Atlantis City, Eighth Avenue, at the street’s center.
Among the throngs of pedestrians, a loud explosion suddenly erupted, followed by a burst of incredibly bright light.
Squeezed among the onlookers, Ma Qiu felt as if a fishbone had scratched the surface of his eye, causing a sharp pain, then his vision went completely white, unable to see anything.
Though blinded, he could still hear even louder explosions erupting one after another, like several hamrs striking each other in front of him, the sound deafeningly loud, nearly rupturing his eardrums.
"Boom!"
As the last sound rang out, he felt the air around him suddenly sway, then press towards him like a wall, crashing against his body.
Ma Qiu felt as if soone had ramd their head into his chest, his entire body lost balance and fell backward.
Before he fell, he instinctively reached out with his left hand, trying to pull Donna into his protection. But to his surprise, even in his temporary blindness, cold sweat broke out.
Because at so point, his left hand was empty; Donna was nowhere to be found.
Just as Ma Qiu felt an imnse worry, he felt soone grab his clothing from behind, pulling him backward until he was gently placed on the ground.
During this process, Ma Qiu noticed a lapse in his perception of ti, unable to distinguish whether it was seconds, minutes, or even longer.
In any case, he lay on the ground until his vision restored, struggling to stand up, discovering the scene had quieted.
Turning his head, he was surprised to see Donna looking at him with concern.
"Are you okay?" Ma Qiu spoke up.
"Senior, I’m fine," Donna shook her head in response, "Just as the fight started, I jumped away. But I saw you about to fall and reached out to support you, although... I was too weak to catch you, letting you fall to the ground. Umm... Are you hurt?"
"No, I’m not hurt, I’m fine." Ma Qiu felt the burning pain in his chest, trying his best to appear unhard, forcing a smile, looking towards where the battle had erupted earlier.
He saw the short vendor nad Eric now bent over, standing on the ground, pale-faced, breathing heavily and looking rather weak.
Among the four gray-robed n who claid to be from Shaya, three looked largely unchanged, watching their target, vendor Eric, with vigilance and caution, preventing his escape.
The fourth gray-robed man, the bald one who had spoken earlier, furrowed his brows slightly, tilting his head as his gaze shifted to another person suddenly appearing on the scene.
That was a middle-aged man wearing a dark green robe, his face marked with deep lines, entirely dressed as a wizard. As the bald man watched him, he too looked at vendor Eric and the four gray-robed n, his expression not very pleased.
"What’s going on here?" Ma Qiu watched in bewildernt.
"It seems that the guy nad Eric started a fight with those capturing him, not knowing who started it, but a fight broke out. However, it was quickly stopped by the passing Green Robed Wizard from Atlantis University, leading to this scene." Donna speculated, adding a last note, "Well, that’s just my guess; I’m not sure. As they started fighting, my vision blurred, just recovering a mont ago."
"Is that so..." Ma Qiu digested the information from Donna’s words, thinking for a few seconds, then looked at Donna curiously, "How did you know that the green-robed person is a wizard from Atlantis University? You’re visiting Atlantis City for the first ti and wouldn’t recognize anyone, right?"
"Indeed, I don’t recognize people." Donna admitted, "But I recognize the badge on his chest. Although it doesn’t look exactly like ours, it’s also a symbol of Atlantis University, which, according to what you said earlier, ans he’s from there. As for his wizard identity... I think, if he weren’t a wizard, he wouldn’t have been able to stop the fight, right? Since he did stop it, he must be a wizard."
"Uh..."
Faced with Donna’s flawless logic, Ma Qiu fell silent, realizing this junior might be sowhat naive but not foolish.
After all, a genuine fool wouldn’t have gotten into Atlantis University. Comparing himself, he felt rather inadequate, not only physically weak but also slow to react, unable to protect others, instead being protected.
This is sowhat shaful...
Ma Qiu remained silent, as the dark green-robed man in the scene spoke up, glancing at vendor Eric and the four gray-robed n, raising his voice: "Can anyone explain what’s going on here? Are you unaware that in Atlantis City and throughout Shalin, fighting in public places is strictly prohibited, especially fights involving extraordinary powers? Hmph, if I hadn’t happened to pass by and stopped you, the aftermath of your battle alone would have killed at least ten people."
"Perhaps it will make others realize that joining in the chaos isn’t a good thing." The bald gray-robed man replied coldly, looking at the dark green-robed man, his expression quite unfriendly, "We are from Shaya’s ’Judgnt Court,’ here to capture a fugitive criminal. I don’t care what Shalin’s laws say, but we have a legitimate capture procedure, and no one is allowed to obstruct it."
"But that doesn’t justify your misuse of extraordinary powers." The dark green-robed man responded in a deep voice, the lines on his face deepening, seemingly cutting into his flesh.
"Misuse, huh?" The bald man sneered dismissively, "That’s not for you to determine; it must be judged by His Majesty."
"But this is Shalin, this is Atlantis City." The dark green-robed man reminded.
"Does Shalin matter, does Atlantis City matter? Do Shalin’s laws override the Alliance’s laws, does Atlantis City’s rules surpass the Emperor’s will? Are you trying to rebel?!" The bald man shouted, his eyes wide, his presence sowhat intimidating.
"I don’t intend rebellion, nor does anyone else." The dark green-robed man calmly looked at the bald man, "But soone does wish to wrongly condemn others. I believe the hat I’m wearing now may be higher than that of two princesses."
"Huh?" The bald man’s gaze showed so confusion.
"Oh, forgot, you’re from Shaya, haven’t seen ’The Little Dwarf Prince and the Seven Princesses’ play, so you’d not understand. Never mind, I need to hurry to school for class, let’s leave this matter to the Sheriff." The dark green-robed man said, looking to one side.
He saw a man with a hooked nose rapidly approaching, dressed in a sea-blue uniform, holding a black and red interwoven wooden staff. Stern in appearance, fierce in face, exuding an aura... capable of intimidating criminals.
But only able to intimidate common criminals, for he was an ordinary person.
However, this didn’t matter, because he was accompanied by another team.
