Just now, she pleaded with him with so many words, but it was all useless. Yet, the mont she simply ntioned her secret crush was Leng Weichen, he agreed imdiately.

As expected, in a man’s heart, there is no room for even a grain of sand. Perhaps, in Huo Yanting’s view, her soul was already tainted.

The outco was ideal, but she couldn’t bring herself to feel happy.

Why?

Why didn’t she feel any joy?

The pear garden was safe, Huo Yanting had agreed to divorce her, yet her heart suddenly felt like sothing was missing.

What was it?

Lin Banxia didn’t dare to probe any deeper; she was afraid of her own uncontrollable heart.

As night fell, rain began to pour. The city, shrouded in mist, exuded a trace of coldness.

Lin Banxia wandered outside for more than two hours before returning to Huo Yanting’s villa.

At the entrance, she held an umbrella but suddenly lacked the courage to step inside.

Since she had already decided to divorce Huo Yanting and he had agreed, this place would no longer be her ho.

If her father found out that she divorced Huo Yanting, it was likely that the Lin Family’s doors would also be forever closed to her.

Her father would surely hate her, and he would undoubtedly be deeply disappointed in her.

Lin Banxia lingered at the door; dressed in a thin suit, her small face had turned sowhat pale from the cold.

Suddenly, several sleek black sedans pierced through the dense rain and stopped behind her.

The glaring headlights shone toward her; Lin Banxia’s heart abruptly tightened. She quickly stepped aside, not daring to block his path.

The villa gates slowly opened, and the cars drove in one after another.

Lin Banxia’s gaze fell on the rear seat of the third car. The tightly closed dark window revealed nothing of the light or shadows inside.

Her heart contracted sharply and began to ache again.

Just as Lin Banxia hesitated about whether to go inside, the housekeeper Aunt Wang walked over with an umbrella and said to her, "Miss Lin, Young Master Huo asked you to co in."

With his permission, Lin Banxia finally exhaled in relief and followed Aunt Wang into the living room.

"Master wants you to go upstairs to et him," Aunt Wang added.

Lin Banxia nodded gratefully to her, her heavy steps making their way to the second floor.

The bedroom was unlit, but Lin Banxia knew he was inside because she could faintly sll cigarette smoke.

Lin Banxia stood at the entrance of the bedroom, seeing the tall silhouette of the man seated on the sofa. Despite the dim light, his inherent aura of dominance was unmistakable.

"When are we going to finalize the divorce?" Lin Banxia gathered her courage and asked.

The man suddenly extinguished his cigarette in the ashtray with force, his tall figure rising.

He approached her step by step, his shadow becoming more distinct under the light. The oppressive presence he carried grew increasingly intense.

Lin Banxia wanted to continue speaking, but upon seeing the stormy darkness in his eyes, she suddenly forgot what she intended to say.

All that remained was tension and unease.

"Is marrying such an injustice to you?" The man stared at her impassively and questioned.

Lin Banxia shuddered and bit her lower lip, not daring to reply.

In truth, if she were to be honest, marrying him didn’t feel like an injustice to Lin Banxia at all—because he truly treated her well.

"From now on, if anyone from the Huo Family bullies you, don’t expect to stand up for you again..."

"Leng Weichen has a proper girlfriend—their families are well-matched, and they’ve been childhood sweethearts. Even if you secretly love him, there won’t be any outco..."

"The Huo Family and the Lin Family recently signed two contracts. If you get divorced, I’ll imdiately cancel those contracts..."

"You’d better calculate carefully how much you’ll lose if we divorce."

His voice was calm without anger, yet every word felt like a blade stabbing into Lin Banxia’s heart.
