Chapter 258: 257, Start

“`

North Brook District, near the street opposite the psychological counseling clinic.

In the coffee shop that Du Wei and Officer Tom often visited.

Hannibal sat in a corner, took a sip of coffee, and then put down the cup.

He held a cell phone in his left hand, and as he listened to the “invitation” on the other end, a glint of interest flashed in his eyes.

On the phone, Du Wei’s voice arose, “You want to turn into one of your kind, and I want to kill you; we are both very clear about that, so let’s settle this with a ga.”

Hannibal said in a low voice, “I’m quite interested, so what are the rules of the ga?”

Du Wei answered, “I will go to the abandoned old industrial area in Scolyn City, where an entire block is filled with mirror workshops, hiding within is an extrely dangerous Evil Spirit.”

“The ga will take place there; I will try to kill you by any ans necessary.”

“It’s a ga without rules, but there will be winners and losers.”

Upon hearing this, Hannibal’s lips curled into a sinister smile.

His laughter was deep, “A sufficiently dangerous location, two opposing hunters pitting against each other, this ga really is intriguing.”

“But I know, you must have a way to kill ; this ga is not fair.”

Du Wei’s voice was cold, “In this world, there’s never any such thing as fairness.”

Hannibal indifferently stated, “My kin, you really are impatient, but I accept your invitation because you will definitely lose.”

Du Wei said calmly, “Then the ga begins.”

As he spoke, he hung up the call.

Hannibal put away his cell phone, pulled his cap down low, knowing that Du Wei wanted to kill him, but he didn’t care at all.

“The beginning of one story often signifies the end of another.”

With that, he stood up and walked out.

Under the dim light of the coffee shop, his shadow stretched long and sowhat bloated, as if many shadows were overlapping.

Elsewhere.

After putting down the phone, Du Wei put on a pair of white gloves.

They were given to him by Bishop Slivka and Jon when dealing with that door earlier, and they hadn’t asked for them back since, which could be considered a favor.

When he looked up again, his gaze swept across the room.

It was now evening, and even with the lights on, the illumination seed to be shrouded in a haze due to the evil spirit problem in his house, making it very dim.

On the wall, the Antique Clock and Annabelle remained unchanged.

In the corner’s shadow, a human silhouette stood silently, nearly invisible unless one paid close attention.

He spoke with an odd tone, “Is it because you’ve been tricked by so many tis that I feel you’re getting wiser?”

The shadow on hearing this imdiately vanished into the darkness.

Always, Du Wei had found the shadow to be very unusual, with its broad reach and very apparent malicious intent towards people. It could grow extrely terrifying in a short ti if given the right conditions.

But now…

The eyes of the shadow were gone, it was actually another brand-new Masked Evil Spirit.

And it was bound to Du Wei forever, with no possibility of escaping this relationship.

As long as Du Wei was strong enough, with enough trump cards, the shadow had no chance to turn against him, becoming one of his tools.

At that mont.

Du Wei took out his gun, checked the safety, then slung his bag over his shoulder and left.

Killing an Evil Spirit could be troubleso, but to kill a hunter often only requires a single bullet.

And Du Wei had already killed a hunter before.

The evening of June 6th at 9 o’clock.

“`

A McLaren GT left New York, heading toward the highway leading to Scolyn City.

For Du Wei, Scolyn City wasn’t that unfamiliar.

A few pages back, in Scolyn City’s museum, there existed a cursed item similar to the mask—the painting known as “Another Door.”

Prior to that, at the very beginning, there was the cultist neighbor Roy who had his head twisted off like a towel by the shadow.

That Roy had once tried to deceive Du Wei, telling him that she was going to stay in Scolyn City for a week.

Of course, her goal was not the painting; it was rely an excuse to dispose of a body.

In the car.

Du Wei was driving when his phone suddenly vibrated, alerting him to a docunt he had received.

Upon opening it, it contained so information records about the Mirror Evil Spirit from the church.

In addition to preparing trump cards in advance, he also chose to investigate information.

And when it ca to information about evil spirits, no one knew better than the church.

Previously his role was as an exorcist in charge of New York’s evil spirit incidents, but now he was the church’s hunter and the vice-director of the Tribunal.

The church wouldn’t keep information from him on such matters.

Du Wei glanced at the contents of the docunt while driving.

The title was simple and straightforward: Scolyn Old Industrial District Mirror Evil Spirit Information Record.

The content was as follows:

[Danger level of the Evil Spirit: Extrely High]

[Counterasures: Seal off, No entry allowed]

Beyond that, there were so issues analyzed by the church after confronting this Mirror Evil Spirit.

First off, the number of exorcists who had died because of the Mirror Evil Spirit had reached 30, none of whom had left alive from the inside.

And that hunter had paid with an arm to successfully make it out alive.

According to that hunter’s recollection, the Mirror Evil Spirit’s manifestation was very special; the entire abandoned district itself was a workshop for making mirrors, and those leftover mirrors could all potentially be dia for the evil spirit.

Because it could appear at any ti.

And without prior knowledge, one could easily be attacked by the evil spirit.

The specific manifestation was being pulled into a mirror, with spatial disorientation occurring.

The mirror was the Evil Spirit’s ho turf, the longer one stayed inside, the harder it got to leave, but breaking the mirror could lead to a successful exit.

Seeing this,

Du Wei felt sowhat more at ease.

The items he carried were sufficient to protect himself, and breaking mirrors was not that difficult for him.

The only thing to consider was whether the Mirror Evil Spirit could initiate the face-swapping chanism, making it so that the Evil Spirit Du Wei wouldn’t be killed the mont he appeared.

“I hope it can hold on a little longer,” he sighed.

Du Wei took a deep breath, pushing these thoughts to the back of his mind.

Things had to be done step by step.

According to the plan, he had to kill Hannibal first.

Doing so would make his relationship with the Dusk Bell even worse.

But given the situation, he couldn’t just pull in an uncontrollable evil spirit at the last mont nor could he find a new hunter.

The enmity between Hannibal and him was irreconcilable.

There was no way this ntally unstable person would give up on the idea of turning Du Wei into his own kind; after weighing the options, killing him was the best solution.

“In three hours, I will arrive in Scolyn City. Hannibal should be following behind, but it’s also possible he’s ahead of ,”

“But no matter what, it won’t affect this ga in the slightest.”
