Chapter 69: Chapter

For a mont, no one spoke.

Li Manman still stood there, pale as paper and Fu Fong’s face looked ugly.

The head guard finally waved his hand.

"That is enough," he said as he looked around the yard.

"Everyone, get ready. We leave in five minutes."

The order broke the silence.

People imdiately started moving.

So picked up their bundles. Others hurried back to their carts. The crowd slowly scattered and returned to their own business.

The noisy yard quickly beca busy again.

Fu Fong suddenly grabbed Li Manman’s arm.

"Co," he said coldly.

His grip was rough as he dragged her toward the Fu family.

Li Manman stumbled but followed him without a word.

Aunt Fu quickly went after them, still talking excitedly.

Grandma Fu followed too, muttering under her breath.

I watched them leave and slowly let out a long breath.

"Well..." I said quietly.

I couldn’t help smiling.

That drama had finally ended.

Not far away, Bai Ming stood with her two children.

After a mont, she walked toward Han Fuji.

"Sir Han," she said politely.

Han Fuji turned to look at her.

Bai Ming bowed slightly.

"Thank you for helping

today."

Han Fuji suddenly looked a little embarrassed.

He scratched the back of his head awkwardly.

"You... you don’t need to thank ," he said.

"I simply said what was fair."

He paused, then added quietly,

"I also don’t like seeing won suffer in their own hos."

Bai Ming gave a small nod.

"I understand. But you still helped ."

Han Fuji looked at her for a mont.

Then he cleared his throat.

"Well... if you ever need help again..." he said awkwardly, "I am here."

Bai Ming smiled faintly.

"Thank you."

The two of them exchanged a respectful bow.

For a mont, Han Fuji’s eyes stayed on her a little longer than necessary.

Then he quickly turned around, looking slightly flustered.

Without another word, he walked away into the crowd.

I watched him go with interest.

Interesting...

Very interesting.

I turned my head and looked at Fu Sheng beside .

"Well," I said quietly, "did you see that?"

Fu Sheng looked confused.

"See what?"

I leaned closer with a small grin.

"That Songshi," I whispered. "Don’t you think he was looking at Bai Ming a little too carefully?"

Fu Sheng raised an eyebrow.

"Su Long," he said calmly, "she just got out of one relationship."

"And you are already matching her with soone else?"

I blinked once.

Then I shrugged.

"What?" I said innocently. "I’m just observing."

Fu Sheng shook his head with a helpless smile.

"You really have too much free ti."

I folded my arms proudly.

"Well, exile life is boring," I said. "Soone has to notice these things."

Fu Sheng chuckled softly.

But as the guards began shouting for everyone to line up—

I glanced once more at the direction Han Fuji had walked away.

Sothing told

this man would appear again soon.

...

The guards began shouting for everyone to move.

"Line up!"

"Prepare to leave!"

The yard quickly beca busy.

People lifted their bundles and hurried toward their carts.

Fu Sheng and I walked back to where Master Fu and Mada Fu were waiting.

Master Fu sat in the carriage with a tired look on his face. Mada Fu sat quietly, holding a small cloth bag.

Neither of them said much.

Too much had already happened today.

"I just want us to reach the barren lands once and for all then we won’t be traveling so far all the ti." Fu Teng said.

"Hmm... But once we reach the barren lands, our hope of ever returning will be.." Fu Tong was about to finish but Master Fu stopped him.

"Whatever happened has happened we just have to learn to live... we will survive Im very sure of it."

His words seed to console them for a mont but everyone knew that the barren lands won’t be so easy.

Sigh! Well maybe they would be thinking differently if they knew that their sister in law had a system and a space hidden in her sleeves.

Fu Sheng gently lifted the boys and placed them inside the carriage.

"Sit properly," he told them.

Fu Jin nodded calmly while Fu Jun looked around curiously.

Soon the guards opened the gate.

One by one, the long line of exiles began to move.

The wheels of the carts creaked as they rolled forward.

Slowly, the entire group began leaving the caravan yard.

Dust rose into the air as hundreds of feet stepped onto the road.

I walked beside Fu Sheng while the carriage followed behind us.

Not far away, I could see Bai Ming walking with Fu Qin and Fu Lin.

The two children held tightly onto her hands.

On the other side, Fu Fong walked with the rest of the Fu family.

Li Manman followed beside him quietly, her face pale.

Everyone was tired.

After a while, the head guard rode forward on his horse.

He looked back at the long line of exiles.

"Listen carefully!" he shouted.

