She rubbed her eyes, glanced at the ti—just past seven—it was ti to get up for work.

Lin Banxia groggily climbed out of bed, headed for the bathroom to freshen up, and erged to see the man just coming out of the wardrobe room.

A charcoal-gray suit hugged his long, muscular legs without a single wrinkle, pressed to perfection—it mirrored the aura he exuded: strict, ticulous, and leaving no room for anyone to act recklessly in his presence.

Lin Banxia quickly withdrew her wandering gaze and lowered her head in embarrassnt.

She still wasn’t used to the feeling of waking up with a man beside her.

Especially when this man was now, in na, her husband.

But she knew almost nothing about him—not his personality, nor his habits.

The only thing she was painfully familiar with was his overwhelming intensity in certain aspects.

Lin Banxia’s cheeks flushed scarlet as she scolded herself for letting her mind drift to such thoughts.

The man approached her with steady steps, paused in front of her, and spoke in his deep voice: "It’s my birthday today."

"Ah..." Lin Banxia’s beautiful eyes widened in surprise, her pupils reflecting the resolute perfection of the man’s side profile.

"You know what you need to do next, don’t you?" He leaned in slightly toward her, mysterious and graceful, his thin lips nearly brushing her ear as he spoke. The heat of his breath, paired with his words, made Lin Banxia’s heart race and her breathing uneven.

Seeing her frozen in fright like a fool, the man chuckled lightly in good humor, his tall fra disappearing beyond the bedroom door.

Lin Banxia furrowed her brows tightly. What was she supposed to do next?

To be honest, she truly had no idea.

She hadn’t expected today to be his birthday. Lin Banxia exhaled a resigned sigh—this man obviously wanted a birthday gift from her.

Was it necessary to drop such blatant hints?

Lin Banxia felt Huo Yanting could be quite mischievous sotis, intentionally stirring her nerves.

Even if she wanted to buy him a gift, what could she possibly afford that would be of value? Besides, who could possibly outspend the Huo Family?

Lin Banxia opened the wardrobe, revealing rows of neatly arranged seasonal won’s outfits, all from internationally renowned brands. So were items she had selected yesterday, while others she couldn’t even recall when they had been delivered.

Lin Banxia stared blankly at the imposing wardrobe that occupied an entire wall, filled exclusively with her belongings.

Her heart inexplicably thudded a few beats faster.

Lin Banxia couldn’t help but marvel at how extravagant the lives of the wealthy truly were.

She randomly chose an autumn outfit, quickly dressed, and then turned to notice a vanity table nestled against one side of the room. She hadn’t noticed it before.

Lin Banxia walked toward it with a puzzled expression. Last night, as soon as she got ho, this man had made her stay with him the whole evening, leaving little chance for her to notice any changes to the room.

Driven by curiosity, Lin Banxia reached out and opened a few drawers of the vanity. Sure enough, inside were so of the season’s most well-known makeup brands. In two other drawers lay carefully arranged, exquisite sets of jewelry.

Lin Banxia felt a sense of unease as she looked at these items, which she didn’t know when they had been placed here. Sowhere deep inside, her heart softened.

It resembled the feeling of a neglected child being tenderly comforted for the first ti—a cold, wounded heart gently soothed.

After taking a quick look, Lin Banxia closed the drawers without disturbing their arrangent.

Huo Yanting had been exceedingly generous to her, but she didn’t dare to fully enjoy it.

She would never forget what kind of marriage this was—a marriage not built on love, and one destined to collapse sooner or later.
