The old man who walked out had wrinkles carved deeply into his skin, resembling chisel marks. His eyes were exceptionally bright, as if they held extraordinary wisdom, carrying a hint of anger at this mont.

His na was Moses, currently the eldest mber of the Ancestor Spirit Association, and like the recently deceased elder Yi Deng, he wore no necklace of teeth around his neck.

"Moses, is that you?" Seeing the thin elderly man step forward, Nu’an spoke out with slight surprise, frowning even more deeply.

The old man stopped Moses with little courtesy towards Nu’an, bluntly saying, "Nu’an boy, you should call Uncle Moses, have you forgotten your previous manners?"

Nu’an’s face turned dark, responding forcefully, "That was before, now, I am the leader of the Ancestor Spirit Association."

"So what if you’re the leader?" Moses retorted just as bluntly, "I am still a council mber of the Ancestor Spirit Association, and the oldest council mber at that. Surely you know that the highest authority in the Ancestor Spirit Association cos from the council. You as a leader are rely responsible for organizing daily operations when the council is not in session.

Do you think that as a leader, you can entirely place yourself above the council? Or, do you intend to disregard the system that the Ancestor Spirit Association has upheld for centuries? So tell , are you maintaining the order of the Ancestor Spirit Association, or are you disrupting it?"

"I..." Nu’an looked at Moses, sowhat at a loss for words.

Moses said in a deep voice, "Then I’ll ask you again, should you continue to call Uncle Moses or not?"

"I..." Nu’an hesitated for a few seconds, then slightly lowered his head, "Uncle Moses."

"Very well!" Moses said.

"As long as you’re satisfied." Nu’an took a deep breath, looking at the elder with a slightly odd tone, "My Uncle Moses, I’m very curious, what exactly do you want to say by standing up? Surely not just to have address you?"

"Of course not!" Moses replied, "I stood up to express my dissent to you, to voice my dissatisfaction with your judgnt of Yi Deng."

"Yi Deng’s cris are obvious, the evidence is conclusive, I don’t think I handled it improperly." Nu’an said seriously.

"Is that so, hmph!" Moses sneered, his face carrying a cold smile, snorting again with full disdain, "I don’t wish to argue about the truth with you, but the notion that Yi Deng and Barry conspired to split the Ancestor Spirit Association is utterly ridiculous.

So things don’t need to be hidden, everyone understands that you took Barry’s position, which made Barry very dissatisfied with you, wanting to kill you in revenge. As for you, you weren’t entirely kindhearted towards Barry; if he failed to return from his mission this ti, there’s a fifty percent chance it was due to your sabotage.

But even if Barry hates you, hates you to the core, he wouldn’t split the Ancestor Spirit Association. This isn’t about trusting him, but understanding him, or rather, understanding his capabilities — Barry is unlike you, he has average abilities, average courage, and average intellect. He only thinks about simple solutions and wouldn’t dare to consider dividing the organization, let alone succeed in doing so. As for Yi Deng, a good-natured person, soone who wouldn’t dare offend anyone, would he dare to get involved in such a conspiracy? Unless he went mad!

So this entire trial assembly, from beginning to end, was nothing but a complete farce, a sham. If I were to believe it otherwise, it wouldn’t just be an insult to my character, it would be an insult to my intelligence as well."

"Enough!" Nu’an interrupted Moses with an unpleasant expression, raising his voice, "Uncle Moses, you need evidence to speak."

"So things are clear enough for everyone to see, there’s no need for evidence." Moses retorted.

"No, evidence is still needed." Nu’an insisted, his tone unwavering, "Evidence proves the truth, without it, it’s just speculation. I respect you, but if you continue to speak so recklessly, don’t bla for being discourteous. You may be a council mber, but that doesn’t an you can do as you please."

"What, you intend to make a move against , Nu’an boy?!" Moses stared directly at Nu’an with incredibly sharp eyes.

Nu’an’s eyes seed pricked, causing him to instinctively step back, his eyebrows twitching as he gazed at Moses, "How could I dare, but—"

As he spoke, Nu’an suddenly clenched his fist.

"Swish swish!"

Two whooshing sounds imdiately ca from behind Moses. As Moses looked back, he saw two n whistling towards him from the outskirts of the square.

The necklaces around the necks of both n, adorned with over a dozen teeth, marked them as Moses’s two trusted aides, both incredibly powerful — one nad Jeff, and the other Hart. Ever since Moses stepped out, they had been awaiting Nu’an’s signal, and the mont he gestured, they unhesitatingly launched their attack.

Moses had not expected Nu’an to be so bold, slightly taken aback. After the surprise, ca utter fury.

However, anger did not cause him to lose his composure. He gritted his teeth, stamped his foot, and charged rapidly towards the outskirts, preparing to break through — he was fully aware that remaining here would an certain death, and only by fleeing would he have a slim chance of survival.

But that slim chance was not easily obtained, for during his breakout attempt, Jeff and Hart quickly pursued, closing the distance. anwhile, Nu’an’s other subordinates on the square’s periter began to surround him, preparing to coordinate with Jeff and Hart.

Am I really going to die here... Moses felt a bit of despair, his heart starting to chill, regretting his previous impulsive actions.

But there’s no magic potion for regret in this world.

With steely resolve, knowing escape was nearly impossible, he abruptly turned around to face the approaching Jeff and Hart. Though conscious that he was not their match, he was prepared for a desperate strike.

The mana inside him surged rapidly, poised to unleash, while Jeff and Hart had drawn incredibly close, raising their hands to release their spells. At this mont, he suddenly noticed sothing falling from the sky into his view.

Hmm?

"Boom!"

The next instant, before anyone, including Moses, could react, there erupted a trendous sound.

It was as if a teor had crashed into the square, unleashing a powerful shockwave that caused everyone’s bodies to tremble.

Being very close, Moses, Jeff, and Hart, wholly unprepared, were blasted away by the shockwave, flying over ten ters before crashing to the ground.

A mont later, they struggled to their feet, and along with everyone else in the square, they looked warily and confusedly at what had suddenly fallen from the sky.

Inside and outside the square, torches, montarily suppressed to almost extinguishing by the powerful gust, started to flicker back to life, gradually returning to normal, as the stirred dust slowly settled, revealing what lay at the collective point of their gaze.

What they saw was a person, a young man.

The young man was holding soone, looking half-dead, as if he had spent an entire day on a rollercoaster. However, they recognized him — it was Barry, the previous leader of the Ancestor Spirit Association’s son, a mber of the Ancestor Spirit Association who had gone missing during a mission.

"Gulp!"

Many in the square swallowed hard, their minds struggling to comprehend the significance of the scene before them.
