"If your dad gives you a hard ti, just ntion my na. He won't dare to do anything to you." Yan Ting looked at Lin Banxia's face, worn out after two sleepless nights, and to his own surprise, felt a pang of pity.

"Thanks! I'll be going now!" Lin Banxia's emotions were a chaotic swirl.

She really must be lucky, right? Otherwise, soone like Yan Ting, a powerful figure from an influential family, wouldn't spare her a second thought.

Lin Banxia had just reached her front door when she saw a small group of people seated in the living room.

It was already past midnight, yet none of them had gone to bed. Clearly, they'd stayed up just to wait for her.

Lin Shiyi had returned earlier and had eagerly exaggerated the story of Lin Banxia refusing the marriage proposal on the yacht.

She had even gone into excruciating detail about how Lin Banxia was allegedly having an affair with another man.

Her stepmother, Cheng Rouyin, held a handful of sunflower seeds, idly cracking them as she enjoyed the spectacle.

Lin Shiyi, too, was triumphant, watching Lin Banxia's stiff movents with undisguised delight.

"You still have the face to co back here! Look at the ss you've made—trying to ruin the Lin Family, are you?" Lin Kunhuai glared at her with rage boiling over. He stord toward her and slapped her across the face. "Are you purposefully trying to humiliate ? Do you have any idea how much effort I put in to get you tied to Huo Qinglin? And now? You dare to embarrass Huo Yanting like that, in front of so many people? Just wait and see. The Lin Family will crumble at the hands of an ungrateful daughter like you."

Lin Shiyi let out an unrestrained laugh, savoring the chaos, while Cheng Rouyin slowed down her sunflower-seed cracking and fixed her gaze on Lin Banxia, brimming with resentnt. "Darling, the Lin Family really might be dood now. That little jinx—she cursed her grandparents and mother to their graves, and now she's here to ruin us. I told you long ago we shouldn't have taken her back into this house, but you wouldn't listen. See what trouble she's caused now."

Previously, Lin Kunhuai held onto the idea that Lin Banxia was still his daughter and couldn't bring himself to banish her entirely.

Now, Cheng Rouyin's incitents had convinced him further that Lin Banxia truly was a plague on the family.

"Call Huo Yanting this instant and apologize. Tell him you won't break up with him!" Lin Kunhuai was only being this harsh because he feared Lin Family Company's downfall.

Lin Banxia's face was swollen from the slap, a bleeding scrape marking her lip, yet no one in the Lin family offered even a fleeting mont of concern.

To them, she was nothing but an ungrateful fool who squandered the golden opportunities laid before her.

She had abandoned an extraordinary man and suggested a breakup—a decision they dismissed as sheer idiocy.

"I won't make that call. My breakup with Huo Qinglin is real. Dad, I ask you to stay out of my personal relationships." Lin Banxia's voice was steady, showing no trace of submission despite her father's palpable fury.

"What did you say? The breakup is real? Did you even think for a second about the consequences your actions will bring upon the Lin Family? Are you trying to drive to death?" Lin Kunhuai was consud by rage, his hand raising once again to strike her.

This ti, Lin Banxia didn't play the fool—she ducked away, letting his hand hit nothing but air, which infuriated him even more.

"I knew it—you really are a cursed star. I should have just left you to starve on the streets back then." Lin Kunhuai, driven to the brink of his anger, blurted out words that left everyone frozen in shock.

Lin Banxia stood there stunned, Lin Shiyi's face registering disbelief, while Cheng Rouyin's expression remained eerily unchanged.

"Dad, how could you say sothing like that?" Lin Banxia finally managed to find her voice after what felt like an eternity.
