you a question, it’s not that I wanted an actual answer from you, just wanted to chat. Did you have to give such a straightforward response and then walk away?

I don’t look that bad, am I that dislikeable? I an, we’ll be together for at least three months, you won’t treat like a walking dead, will you? I would go insane!

In the room, Richard didn’t know what Brando was muttering about, but his intentions were clear: not planning to stay here for three months to secure a position in the Pompo family. Just aiming to find the Void Book within three days, complete the mission, go to the Truth Society branch, exchange the remaining Void Book from Supervisor Long i’er, and thoroughly solve the energy issue, getting the nuclear weapon successfully developed.

And now, one of the three days had already passed; he did not want to waste any ti. Especially after obtaining clues that might relate to the Void Book, he didn’t want any delay, wanting to verify them quickly.

“Swipe swipe swipe!”

Richard entered the room after closing the door, he waved his hand to cast several warning small magic spells.

Then he took a deep breath.

“Whew—huh—”

Clearing his mind, quietly lying on the bed, entering the deepest ditation.

Not long after, a familiar vibration within his body erged, then his consciousness broke free from the physical body, rushing out of the room.
