Farlo City, residence of Witch Cesi.
At this mont, Richard was in Cesi’s study, going through so books, while Cesi and her two students—Narlyd and Heidi—were also perusing books.
Before this, he had transcribed a small portion of the text from Balta’s data and handed it to Cesi, asking if she could decipher it and how difficult it would be.
Cesi did not give an exact answer, rely stating that it was an unfamiliar script requiring so reference materials for clarity, so the four of them started flipping through books together.
"Rustle, rustle..."
The entire study was silent, with only the continuous sound of pages turning.
Flipping through the pages, Richard raised an eyebrow as he suddenly sensed sothing, reaching into his pocket to take out a Crystal Ball, which was flashing a blood-red light in a rhythmic pattern.
He rapidly deciphered the content, which was a ssage from Annie, reporting that there was a significant danger in the forest where Tin Wood was located, and he needed to head there imdiately to provide support.
This!
He was slightly taken aback, his expression turning serious. The sudden call for aid was indeed unexpected, but not going was not an option, as he still wanted to continue exploiting Tin Wood to refine the Nuclear Material for him.
Cesi, sensing sothing, put down the book she was flipping through and looked over, guessing that sothing bad might have happened, and asked in a calm voice, "Sothing happened?"
"Yes." Richard nodded, "I might need to leave to handle sothing."
"Don’t rush, go ahead," Cesi said understandingly, "According to my estimation, deciphering these texts isn’t sothing that can be determined quickly. While you’re gone, Narlyd, Heidi, and I can slowly look through the materials. When we have results, I’ll ask Heidi to notify you, and then we can discuss how to cooperate on the deciphering, how does that sound?"
"That would be kind of you."
"It’s no trouble."
"Goodbye."
"Goodbye."
After a simple farewell, Richard didn’t dawdle, pushed the door open, and left, quickly contemplating the details of heading over for support.
From Farlo City to the forest where Tin Wood is located, the distance is not short. At his usual flight speed, it would take at least over a day. Going that slowly might an missing the opportunity, so he must increase the speed and fly with all his might; under such imnse exertion, it would be necessary to activate the Energy Furnace for power supply.
But the long activation of the Energy Furnace would take a considerable toll on the body, with Life Force consumption not being trivial. By then, he must find a way to make Tin Wood compensate him.
With these thoughts, he stomped his foot, and the four Energy Furnaces at his wrists and shoulders quickly activated, enveloping his whole body in a dense white light. He shot into the sky like a white rainbow, flying towards the northwest sky at an astonishing speed.
Inside the house, Heidi and Narlyd crowded by the window out of curiosity to watch this scene, whispering as they observed.
"So fast." Heidi marveled.
"Yeah, just like a swoosh, and he’s so far away," Narlyd agreed, slightly worried, "I wonder if going so fast will allow him to react in ti, what if he can’t dodge a bird in the sky and crashes head-on, that’d be terrible."
"..." Heidi asked, "Are you saying Mr. Richard would be in trouble, or the bird?"
"Both would be in trouble," Narlyd said, thinking seriously for a mont, and added, "But the bird would probably have it worse."
"Uh..."
"Alright, you two," at this, Witch Cesi’s voice ca from behind them, admonishing, "Stop watching, co back and focus on your books. Focus on your tasks, get things done first."
"Oh." Heidi and Narlyd shrank back a bit, obediently returned to their seats, and resud flipping through the books, searching for clues to decipher the text Richard had brought.
anwhile, Richard’s figure had already flown out of sight.
...
The spectacle of Richard’s flight had alard many in Farlo City.
For ordinary people, it was just an astonishing sight, but for the wizards, it triggered a strong reaction, realizing a powerful wizard was traveling and couldn’t help but speculate on which formidable presence had co to Farlo City.
Since Richard always wandered outside of the mainstream wizard circles, a group of wizards discussed for half a day yet ca to no conclusion.
In the mansion of the City Lord, the governor of Farlo City spotted the spectacle in the sky, watched for a long ti, then lightly shook his head and retracted his gaze. At this mont, a Black Robed official wizard rushed in.
The Black Robed Wizard wore a slightly worried expression and spoke, "My lord, I just checked the roster and found that the person who just left the city doesn’t seem to match anyone we know. Do you think we need to investigate?"
"No need," the governor was much more composed.
"Why?" The Black Robed Wizard was puzzled.
"Rember the one ntioned during the night banquet a few days ago?" the Execution Officer said, "It’s likely the one we just saw."
"How can you be sure?" the Black Robed Wizard was still uneasy, "What if it’s not..."
"Simple, send soone to check the residence," the governor replied, and after thinking for a mont, added, "Oh yes, tell them to be careful when they get to that street. No matter who it is, do not disturb them, as we’ve been especially reminded that the person values tranquility, and I don’t want to sour them or anger the higher-ups over such a trivial matter."
"Yes." The Black Robed Wizard acknowledged the order and left to dispatch agents.
anwhile, at around the sa ti, Bi Bi stepped onto the street where Richard’s residence was situated.
"Clack, clack, clack..."
Bi Bi sniffed the faint scent lingering in the air, stopping and going, and paused before the gate of a courtyard midway down the street, her face lit with excitent, her fists unconsciously clenching.
"Very close, very close, the target has been around here," Bi Bi spoke quickly, "Moreover, the ti was just now, no more than half an hour, at most within an hour. In that case, I must catch this guy, definitely! Let’s see how you run this ti!"
Saying this, Bi Bi looked at the courtyard gate, intending to break in forcefully.
Suddenly, she heard so sound and instinctively raised her head abruptly. In her vision, a white light swiftly streaked across the sky above her head, disappearing across the horizon in the blink of an eye.
Hmm?
Bi Bi was stunned.
Hmm?
Bi Bi sniffed the scent dissipating from the white light instinctively.
Hmm?
Bi Bi’s expression showed a mix of confusion, daze, puzzlent, and incomprehension.
"What’s happening? The person in that white light who just flew away has a scent that matches the one she’s been searching for. But the one she’s tracking is supposed to be in the courtyard?" Bi Bi frowned and then thought of sothing, quickly moving to the door, pressing against it, and taking a deep sniff. Her face changed.
She sensed that the target had indeed stayed inside but only for a short while before leaving.
This ant that the person she saw flying away was likely the one she’d been searching for—after leaving here, they paused sowhere unknown and then exited the city!
Which ant she let the target slip through her fingers again!
This!
This, this, this!
