Chapter 157: Chapter 156: Red-eyed Pirates
Atop the massive ship, the battle between the students and the pirates was at a stalemate.
Pirates kept throwing Flying Claws, trying to climb aboard the massive ship under the cover of their comrades, but every ti they just managed to climb halfway, the students would forcefully cut the ropes, causing them to plumt heavily into the sea. Although they were basically unhard, it was still frustrating to be thwarted repeatedly.
The students on the ship, seeing the pirates unable to mount a counterattack, were buoyed in spirit and began to taunt the enemy.
“Run out of tricks, have you?!”
“If you’re so capable, co up here!”
“Hope you smash your skulls in!”
...
“Stinking pirates!”
But in the next mont, the taunts were replaced by cries of alarm.
“What kind of monster is that?!”
They saw the pirate ship lower two new planks, each with more than a dozen pirates aboard. These pirates were quite different from the ordinary sort, not only were they covered in scars, exuding a fierce and murderous aura, but their eyes were blood-red, as if filled with intense rage.
Bulging veins ran across their skin like writhing earthworms, and bestial growls emitted from their throats.
This group of new pirates ca near the massive ship and quickly threw their Flying Claws. With several “bangs,” they embedded deep into the deck, and then they scaled the ropes rapidly towards the ship’s deck.
The students on deck panicked.
“What the hell are these monsters? They’re boarding the ship, stop them!”
“Damn it, they’re so fast! They’re coming up!”
“Hurry… cut the ropes!”
The students’ reaction was obviously too slow.
A Red-eyed Pirate climbed to the end of a rope at a speed more than double that of ordinary pirates, then leapt upwards, landing on the deck. Drawing a curved blade from his waist, without a word, he slashed at the nearest unlucky student.
The unlucky student couldn’t dodge in ti and was struck on the arm, letting out a scream before crashing to the ground.
The Red-eyed Pirate showed no rcy, his blade chopping down again and again, turning the poor student into a ragdoll, causing everyone on deck to retreat in horror.
At this mont, Nancy, leading the fire-fighting team, was patrolling from the other end of the deck and couldn’t help but curse upon seeing this scene: “What are you all doing standing around! Drive him off!”
Everyone shuddered, but they looked at each other, and not a single person dared to confront the Red-eyed Pirate. In the eyes of the students, these Red-eyed Pirates were a bit too terrifying.
“Waste of space,” Nancy said with disdain, shouting, “Move aside!”
The crowd imdiately dispersed to both sides, and the next mont, a dark flash streaked by. It was Nancy running and jumping up, delivering a kick squarely to the Red-eyed Pirate and sending him tumbling viciously onto the deck.
The Red-eyed Pirate was quick to react. After being kicked to the ground, he rolled back to his feet, staring maliciously at Nancy and growling, “You’re the one who’s going to die!”
“I’d like to see who’s going to die!” Nancy retorted, drawing her Longsword, and with a steely face, lunged at the Red-eyed Pirate.
The Red-eyed Pirate was fearless, brandishing his curved blade to strike at Nancy. She parried with her sword, feeling a numbness in her arm.
The Red-eyed Pirates seed to have seen Nancy’s weakness, sneering loudly, he continued to growl from his mouth, “Die!” Swinging his scimitar with even more strength, he chopped down.
Nancy wasn’t foolish and began to dodge, fluttering about like a butterfly beside the Red-eyed Pirate, making him unable to hit her.
The Red-eyed Pirate was furious, the growling sound from his mouth getting louder, “Die! Die! Go to…”
Abruptly, the sound stopped.
Nancy had found her opportunity and plunged the longsword precisely into the Red-eyed Pirate’s body.
“Gurgle…” Blood spilled from the mouth of the Red-eyed Pirate. He looked down in shock at the longsword piercing his belly, creasing his brow slightly, but it didn’t seem like he was in too much pain, rely appearing a bit uncomfortable.
The next mont, a sowhat horrifying scene unfolded. The Red-eyed Pirate’s voice rose sharply, “Die!”
With a “smack,” one hand firmly grasped the longsword Nancy had thrust into his body, while the other hand swung the scimitar down towards Nancy.
The faces of the onlookers shifted subtly, but Nancy maintained her composure. A glint of light flashed in her sky-blue eyes. Suddenly, she let go of her sword, stepping back and fiercely kicked the Red-eyed Pirate in the body.
The Red-eyed Pirate staggered backward but didn’t fall. After steadying himself, he tried to pull the longsword from his body to continue his attack.
The glow in Nancy’s eyes shone brightly at this mont.
The onlookers gaped as they saw a slender, tender green vine sprout from the point where Nancy had kicked the Red-eyed Pirate in the chest. Under the sunlight, it rapidly grew to a thickness of one centiter and a length of several ters within the blink of an eye, tightly entangling the Pirate’s body.
“It’s magic!”
Soone exclaid with amazent, turning to look at Nancy in shock. It was the first ti anyone had seen a student use magic, and at that mont, Nancy’s status in everyone’s hearts soared.
The Pirate, however, did not share the students’ sentints. Glancing at the vines on his body, he simply felt a bit of strangeness, a sensation of restraint, and reached out to tear them away.
The vine wasn’t strong, and with a forceful tug from the Pirate’s hands, a small piece was ripped off. It looked like it would only take a few seconds for the Pirate to free himself from the entanglent of the vine.
But that was enough ti.
As the Red-eyed Pirate reached to tear at the vine, Nancy quickly retreated several ters and then started sprinting, gaining speed. Using the montum of her rapid run, Nancy leaped high into the air and delivered a fierce kick to the Red-eyed Pirate’s body.
“Bang!”
The Pirate went tumbling backward uncontrollably, his neck exposed. Just at that mont, before the Pirate hit the ground, still in mid-air, Nancy reached out, swiftly drew the longsword from the Pirate’s body, swung it with all her strength in a full circle.
The arc of the full circle sweep passed precisely over the Pirate’s neck, and with a “spurt” sound, the Pirate’s head spun through the air and smashed down onto the deck, as his neck spouted blood like a fountain.
“Splatter, splatter, splatter.”
A portion of the blood splashed onto Nancy’s face; she carelessly wiped it off, looking towards the others. They dared not even breathe loudly. In their eyes at that mont, Nancy’s status was only a notch below that of the Master Wizard.
But Nancy wasn’t particularly pleased; she knew her true strength. Moreover… in the ti it took her to struggle to kill the Red-eyed Pirate, more of the Red-eyed Pirates had boarded the deck, with the rest following closely behind.
Taking a deep breath, Nancy pursed her pink lips, holding the blood-dripping longsword, and pointed at the others with a firm voice, “Don’t just stand there dazed, everyone, grab your weapons and hold this ground; we have to stop the Red-eyed Pirates’ attack, or we will all die, understand!”
“Yes…” The onlookers responded shakily, gripping their weapons to et the Pirates rushing onto the deck, but it was hard to be as brave as Nancy; amidst cries of terror, they were pushed back by the Red-eyed Pirates. Nancy, leading three fire-fighting squads, provided support where she could, barely managing to maintain their defense.
The deck gradually beca chaotic.
