"Tap, tap, tap..."

Barry led the stoic-faced man, proceeding through the darkness of the restricted zone toward its deepest part.

After walking a few dozen ters, he stopped, frowned slightly, and glanced around to confirm the location.

This should be the place... why isn’t there anyone to et us?

Could it be... sothing has gone wrong?

Barry grew sowhat suspicious, his mana began to churn, his alertness heightened.

"Swish..."

Just then, there was a slight sound from behind, as if soone was attempting an ambush. Barry quickly turned around, instinctively ready to attack, but at the last mont, seeing who it was, he pulled back his attack with all his strength.

His body swayed lightly, the rapidly circulating mana within him cald, Barry exhaled deeply and looked at the newcor.

It turned out to be an aged old man, hair white, body slightly hunched, none other than Witch Demon Elder Ah Fu.

The Witch Demon Elder clearly had no idea what kind of fright Barry had just experienced internally, he only sensed a sudden high-intensity energy fluctuation within Barry, which quickly dissipated, so he glanced at Barry strangely and spoke, "What are you doing?"

"Well, I..." Barry stamred, trying to explain.

But Witch Demon Elder had no interest in listening, he waved his hand and said, "Alright, bring the target over, I have things to do and don’t have ti for your nonsense."

"Uh, yes." Barry swallowed his pride but nodded obediently, led the stoic-faced man and followed Witch Demon Elder to the side—he had no choice but to obey, for previously in Eden, he was taught a lesson by Witch Demon Elder and was well aware of this guy’s higher age and prowess, disobedience only brought suffering.

After following Witch Demon Elder for a few minutes, Barry and the stoic-faced man finally arrived at a clearing.

There, two rows of people stood neatly, each person similar in height, build, and facial features to the stoic-faced man, resembling they were sculpted from the sa mold, gazing at them long enough induced a sense of horror.

At the end of the two rows, there was an empty spot, Witch Demon Elder pointed to it, Barry understood and led the stoic-faced man to stand there.

"Is this the last one?" Witch Demon Elder asked after seeing Barry position the stoic-faced man.

"Yes, Master Ah Fu." Barry replied respectfully.

"Then there’s nothing more for you here, leave now, I’ll call for you when I need you again." Witch Demon Elder said bluntly, chasing him away.

Barry’s expression froze, feeling it was retribution for how he treated Raymond earlier. But he dared not show any displeasure or say a word, nodded silently, and left the area, exiting the restricted zone.

Once Barry left, Witch Demon Elder’s face turned serious, he scanned the two rows of standing people, then reached into his clothes and retrieved a crystal ball the size of a fist.

He opened his mouth, reciting obscure spells, and inside the crystal ball, pale green energy ripples appeared.

Gradually, the energy ripples grew more active, finally becoming a bright green energy vortex.

The vortex emitted a strange suction, making the bodies of the standing individuals tremble, translucent threads of energy were extracted from their brains, drawn into the crystal ball in Witch Demon Elder’s hand.

This continued for several minutes, before Witch Demon Elder stopped, observing that the crystal ball now emitted a pinkish glow, and nodded in satisfaction.

He put away the crystal ball and waved his hand towards the standing rows of people, including the stoic-faced man, causing them to disperse and disappear—where they went was unknown. Witch Demon Elder then stepped forward, swiftly took off into the night, and vanished from sight.

...

Over half an hour later.

Black Water City, Lord Mansion, inside a room.

The Witch Demon Elder’s crystal ball appeared on a table in the room. Richard sat beside it, seeming to have already examined the crystal ball’s contents and acquired so information. He now appeared deep in thought, lightly tapping his fingers on the tabletop, pondering what the next step for improving the Tin Wood biological weapons should be.

Yes, the next step in improving Tin Wood’s biological weapons.

This matter dates back to over half a year ago.

Back then, the war between Soma Alliance and Sika Kingdom hadn’t erupted, but within the forest where Tin Wood dwelled, a strange species war broke out.

Tin Wood, this ancient tree species, battled against an unknown Superbirth Species. During the conflict, Tin Wood’s arrogance prevented tily communication with him, nearly resulting in its annihilation by the Superbirth Species. Luckily, Annie, Nancy, and Gro happened to visit the forest, quickly relaying the news, allowing him to rush over, eliminate the Superbirth Species, and feed its core to Tin Wood.

After Tin Wood devoured the Superbirth Species core, its biological weapon manufacturing capability, which had diminished, was restored and enhanced, with a promise to fully supply biological weapons within twenty years.

However, as digesting the Superbirth Species core required ti, in the initial two or three years it couldn’t mass-produce biological weapons, only after around three years could production continuously increase like the Superbirth Species.

At that ti, if Richard wished, he could potentially wipe out the world using Tin Wood’s biological weapon manufacturing capabilities, though Richard wasn’t that idle.

Anyway, three years obviously wouldn’t pass in an instant, but this didn’t prevent Richard from making so preparations during this period.

After leaving Shaya, Bi Bi took off on a spell-enhanced carriage traveling fast, Richard went to visit the Ancestor Spirit Association, then proceeded to Tin Wood’s forest.

Upon eting Tin Wood, he requested it to first create a batch of humanoid biological weapons and send them to Shalin for testing, to examine what deficiencies existed and provide data support for future improvents.

In his plan, Tin Wood’s biological weapons were to serve multiple purposes, aside from use in law enforcent, defense, and combat, they were ideally a part of the basic forces. This required consideration of biological weapons’ interactions with regular humans, at least preventing normal humans from fearing or rejecting them, which is why he had Tin Wood make humanoid biological weapons.

Yet, while simulating human appearances, their habits and minds greatly differed from humans, which was why these biological weapons were kept isolated in a restricted area, and the rumor of "slave workers" was spread to explain peculiarities of the biological weapons.

As it turns out, the rumor worked well, but it cannot continue indefinitely.

The biological weapons inevitably need improvent, and if their numbers increase in the future, the re "slave" identity would be hard to justify since there aren’t many slaves currently on the continent.
