Chapter 120: Chapter
Fu Teng froze the mont those words reached him, and the heat that rose to his ears was sothing he could not control, no matter how hard he tried to remain composed.
For a brief mont, he stood still, his hand lingering in place as if he had forgotten what he was doing.
Then he stepped back.
The movent was quick, and the space between them widened imdiately.
"That is enough," he said, his voice steady, though there was a slight tension beneath it.
"You can take care of the rest yourself."
An Yu did not stop him.
He simply watched.
Fu Teng turned away without hesitation and walked toward the door, clearly intending to leave, but just as his hand reached it—
"Teng."
His steps slowed.
He did not turn, but he did not continue walking either.
"I have sothing for you to do today," An Yu said, his tone calm now.
Fu Teng stood still before replying,
"What is it?"
"We need a new cook," An Yu said. "The one we had left without notice."
Fu Teng’s brows drew together slightly.
"A cook?" he asked.
"Yes," An Yu replied. "The pavilion will open soon, and we cannot run it without one."
There was a brief pause before he added,
"Find soone suitable."
Fu Teng did not respond imdiately.
He stood there for a mont, his hand still resting on the door.
He did not agree nor did he argue.
After a short pause, he pushed the door open and stepped out without another word.
The door closed behind him.
Inside, the room grew quiet again.
An Yu remained where he was, his gaze resting on the closed door.
Then a faint smile appeared on his lips.
"There you go again," he said quietly.
He stepped into the bath, the water shifting as he settled in.
Leaning back slightly, he exhaled.
The smile remained.
"You really like to keep your distance," he said.
His voice was calm, but there was sothing beneath it.
"...Let us see how long you can keep it that way."
.....
By the ti we arrived at the farm, the morning had already settled, and the land no longer felt as quiet as it had the day before.
The broken tools had been replaced. Fu Sheng had gone earlier to get what was needed, and now the new tools were arranged neatly beside the small hut.
The Zhao brothers had already begun working.
The five of them moved across the field with steady coordination, clearing weeds, removing stones, and turning the soil where they could. The land was wide, far wider than most people would take on, especially at a ti like this.
From a distance, it looked promising.
But up close, the dryness of the soil could not be ignored.
I stood beside Fu Sheng and Han Fuji, watching them work.
Han Fuji folded his arms as his gaze swept across the land.
"This is not the right ti to start farming," he said calmly. "With the famine approaching, even if you plant, there is no certainty it will grow."
Fu Sheng nodded slightly.
"He is right," he said. "Water will beco scarce, and the soil will only get worse."
I listened to both of them without interrupting.
Then I smiled.
"You are both right," I said. "But that does not an we should stop."
They both turned to look at .
I did not explain further.
Instead, I reached into my sleeve and brought out a pouch, then a folded piece of paper.
I stepped closer.
Without hesitation, I handed the pouch to Han Fuji.
"Take this," I said.
He looked down at it briefly.
Then I turned and handed the folded note to Fu Sheng.
"And this."
Fu Sheng opened it at once, his eyes scanning through it.
"...Seeds," he said.
His tone carried slight surprise.
Han Fuji leaned closer to glance at it.
"That is a long list," he said.
"Yes," I replied calmly.
Fu Sheng lifted his gaze to .
"You want all of this?" he asked.
"Yes."
There was no hesitation.
Han Fuji exhaled softly.
"This will not be easy to gather in one place," he said.
"That is why you will not waste ti," I replied.
Fu Sheng folded the paper carefully.
"We will go now," he said.
Han Fuji weighed the pouch in his hand and gave a faint smile.
"You are very at ease handing this over," he said. "Not even a warning?"
I looked at him.
Then I said simply,
"He is my husband."
There was no need to say more.
Fu Sheng glanced at
briefly, then looked away, but the corner of his lips moved slightly.
Han Fuji let out a quiet laugh.
"...That answers it," he said.
I shifted my gaze back to the field.
"Bring everything listed," I added. "Do not miss anything."
Fu Sheng nodded.
"We will."
Han Fuji adjusted his grip on the pouch.
"If sothing is hard to find?" he asked.
"Then go to another market," I replied. "Do not return halfway."
He smiled slightly.
"...Understood."
With that, the two of them turned and began walking toward the wagon.
The sound of their steps faded as they moved away.
I remained where I stood.
Behind , the Zhao brothers continued working, their movents steady, their focus clear.
The sound of the wagon wheels faded gradually as Fu Sheng and Han Fuji left, leaving the field quieter than before while the Zhao brothers continued working without pause, their movents steady as they cleared the land bit by bit.
After a short while, the sound of approaching footsteps drew my attention, and when I turned slightly, I saw the Zhao sisters walking toward us with a basket held carefully between them, their steps light but purposeful as they made their way across the uneven ground.
"We brought food," Zhao Yue said softly as they reached their brothers, and at her words, the Zhao brothers stopped imdiately, the tension in their movents easing as they gathered around the basket while their sisters began to open it and hand out the food they had brought.
I watched them quietly, and before I realized it, a small smile had already ford on my lips, because even in their situation, they still thought of each other first without hesitation or complaint.
I was about to walk toward them when a faint glow suddenly appeared in front of , forming slowly in the air before settling into a clear floating screen that I knew all too well.
I stopped where I was and let out a quiet breath.
"...What is it this ti," I muttered under my breath.
The screen flickered lightly, and then—
[ Kiwi: Hehe~ Host, I have a new mission for you! ]
