Chapter 292: 290, Oil Painting

In the principal’s office.

The dimly lit room was illuminated by projected images.

Du Wei looked at the screen on the white curtain opposite him, his expression a bit unusual.

In the video.

There were four people in total: two girls just over ten years old wearing white dresses, a woman dressed as a midwife, and a middle-aged man who always stood at the back.

The scene was a house, sparsely decorated, with a cool base tone, and the walls bore so special symbols. On the floor, a hexagram had been drawn with red paint, which could also be animal blood.

At each point of the hexagram, there was a candle.

There was no sound to the footage.

However, this was not a significant issue because there wasn’t much dialogue in the video; it was evident that a ritual was taking place.

Next, Du Wei saw the two little girls, under the midwife’s guidance, stand at two points of the hexagram and close their eyes, seemingly entering a strange state.

“It’s ditation…”

Du Wei raised his eyebrows, there was relevant information in psychology, and the church also had introductions to ditation.

This was not very high-end stuff; even online it could be found.

As for ordinary people, ditation is typically for relaxation, to soothe the mind.

When it involved religion, ditation related to communicating with the deities of the Envelope.

All current information pointed towards the Veda Sect, so in other words, the two little girls in the videotape were actually ditating in an attempt to communicate with the so-called Vedas.

This piqued Du Wei’s interest slightly.

At the sa ti, he noticed that the atmosphere in the room had beco much more oppressive than before.

Aside from the projector screen’s light, the entire room had grown very dim.

This dimness was not affected by light sources, but was ontological; in simple terms, apart from Du Wei, there was sothing else in this principal’s office.

He was very clear in his mind but was not concerned; instead, he continued to watch.

A tape ended quickly, lasting only seven or eight minutes.

“Shorter than I expected…”

Du Wei remarked, as he took out another tape and put it into the projector.

This ti, the scene was slightly different. The middle-aged man who had been silent and watching from the side began to instruct the two little girls to perform so strange poses.

Then there was more ditation…

It resembled a complete course of instruction, and this was just the beginning.

Having no choice, Du Wei kept watching and changed tapes continuously.

With each play of a video, the room beca even darker.

By the ti the last tape began to play, Du Wei was sitting on the sofa, enveloped by darkness.

In an unseen dark corner, a cold gaze was locked onto him.

Click…

In the darkness, a strand of red fla sparked to life.

Du Wei pressed the lighter, illuminating his face.

“Actually, there’s sothing I’ve always been puzzled about. You have a na and are very likely a demon, but what you’ve shown all along doesn’t seem quite like what a demon would do.”

“Those evil spirits and teachers were influenced by you, you should be terrifying, yet you’ve never made a move on .”

“I know you must have so sort of purpose, but I can’t figure out why you keep lowering your standards, being so tolerant with .”

“Is it truly that you don’t wish to kill , or that you can’t?”

He was addressing these words to the manipulator behind the scenes.

Of course, he didn’t ntion the journal because he was still habitually letting the other party think everything was under control.

But Du Wei also knew that its tolerance for him was dwindling.

Before, it hid in the dark, high and mighty, but now it had co into the open, looking to pressure him.

It seed to care a lot about the way to leave.

But Du Wei just wouldn’t leave…

As he pushed the door open, he knew there were two ways out, and with the items on him, he could leave the school safely.

However, for him now, not leaving would actually tie the hands and feet of the mastermind behind the scenes, and by causing destruction, he would soon make the opponent follow his own train of thought.

The fla from the lighter gradually dispelled the shadows enveloping Du Wei.

At this mont, the scene on the curtain had reached a critical juncture.

Du Wei noticed…

After the two little girls entered ditation, their bodies began to tremble nonstop, accompanied by slight swaying.

At the sa ti, their movents were eerily synchronized, as if they had so telepathic connection.

Furthermore, they both raised their right hands simultaneously, moving them flatly to align with the very center of the curtain.

They pointed directly at Du Wei.

What was most important was that when the two girls pointed at Du Wei, they were also muttering so words, causing the middle-aged man standing beside them to change his complexion dramatically.

It was as if he had discovered sothing, and he walked into the center of the scene, waving his hands nonstop.

It looked like he was waving at Du Wei.

Seeing this scene.

Du Wei revealed an ironic smile, “I’ve just thought of sothing very interesting…”

While saying that, he pulled out the videotape and stuffed it into his backpack.

Then he turned and left without hesitation.

There was no need to have those students watch the videotape anymore; he had figured out what kind of a haunted place this was.

He had also uncovered the secret here.

Tracing back to the source, everything was the doing of the Veda Sect, or rather, what the Veda Sect did in this school ten years ago.

Based on what Tom had told him as well as information from the church and Esselgreen’s investigations,

Joanna had been sent to a certain school ten years ago, and her best friend was also one of the students there.

But afterward, Joanna dropped out, and her best friend, along with all the students, vanished along with the school.

They ceased to exist in reality.

After Du Wei opened the door, the ti node that appeared was the school from ten years ago, but all the students in the school were Evil Spirits.

So the actual concept of ti travel did not exist.

What existed was just another school fabricated to represent that from ten years ago.

It might sound a bit hard to understand; to put it another way, Du Wei actually entered this world through the painting nad “Another Door,”

His pushing open the door was tantamount to opening the door in the painting.

So in actuality, he was within the door of the painting, not the real school behind that door.

Du Wei snickered inwardly, “No wonder, those student Evil Spirits always gave a strange feeling. It turns out they don’t really exist at all. All the oppression and malice is simply from within that painting.”

“What an ironic script, but I have to wonder, are you really demons?”

“Headmaster Hoddy, frankly speaking, you feel very much like a person to …”

Bang…

Du Wei kicked open the door.

In the corridor outside, “people” were already filling the space.

All the students and teachers stood in the corridor, watching Du Wei with expressionless faces and chillingly terrifying looks.

This was within his expectations; the opponent, having intelligence, would not fail to adopt a new strategy.

Threatening a disobedient actor made perfect sense.

Therefore, Du Wei raised an eyebrow and feigned terror, “This shouldn’t be happening… Why is it like this, no… I must leave imdiately…”
