Suffering...
Tornt...
The collision of these two thoughts made Du Wei utterly devastated.
Moreover, this was a ss he had created himself.
Because he felt that this state was wrong.
This shouldn't be him.
"The problem lies with the Evil Spirit part of ..."
Du Wei gritted his teeth, his voice hoarse with pain as he clutched his head and kept moving.
On a rainy night just before dawn, he, like an Evil Spirit, vanished in the blink of an eye, leaving New York nearly a hundred kiloters behind.
When he encountered that middle-aged driver, he actually wanted to kill him.
Without reason.
A complete trampling of life.
Du Wei was no saint, but he wasn't inherently bad, either.
He was an egoist who, when possible, would offer help to others, provided that they had a good relationship with him.
Like Father Tony, like Tom.
Before, he had even wanted to rescue Ryan from Dusk Bell Church.
Because that's what he should have done.
But now, seeing a living person made him want to kill, and if that driver hadn't spoken words of kindness, Du Wei would have crushed him into a mist of blood by now.
Du Wei and the Evil Spirit Du Wei had already rged.
But the fusion was imperfect because the Evil Spirit Du Wei had assimilated too many chaotic elents—the Mirror Evil Spirit, Evil Spirits, and even a part of Pennywise.
As a result, the true nature of the Evil Spirit Du Wei had deviated slightly.
This led to the current Du Wei having two sets of thoughts—he could only suppress his own graceful, rciless, and extrely indifferent evil side.
As for his good side?
It seed he lacked such a thing.
"I need to find a way to eliminate all the ssy stuff, otherwise, I might go to another extre."
Du Wei's voice was fierce as he stood in the middle of a wilderness.
The surroundings were vast and boundless, empty and desolate, which was disconcerting.
"Esselgreen and Yard City's crossroads?"
"Is this the wheat field where I killed Mary Shaw?"
A flicker of clarity shone in Du Wei's eyes as his mind raced.
The reason he referred to himself as 'I' was that, after the fusion, the mories of both were synchronized. What the Evil Spirit Du Wei had done was as if he had done it himself.
All the past was his own experience.
The next second.
Du Wei once again disappeared.
When he reappeared, he was in a house in Esselgreen City, the entrance of which was cordoned off with barriers and sealed with tape.
There was also a sign hanging—[No Entry]
Yet Du Wei walked in as if he hadn't seen it, his body like a shadow.
Barriers, the locked doors of the house, did not hinder him at all; he entered by walking.
The living room ca into view.
Many photos were hanging on the walls, so of a family of three, others of two teenage girls posing together for a selfie.
This was the ho of Tom's beloved deceased neighbor, Joanna, in Esselgreen.
And in the basent of this house, there was a door.
Known as: Hell's Gate.
The Veda Sect had tried many tis to open this door, but with every opening, so individuals would disappear.
No one would rember those people, not even their nas or genders.
This was a conceptual disappearance.
An accident ten years ago had resulted in the creation of a school, as well as over a hundred student spirits.
People from the Vanity Sect had shown up at that ti, and the na Hell's Gate was suggested by that mysterious individual.
Du Wei didn't intend to open that door.
Rather, he wanted to enter the passage behind it.
Because he rembered clearly that at the end of the passage, the top had an outline of a human face, with lines delineating parts of the mouth and eyes.
Just by looking up, one could see sothing eerie.
Bishop Slivka saw a woman with rotting skin and silver hair, whom he declared to be the Lord.
But Du Wei saw nothing.
Now, however, he wanted to have a look.
The initial form of the Evil Spirit Du Wei was the Masked Evil Spirit, and the mask was a replica of the Primitive Mask of the Vanity Sect.
In the distant past, a powerful individual had crafted the mask.
Most importantly, Du Wei's father-in-law Lawrence had also ntioned that the creator of the mask had visited the Wittebach family and left behind a prophecy.
That individual must have lived for a very long ti.
"The mories of the Evil Spirit Du Wei do not hold that individual because it wasn't the first Masked Evil Spirit."
The face-changing chanism involved a spirit from the mask taking possession, with the face-changed individual entering the mask and becoming the Masked Evil Spirit.
"However, it has a recollection of the face outline at the top of the passage."
"This may solve the problem I am facing now."
Du Wei murmured to himself as he walked to the entrance of the basent.
Sandbags blocked the basent entrance.
But Du Wei could see a trace of eerie power continuously seeping out, as if whispering in secret, with a tempting tone.