The crowd slowly beca quiet.

"We will reach the Barren Lands in two days."

So people sighed in relief.

"At the barren land we will rest and receive supplies."

He paused before adding firmly,

"Until then, keep moving and don’t cause trouble."

With that, he turned his horse and continued leading the group forward.

....

We walked for almost half the day.

The sun beca hotter and the road grew dusty. Step by step, everyone moved forward, but it was clear people were getting tired.

Even the guards looked exhausted, though they were used to long journeys like this.

The head guard finally noticed.

He slowed his horse and looked back at the long line of exiles. Many people were walking slower now, not because they were lazy, but because their legs were simply giving out.

He sighed and raised his hand.

"Stop for ten minutes," he shouted. "Rest a little, then we continue."

The mont people heard that, many sighed in relief.

So quickly sat on the ground. Others leaned against trees or rocks. Everyone looked grateful for even a short rest.

Fu Sheng led our family to a small shady spot by the side of the road.

Master Fu stayed in the carriage while Mada Fu sat beside him.

Fu Teng imdiately dropped to the ground.

"My legs are gone," he groaned.

Fu Tong sat beside him and laughed lightly.

"You’ve been complaining since morning."

Fu Teng gave him a weak glare but didn’t bother replying.

Fu Jin and Fu Jun stayed inside the carriage, quietly watching everything.

Just then, Fu Fei suddenly pointed ahead.

"I think there is a small river over there," she said. "Why don’t we go and fill our water bottles?"

Fu Li looked in that direction too.

But before anyone could stand up, I quickly stopped them.

"Wait."

They all turned to .

"We don’t know what kind of water that is," I said. "It may not be good for drinking."

Fu Fei raised her brows slightly.

"What do you an?"

I opened my mouth and said the first thing that ca to mind.

"It might have... microorganisms."

The mont the word left my mouth, I realized my mistake.

Fu Fei blinked.

Fu Li also looked confused.

The two sisters exchanged a look.

Clearly, they had never heard that word before.

Right...

This was not the modern world.

I laughed awkwardly and waved my hand.

"I an the water might be dirty," I quickly explained. "There could be tiny things in it that make people sick."

Fu Fei nodded slowly.

"Oh... I see."

Fu Li crossed her arms.

"So the water may not be clean enough."

"Exactly," I said.

Fu Teng groaned again from the ground.

"Then what are we supposed to drink?"

I smiled slightly.

"Don’t worry. We still have water."

Of course...

Even if we didn’t—

My space was full of supplies.

They just didn’t know it yet.

Just then sothing felt strange.

The wind stopped and so did noise.

Even the people around

stopped moving.

Fu Teng was still lying on the ground. Fu Tong was still laughing. Fu Fei was still looking toward the river.

But none of them moved.

It was as if the whole world had suddenly frozen.

I frowned and slowly stood up.

"...What?"

Before I could think further, a familiar blue light appeared in front of .

Ding.

A screen popped up.

[ Greetings, Host. ]

I stared at it for a second... then rolled my eyes.

"Oh great," I muttered.

I crossed my arms and looked at the floating screen.

"What other stupid mission do you have for

now?"

Then I smirked and spoke sarcastically.

"Oh wait, let

guess."

"Save him, right?"

I rolled my eyes again.

The small glowing screen flickered slightly.

[ It seems Host was not very pleased with the last mission. ]

Kiwi’s cheerful voice sounded again.

[ But the rewards were quite nice. ]

I paused.

Well...

It had a point.

The rewards were actually good.

Still, I narrowed my eyes at the screen.

"Why exactly are you here?" I asked. "I was talking to my family before you interrupted."

The screen flashed again.

[ Well, Host, I just ca to remind you that for several days now you have not done your Daily Check-In. ]

Another window appeared under it.

[ You currently have 4 Daily Check-Ins waiting to be claid. ]

I blinked.

"...Four?"

The screen happily confird.

[ Yes, Host. Four days of rewards are waiting to be unlocked. ]

My eyes imdiately lit up.

"Wait... hold on."

I straightened a little.

"What kind of rewards?"

The screen flickered again.

[ Please check in to receive them. ]

A small glowing button appeared.

[ Daily Check-In – Day 1 ]

I stared at it.

Then I rubbed my chin slowly.

"Well..."

Free rewards were free rewards.

And I definitely wasn’t the type to refuse free things.

"Fine," I said.

I lifted my hand and pressed the glowing button.

"Let’s see what you’ve got."
