A black sedan wound its way along the mountain road, heading toward the bustling city.
The wind swept in, tousling the long hair of the girl in the passenger seat. She was wearing a snow-white coat, her hair dancing lightly on her shoulders.
"Looks like it’s going to rain, huh?" Tong Keke murmured softly as she gazed at the ever-darkening skies and the increasingly fierce wind outside.
"Hmm, maybe." Gu Qianxi kept his full attention on the road ahead, responding to her with a quiet gentleness.
"Uncle, if that woman cos to find you, don’t agree to anything she says. Promise !" Tong Keke’s pure heart was now filled with worries as she kept thinking about the possibility of being taken away by that woman.
Gu Qianxi glanced sideways at her. Seeing her sorrowful expression, his heart ached deeply.
"Alright, I won’t agree to anything she says," Gu Qianxi promised softly.
In truth, the unease in his heart far surpassed Tong Keke’s. If that woman really was Tong Keke’s mother, he would suddenly beco an outsider.
His position would grow increasingly awkward. Yet now, he couldn’t let go of this little thing. Without her, his life would return to being a stagnant, lifeless pool.
"Uncle, where are you going to take for dinner tonight?" Tong Keke’s sadness vanished the mont he agreed to her, replaced by a radiant smile.
"Ho. I’ll cook for you," Gu Qianxi replied decisively.
"Really? But Uncle, you haven’t cooked in a long ti." Tong Keke had checked the kitchen utensils when she was ho, and they seed like they hadn’t been used in ages.
In the past, when she was in middle school, apart from eating lunch at school, her breakfasts and dinners had all been prepared by her uncle.
Back then, he had even taken lessons from top chefs to learn cooking techniques, crafting a variety of delicious als for her. Her uncle particularly loved making soup for her, often saying that girls should drink more soup because won are "made of water."
Thinking back to those beautiful mories, Tong Keke couldn’t help but smile.
She wished she could live that kind of warm and happy life with her uncle forever.
"Don’t worry. Even if I haven’t cooked in a long ti, I can still guarantee that whatever I make will be edible," Gu Qianxi chuckled softly, brimming with confidence.
Tong Keke nodded eagerly, trusting him completely. "Of course I believe in your cooking skills, Uncle! So, tonight, how about we have a candlelit dinner? And pair it with so red wine... That would be so romantic."
"You’re not even of age yet. No drinking," Gu Qianxi frowned slightly, surprised at the imagination of this little thing.
"Uncle, don’t be so uptight. Just one glass, I promise!" Tong Keke pleaded playfully, her beautiful, pitiful eyes gazing at his sculpted, handso face. She almost wanted to kiss him.
Gu Qianxi genuinely couldn’t deal with her at all and had no choice but to relent to her small request. "Half a glass. No more than that."
"Fine!" Tong Keke could only grudgingly compromise.
Half an hour later, Gu Qianxi’s car pulled into his villa.
Tong Keke lifted her gaze to the familiar house, feeling an indescribable wave of emotion.
"Uncle, carry inside!" Tong Keke started acting spoiled again, unwilling to leave her uncle even for a second.
Gu Qianxi turned to look at her, knowing full well she was doing it on purpose. Yet... he simply couldn’t say no.