"Hell's Gate..."
Du Wei ignored the tempting whispers, waved his hand, and the sandbags flew out on their own.
Soon.
The staircase appeared before him.
The basent was dark and creepy, pitch-black.
But the current Du Wei could clearly see every corner.
There was no need to enter the state of Spirit Vision.
His perspective was that of the Evil Spirit.
Dat, dat, dat...
Footsteps sounded.
...
Moist, sticky.
Many pieces of torn cloth and miscellaneous items parted on their own.
A door, tightly locked by huge chains, appeared in front of Du Wei.
"Is Hell truly connected behind this door?"
A thought flashed through his mind, but he calmly snuffed it out; as long as he didn't open it, nothing would happen.
When Du Wei first saw Hell's Gate, he only felt it was strange, but now, he had an inexplicable intuition that if he opened it, even after rging with it, he wouldn't be able to resist that conceptually existential erasure.
Gah-gee...
His pupils contracted as the wooden door moved on its own.
What was exposed was a narrow, human-shaped passageway.
Then, Du Wei's complexion started to change.
"Is sothing calling ?"
"Is it that face contour?"
Du Wei waved his hand indifferently.
A mask appeared on its own and settled on his face; the dark shadow, however, didn't possess him but appeared in a corner, bloodshot eyes fixated on Du Wei.
The two daggers rose occasionally, only to fall again.
The current Du Wei was indistinguishable to it.
It was very intent on killing the Evil Spirit Du Wei but didn't dare to.
Then, dice, lighters, coins, flintlock guns—all floated beside him.
They seed like guards.
Now possessing the power of Evil Spirit Du Wei, the effects he exhibited when using these items had almost changed in nature.
If there were danger, he would simply overpower and kill.
He had this confidence.
...
After a short while.
He arrived at the turn at the end of the passageway.
Du Wei lifted his head to look.
There was a face contour above.
The feeling of being summoned ca from that face contour.
An unusual fluctuation was spreading.
It triggered the pain Du Wei had been repressing.
He groaned, the collision of two thoughts in his mind giving him an urge to tear sothing apart.
Even before his eyes, it seed as if he were seeing so strange illusions, and in his ears, there seed to be soone whispering abstruse language.
Ah...
Du Wei bent over in pain, a strong sense of dizziness swept over him, he felt the urge to vomit...
But the aura emanating from him was exceptionally suppressed.
All along the passageway's walls, cracks began to appear.
His eyes grew colder and more sinister, his deanor also carried an indescribable elegance.
He was leaning towards the evil side.
But this didn't an the Evil Spirit Du Wei had co back to life.
For example, when a person is in a bad mood, they might be irritable and cold.
But when in a good mood, they can be gentle and calm.
"All of you, get out of here!"
Du Wei abruptly lifted his head, a profound darkness surfacing in the depths of his eyes, which beca utterly pitch black in an instant.
The eerie pattern on his right hand hid beneath the mask.
Click...
It was as if the sound of a mirror shattering.
Then, a transparent figure exuding an evil aura burst out of Du Wei's body as if fleeing.
Yet just as it thought to escape, Du Wei reached out his hand, catching the transparent figure in his grasp.
It was the Evil Spirit.
"You were the first to launch a sneak attack on !"
Du Wei looked coldly at the Evil Spirit struggling in his hand and squeezed forcefully.
Boom...
The Evil Spirit almost burst under the pressure.
"Killing you just like this would be letting you off too easily. Aren't you able to initiate bets and grant wishes? Then transform into what you should beco."
Du Wei casually flung the Evil Spirit away, but his pupils contracted as the latter seed to hit an invisible wall, trapped in place.
He extended his right hand again and squeezed, compressing the whole Evil Spirit into a mass.
Upon releasing his grip, the compressed Evil Spirit was torn apart.
Two Joker Cards floated in the air, flying to Du Wei's side.
Seemingly still unsatisfied.
Du Wei placed his hand over his heart, pulled gently, and extracted a severed fuse.
All impurities had been eradicated.
The conflict of thoughts no longer existed.
Du Wei looked at the severed fuse in his hand and suddenly smiled.
"I detest betrayal, so Pennywise, did you think you could escape ?"
"What gave you that confidence?"
After he finished speaking, Du Wei coldly glanced at the face contour above his head, frowned in disgust, and waved his hand nonchalantly before turning to walk away.
After he left.
The entire passageway started to tremble, with nurous cracks spreading and dust flying.
It collapsed...
