Two hours later.

Under the gloomy sky, at the Grey Parrot Reinforcent Group Defense Line.

The army of abnormal creatures just ended another wave of attack—after suffering significant losses from the relentless resistance of the Grey Parrot Reinforcent Group, they retreated like a tide.

The Grey Parrot Reinforcent Group also suffered heavy losses, with many soldiers injured or killed. Even those who were not wounded were so exhausted that they collapsed to the ground, gasping for air, unwilling to move their fingers due to excessive physical strength depletion. Only a very few soldiers relied on sheer willpower to support themselves as they tried to repair the damaged fortifications.

The air was filled with the stench, scorched sll, and blood, corpses and wounded were everywhere, and cries of agony rose and fell.

At this mont, Bob, Philip, Frank, and other crew mbers ran out from the camp, quickly rushing to the defense line. Two hours of combat had made them very adept at handling the current situation, knowing exactly what they should do.

So of them helped the soldiers repair the fortifications, so transported the energy cubes and shells in boxes to where they were needed, and so provided ergency military rations to soldiers with depleted physical strength. The remaining people lifted the wounded onto stretchers and carried them to the temporary dical station in the camp, although the injuries were often so severe that there was still a high probability of dying upon reaching there, but there was at least a glimr of hope.

Frank lowered his head at the mont, placed a stretcher on the ground beside him, and went to pull an unconscious wounded soldier with a broken leg.

Philip was originally helping to repair a collapsed trench, but seeing Frank struggling, he quickly ran over, "I will help you."

Frank didn’t respond, just kept muttering softly, not sure what exactly he was saying, while continuing to pull the wounded soldier onto the stretcher.

Philip didn’t think much, bent down to work with Frank to place the wounded on the stretcher, after which, each lifted one end of the stretcher, and carried it toward the camp.

Frank continued to mutter as they walked.

After walking for a while, seeing that Frank had no intention of stopping, Philip couldn’t help but ask, "What are you saying, Frank?"

Frank slowly turned his head, glanced at Philip, and said slowly and clearly, "I’m saying... everyone will die."

"What?" Philip was stunned, his mind racing... this was too ominous... he couldn’t help but frown.

Just then, he heard a sudden whistling sound above, instinctively looked up, and saw a black shadow the size of a person suddenly crash down beside him like a giant bomb.

Before he could react, the shockwave from the "giant bomb" exploded, with a "bang" that blew him away. Naturally, Frank and the wounded soldier on the stretcher were not spared, among them, Frank was hurled several ters away, and the wounded soldier flew up and landed headfirst on the ground, his neck snapping with a "crack," clearly not going to survive.

What’s happening?

Philip got up with a dizzy head, holding his forehead and looked at what had fallen.

He saw that instead of a giant bomb, it looked more like a giant egg, more than a ter high, elliptical in shape, entirely light red. When it hit the ground, it seed to have broken the shell, dense cracks appeared on it, and continued to spread.

With a "crack," the shell of the "giant egg" shattered, and sothing crawled out from inside.

Philip looked intently, his blood ran cold all over, and saw that what crawled out turned out to be five or six abnormal brown rats.

Such creatures he encountered on the road, and outside the Grey Parrot Reinforcent Group Defense Line now, there are countless numbers—they just didn’t expect them to suddenly appear inside the camp.

It seed like they flew in, but... how was this done?

Philip was puzzled, but the abnormal brown rats didn’t give him a chance to find answers. Most of the brown rats seed a bit dizzy due to the impact, spinning in circles in place, though one woke up first and opened its mouth to pounce toward him.

"Bang!"

Philip, who had just stood up, felt his legs weaken, and he fell directly to the ground, frightened to the point of holding his breath—maybe he had assisted soldiers in combat for two hours, but he didn’t have the courage to face terrifying abnormal creatures.

It seed that he was about to be bitten to death by the abnormal brown rat when suddenly from the side, an iron pipe fiercely stabbed out, going straight into the open mouth of the abnormal brown rat, and then pierced deeply into the most inner part of the rat’s body.

"Puff!"

The abnormal brown rat was skewered on the iron pipe, blood gushed out of its throat, twitched a few tis, and then beca motionless.

Philip opened his mouth in surprise and turned his head to see that the one who acted was Frank.

Frank, having been blown away, had got up even faster than him, saw the abnormal brown rat attacking, imdiately supported him, and the iron pipe in his hand was taken from the stretcher—after skewering the abnormal brown rat with one pipe, he kicked the second pipe over from the ground with his foot.

Philip picked up the iron pipe with trembling hands, trying to calm down, and asked Frank, "What... what should we do next?"

Frank didn’t answer, just repeated, "Everyone will die," flung away the brown rat corpse from the iron pipe, then charged at the remaining brown rats.

At that mont, Frank’s eyes were wide open, the corners nearly split, and deep in his pupils, it seed that flas were burning—burning with extre fervor.

Philip was stunned, but after a second, he clearly knew they had to seize the chance to kill a few abnormal brown rats, or both he and Frank would die here; gritting his teeth, he forcibly gathered the courage, tightly gripping the iron pipe, and rushed after Frank toward the remaining abnormal brown rats.

During the process, a thought flashed in Philip’s mind... although Frank said "everyone will die," his actual desire to survive was stronger than anyone else’s... Frank wanted so much to live, surely he had to survive too, after all, he still had a son, Little Jimmy...

"Puff!"

The next mont, the iron pipe in his hand fiercely pierced into the abnormal brown rat’s body, and blood spurted out like a fountain.

...

"Hiss~Roar~"

Outside the Grey Parrot Reinforcent Group Defense Line.

The retreating army of abnormal creatures once again gathered, launching a new attack, it seed their numbers hadn’t decreased, and their attack force was stronger than before.

Abnormal brown rats, abnormal grey rats, bald giant rats, bear-shaped giant rats were everywhere you looked. In addition, there were also nurous other abnormal creatures, difficult to distinguish what species exactly, but all about the size of hounds, having sharp teeth, drooling with an offensive saliva, ragingly approaching the defense line.

This didn’t make the soldiers on the defense line very terrified anymore because they had almost beco accustod to it, behind the broken barbed wire, they chanically held their weapons and shot beams of light at the charging abnormal creatures, shattering one abnormal creature after another.

Occasionally, when they encountered abnormal creatures that couldn’t be killed, a small team leader would stand up, carry a Steel Fist shell, and blast it over.

Failing to kill still, the gunners at the nearby firing points would swing into action, adjusting the Magic Rune Cannon’s direction and angle, swiftly loading the shells, pulling the firing cord intensely, the shell launched, shattering everything.

However, this ti soldiers at the defense line encountered a small problem.
