Capítulo 1122: Chapter 1120: Igniting the Gunpowder
“Where did these ores co from?!” A few seconds later, Annie turned to look at the white-haired old man, speaking quickly, “How much is there? What’s the price? I’ll take them all!”
“Oh, is that so.” The white-haired old man listened to Annie’s words but didn’t show any excitent, as if he wouldn’t earn any commission from consignnt. Like before, he looked at Annie nonchalantly and said slowly, “I really have to think about it, getting old makes the mory poor, I think it was—”
Halfway through speaking, the white-haired old man’s tone stretched on, then… just ended…
Annie waited for a full half-minute, noticing there was no continuation, feeling a slowly rising anger from her abdon. She lifted a hand, ready to drag the white-haired old man out from behind the counter for a violent interrogation.
At this mont, she noticed the white-haired old man suddenly looking toward the door.
Hmm? What?
With curiosity, she followed his gaze to the door, seeing a young woman her age walk in, her long hair brushing her shoulders.
Her gaze naturally t with the woman’s.
“You…” Annie opened her mouth, wanting to ask.
Just then, a “boom” sounded.
From sowhere outside Newcastle City, a massive explosion roared, causing the already shaky shelves in the shop to creak with unstable noises.
This?
Annie was startled.
She saw the young woman who had just entered also freeze, evidently as clueless as she was about what had happened.
Instead, the white-haired old man behind the counter was the quickest to understand what was happening, rushing out from the counter while shouting.
“It’s war! Wizards are casting spells! Run! Run!”
“Wow!”
Outside on the streets, all over Newcastle City, there were sounds of chaos.
Annie’s body tightened, and as a stress response, mana started to erge within her. She then noticed the young woman at the door also taking on a guarded stance, with the sa mana fluctuations appearing.
They exchanged a glance, both showing expressions of “You’re the sa as ,” then looked together toward the direction outside the city.
“What’s going on?” Annie asked in a low voice.
After a mont, she heard the woman at the door respond, “I don’t know.”
“Uh…”
…
On the plains outside Newcastle City, several miles away.
“Bang!”
Accompanied by the sound of a heavy object hitting the ground, a figure fell from the sky.
The figure that fell was a military wizard from the Soma Alliance, possessing the cultivation of a First-level Wizard Peak, which should ordinarily be of high status but was now extrely ragged.
It’s clear to see that his clothes were burned away by flas, revealing a scorched black chest, with most of the hair also singed, and he lay on the ground like a beggar, blood just flowing from underneath him as his eyes remained shut, obviously severely injured.
“Chester Wizard, Lord Chester!” Two young male figures quickly ran to the vicinity, one shouting, while the other conjured a faint green light in his hands, pressing toward the injured wizard’s chest. They were Military Wizard Apprentices tasked with assisting wizard battles, now flustered as they tried to treat the heavily injured wizard.
The wizard known as Chester wasn’t in too dire straits, and under the weak treatnt, he slowly awoke.
Opening his eyes, Chester saw the tense expressions of the two wizard apprentices close by and glanced further away, spotting a Sika Kingdom Wizard dressed in a blue-gray robe making a fast getaway.
Earlier, this wizard had badly injured him with a surprise attack, and now was preparing to raid a Soma Alliance scout post’s Magic Knights.
Indeed, the opponent was raiding the scout post.
Chester’s eyes widened, utilizing his far superior eyesight, able to clearly see the Sika Wizard conjuring rolling fierce flas in his hands, scattering them towards the ground. Below were so Magic Knights of the Soma Alliance who had just beco aware but hadn’t had ti to attack, and monts later were engulfed by the flas.
After killing a few Magic Knights, the Sika Kingdom Wizard didn’t stop, again flying toward another scout post nearby, attempting to repeat the trick.
Chester felt his body warm up.
He’s very aware that nearby, there are three Soma Alliance scout posts in total, jointly guarding a stationed troop point, thereby forming a relatively forward defense line on the border, which under certain circumstances could hold a certain advantage.
And now, Sika Kingdom evidently intends to destroy this segnt of the defense line including the scout posts and stationed troop point.
Behind the Sika Wizard, on the horizon in the distance, the sound of “rumble” horse hooves began to rise, these were the cavalry prepared to support the Sika Wizard.
Damn it, this is the Sika instigating war!
Chester felt his blood boiling all over, wanting desperately to fight back, to give the Sika a proper lesson, but the sharp pains in his chest and back also reminded him that it was utterly impossible to accomplish this task—during the prior ambush, he’d already taken unmanageable injuries and was simply no match for the Sika Kingdom military wizard, much less the subsequent cavalry following up.
“What do we do, Chester Wizard?”
“What shall we do, Lord Chester?”
The two wizard apprentices’ faces turned pale, incessantly asking, their voices trembling like annoying mosquitoes to his ears.
“Shut up!” Chester roared, struggling to his feet, looking toward the Sika Wizard who had already destroyed a second scout post and was flying toward the last.
Taking a deep breath, forcibly suppressing the injuries, he commanded the two wizard apprentices, “Stay calm!”
“Now the situation is clear, it’s the Sika Kingdom provoking us, they absolutely can’t succeed.”
“Now, I’ll relay the information to the military. But they won’t easily get detailed info, so I’m entrusting you two with a task, and that is to bypass the stationed troop point, head separately to the military camp, and tell the military everything you witnessed. Hopefully, the stationed troop can hold out until you return with reinforcents.”
“What about you, sir?” the two wizard apprentices asked.
“…” Chester’s expression slightly sterned, “I’ll certainly do my utmost to stall that damn Sika Wizard, otherwise how could the stationed troop hold out, and how could you both leave safely.”
With these words, Chester felt for a crystal ball from his waist, quickly injecting mana to activate it.
Monts later, a pre-arranged vague ssage was sent out, Chester crushed the crystal ball with a “crack.” Then, with a step forward, he hunched his body, coughing lightly as he charged toward the Sika Kingdom’s military wizard, eyes bloodshot.
“Go!” Chester shouted his final words.
The two wizard apprentices’ bodies shook, exchanged glances, then without hesitation, ran left and right swiftly toward their defense line’s depths.
“Boom boom!”
As they ran, the sky above their heads erupted with a series of booms.
The two wizards comnced an intense battle.
“Tatatat!”
In the distance, dense horse hoofbeats surged nearer on the horizon.
“Shwish shwish shwish!”
Within the stationed troop point, the reacting soldiers started pulling large chanical crossbows ready to shoot, attempting to assist their wizard, but it didn’t have much effect.
Further afield, whether in the Soma Alliance or the Sika Kingdom, both military camps began a series of sequential changes.
A battle growing more fierce was on the verge of erupting.
