Cheng Roning asked curiously, "Who are they? Did they say anything?"
The servant quickly replied, "They only said they were the second miss’s forr family mbers."
Cheng Roning looked at Lin Banxia, and Lin Banxia quickly stood up. "Why are they here?"
When Cheng Roning heard they were Lin Banxia’s forr family mbers, she naturally cared. However, she had heard Lin Banxia ntion past events before and knew that this family didn’t share much affection for their daughter. The two elderly relatives who had truly cared for Lin Banxia had already passed away, and even her previous foster mother was no longer in this world.
"Banxia, I’ll go out and see what’s going on. You all stay here and keep eating!" Cheng Roning walked out briskly.
Sure enough, there were three people standing outside the door!
Lin Kunhuai saw Cheng Roning and imdiately took on a quarreling stance. "So, you’re Cheng Roning, huh? Lin Banxia’s biological mother? When did you recognize her as your daughter? Why didn’t you even bother to inform ? I’m her foster father, after all. How could you heartlessly just take away the woman I raised as my own? Did you even think about how I’d feel? You’re a well-known businesswoman now, right? Don’t tell you deliberately avoided , afraid I’d ask you for child support!"
Cheng Roning frowned and looked at this man who started questioning her character from the mont he opened his mouth. She replied calmly, "I had originally planned to visit you, but I’ve been tied up with many things recently and couldn’t find the ti. However, I have sothing important today as well, so I’m afraid I can’t entertain the three of you right now. How about another day, and I will definitely..."
"Oh, I know you have sothing important today. The Huo Family ca here to propose marriage, didn’t they? So, what’s the aning of not letting us in? Are you saying that, as her foster father, I don’t even have the right to be involved in her wedding matters?" Lin Kunhuai imdiately twisted Cheng Roning’s words to fit his assumptions, becoming even more irate.
Lin Banxia’s voice suddenly cut through. "You’re right; you have no right to be involved in my wedding. Didn’t we already sever our father-daughter relationship?"
"Banxia!" Lin Kunhuai imdiately put on the look of a loving father, grinning shalessly. "Banxia, are you still angry at Dad? Dad knows he’s wrong. Don’t hold it against , okay? How could I possibly sever our father-daughter relationship? I’ve never said that!"
"You didn’t say it, but when *she* ca to find , *they* said it." Lin Banxia pointed at Cheng Rouyin and her mother, sneering coldly.
Lin Kunhuai imdiately turned and, with a swift motion, slapped Cheng Rouyin across the face. "You wretched woman, who told you to say such reckless things? How dare you say such heartless and ruthless words to Banxia?"
Cheng Rouyin was completely stunned by the sudden slap, her expression blank. After a long while, she finally discerned from her husband’s eyes that he was putting on an act. She instantly started sobbing and hurriedly said, trembling in fear, "Husband, I’m sorry. It’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have spoken carelessly."
Cheng Rouyin then turned to Lin Banxia, still crying. "Banxia, I know, as your stepmother, I’ve always mistreated you, and you have every right to hate . But you can’t hate your father. He really has always cared about you and worried for you."
Lin Banxia watched this family putting on their performance and felt utterly disgusted, like she was going to throw up. Did they think she was still an idiot?
"Do you really not know what they told ? Fine. The billion you took from Huo Yanting, I assu you haven’t spent it all yet, right? Now, return that billion to Huo Yanting, and I’ll pretend none of this ever happened." Lin Banxia arched an eyebrow maliciously, sneering coldly.
Lin Kunhuai’s family’s expressions froze imdiately.
