"Do you really know in your heart that you’ve ever truly loved ? Or did you only love that land deed in my hands? Stop pretending—we both know the truth." Lin Banxia was utterly fed up with this man. Why didn’t he just ascend to the heavens?

"That was then. I’ve already reflected on my actions. I admit, initially, I approached you with the intention of getting the pear garden’s deed. But after spending ti with you, I realized you’re different from other girls: pure, kind, gentle. You are a rare good woman. It was my failure to cherish you—I almost made the biggest mistake. Banxia, give another chance..."

Lin Banxia kept a cold expression on her face, covered her ears, and refused to listen. Not listening, not listening—like ignoring a fool reciting nonsense.

Huo Qinglin saw how utterly unmoved she was and had no choice but to give up his confession. He stood up, adopting a gentlemanly posture. "Banxia, take good care of yourself. Once you’ve recovered, we can find ti to talk."

"There’s nothing to talk about between us. Just leave already." Lin Banxia’s eyes wandered to find a broom. She truly wanted to sweep him out the door.

Huo Qinglin stared at her face in a daze for a few seconds before turning away, reluctantly, with disappointnt.

Maybe it’s human nature—the flawed instinct we all share:

To feel that what we cannot obtain, is always the best.

A stretch limousine, escorted by four black cars, passed through the bustling city streets en route to the hospital.

Shortly after Huo Qinglin left, the tall and imposing figure of Huo Yanting appeared in the corridor.

He carried an overwhelming aura, leading a group of bodyguards that made everyone in the hallway too intimidated to breathe.

Few had seen Huo Yanting in person, and they secretly marveled at this devilishly handso man of unparalleled beauty—just who was he?

Huo Yanting had co straight from dealing with business at the company. Despite his striking appearance, there wasn’t a hint of fatigue on his face. His deep and piercing gaze locked intensely ahead.

Arriving at the door, he pushed it open without hesitation. Outside, the bodyguards stood at attention, forming two orderly rows.

The mont he stepped inside, he saw a glaring bouquet of red roses on the sofa, along with a fruit basket.

Lin Banxia, still cursing Huo Qinglin’s hypocrisy in her heart, suddenly froze when she saw the regal man stride in. Her breath hitched in shock.

"It seems soone still hasn’t given up on Mrs. Huo!" The man’s thin lips curled with a trace of ridicule. His calm tone sounded like a joke, yet it was clearly far from humorous.

Lin Banxia’s heart skipped a beat. No way—Huo Yanting’s timing couldn’t be worse.

She had just been thinking about how to get rid of that bouquet and fruit basket.

"Hus... Husband, you’ve misunderstood. I never wanted to accept these flowers or fruits. They were forcibly given to !" Lin Banxia instantly put on a worried look and nervously explained.

"Tell , which dead man walking..." The man strode forward, his long legs closing the distance, his large hand easily lifting her lowered head.

His sharp, eagle-like eyes turned inscrutable as they bore straight into Lin Banxia’s panicked, dark eyes.

Lin Banxia felt like she was being pinned beneath two slabs of ice; even breathing beca difficult.

"It’s Huo Qinglin!" She confessed outright, half-hoping Huo Yanting would finally deal with that nuisance.

"Your ex-boyfriend?" Huo Yanting’s eyes darkened, his tone dripping with mockery.

"No, I’ve got nothing to do with him anymore. You know that!" Lin Banxia quickly clarified.

Huo Yanting turned and walked to the door, calling in one of his bodyguards. "Take these things and throw them out."

The bodyguard didn’t say a word, picked up the items, and left to dispose of them.
