Returning to his quarters, the weary Jiang Shouzhong promptly fell into a deep sleep.

The soft moonlight seeped through the window, casting a silvery glow over the man’s handso, fatigued face, reminiscent of snow light in winter.

The occasional furrowing of his brows was faintly discernible.

"Hong’er..."

The man’s lips moved silently, murmuring without sound.

In his dreams, Jiang Shouzhong found his thoughts drifting to his forr wife.

——

"Knock Knock Knock..."

The girl’s slender fingers, reminiscent of spring onions, tapped on the door before she looked at the stunning man engrossed in reading with a beaming smile and asked in a crisp voice, "Excuse , sir, is Jiang here?"

Jiang Shouzhong glanced up and scoffed, "He’s not."

"Not here?"

The girl in the red dress sighed, her fair cheeks tinged with disappointnt. Yet she teasingly inquired, "Then, does the gentleman know where Jiang might have gone?"

"I don’t know... what do you want with him?"

Jiang Shouzhong kept a stern face.

The haughty expression on his face was just short of displaying the words "I don’t want to talk to you."

The pure and naive girl said plaintively:

"Hong’er accidentally made Jiang angry, and he hasn’t paid any attention to Hong’er for a whole day, ignoring my presence at als and not responding to my words..."

As she spoke, her eyes reddened slightly, her long eyelashes curling up in a pitiable arc as she bit her lip, fighting back the tears as if they would fall at any second.

But that hint of slyness and liveliness hidden in her eyes might spill over at any mont.

Jiang Shouzhong remained silent, his face still impassive.

Seeing no reaction from him, the girl puffed her cheeks and with a deft turn of her expressive eyes, she faked a mournful tone and said, "In a few days, it will be the day when Hong’er and Jiang get married. If I can’t find Jiang, Hong’er... Hong’er will have no choice but to marry soone else..."

"You dare!?"

Jiang Shouzhong’s brows shot up.

Seeing the girl’s mischievous triumph as she looked at him, he huffed, "Marry whoever you want then, it’s none of my business."

"Would Jiang really not mind?"

The girl giggled, her radiant face teasing him.

As she was about to step over the threshold, she suddenly heard his caution, "This is Ye’s dicinal room; you’ll definitely get scolded for walking in with shoes."

The girl frowned her delicate nose and thus removed her shoes and socks, stepping onto the plush carpet.

"What is Jiang looking at?"

She approached the man with her hands clasped behind her back.

A few strands of her hair fell on his cheek, spreading a subtle rose fragrance.

"A dical book?"

Her eyes widened in astonishnt, and with a suppressed laugh, she teased, "Is Jiang going to be a physician?"

Then, quickly rolling up her sleeve, she revealed her soft, fair arm and placed it in front of Jiang Shouzhong.

"Perfect timing to ask the Divine Doctor for a consultation. Hong’er hasn’t been sleeping well lately. Is it because soone has been too lazy to tell stories? Is it that soone has been making unhappy? Or... maybe Hong’er can’t sleep because she’s scared at the thought of becoming a certain big bad wolf’s wife?"

Feeling the refreshing fragrance that lingered around his nose, Jiang Shouzhong felt a heat welling up in his chest.

He instinctively reached out to pull her into his arms, but she predicted his move. Her willowy waist twisted, and with a light grace, she avoided him, her skirt fluttering softly as she landed.

"The big bad wolf is showing his true colors, huh?"

The girl revealed a playful expression, sticking out her tongue at him.

Jiang Shouzhong helplessly shook his head, mumbling, "Stop fooling around, I’m trying to see if there’s a way to restore your mory."

The girl looked surprised, "Restore my mory?"

Jiang Shouzhong explained, "I know you’ve been hiding your worries, hoping to have your own family and friends present at our wedding, to avoid any regrets. I’ve even considered waiting for your mory to return before getting married, but Ye said..."

He sighed and fell silent.

Looking at her lover’s weary and remorseful expression, the girl was montarily stunned, then smiled sweetly, "It doesn’t matter, perhaps regaining my mory isn’t a good thing after all."

She moved a stool beside Jiang Shouzhong and sat down, naturally placing her small, delicate, jade-like feet in his lap for warmth, and said softly, "As long as I can be Jiang’s wife, there’s nothing in this world that I would regret."

Gazing at the love brimming in the girl’s misty eyes, Jiang Shouzhong felt a warmth in his heart, his chest filled with emotion.

He lowered his head and said self-deprecatingly, "Truthfully speaking, I’m afraid of you regaining your mory. I always feel that one day you’ll leave , and the two of us will never..."

"I won’t," the girl gently interrupted him, her crescent-moon eyes smiling, "Hong’er will never leave Jiang."

"You truly won’t leave?"

Jiang Shouzhong always felt uneasy and sought reassurance.

But this ti, the girl remained silent.

The graceful figure of the girl began to blur, and the whole room seed to be shrouded in a dim fog.

"Knock Knock Knock!"

"Knock! Knock! Knock!"

The rapid knocking sound was intensely irritating to Jiang Shouzhong’s disturbed mind.

Jiang Shouzhong struggled to see the beautiful girl before him, but her figure grew increasingly indistinct.

He felt as if his body had plunged into an ice cellar, his blood turning cold.

Bang!

A loud noise.

All the scenes suddenly shattered.

The girl and the house disintegrated into pieces of mirror veiled in mist.

Piece by piece, like blades.

Sharp as daggers, piercing through the man’s body.

...

"Hong’er!"

Jiang Shouzhong sat up from the bed where he had awoken from the nightmare, drenched in cold sweat, disoriented and at a loss.

Around him, all was still pitch-dark, save for the bleak moonlight.

The room was filled with the stench of death.

Jiang Shouzhong gasped for breath, taking a long ti to gradually regain so clarity.

He wiped the sweat from his face, recalling that light and vivid face—which seed to fill his chest with molten lead, stinging his heart with every breath.

"Hong’er, you said you wouldn’t leave ."

Jiang Shouzhong murmured softly to himself.

The man lay back down on his bed, feeling desolate.

Just as he closed his eyes, he suddenly felt sothing was amiss and his eyes snapped open.

Imdiately after, Jiang Shouzhong’s eyes widened.

Floating above the ceiling was a mirror.

There was a woman in the mirror!

The woman seed naked, covered only by strands of extrely long, white hair wrapped around her body, revealing half of her pale, slender legs that were elegant as a crane’s neck and a pair of round-ankled, tucked-toed crystal-clear bare feet.

Chillingly beautiful, yet eerie.

Was she human, a ghost, or a demon?

Jiang Shouzhong stared dumbfounded, a mix of fear, astonishnt, and confusion washing over him, as beads of sweat began to form on his forehead again.

Suddenly, the woman opened her eyes.

Her pitch-black pupils were like pools reflecting the moon’s glow, with a touch of blood-red strangeness.

The silver-white strands of hair that originally wrapped around the woman’s body began to drift slowly, like slender little snakes slithering out of the mirror, flowing onto Jiang Shouzhong’s body like water, tightly binding him.

The woman slowly descended.

The distance between them grew closer and closer.

It wasn’t until there was only about five centiters between their faces that she stopped.

There was still a mirror between them.

Jiang Shouzhong couldn’t move.

He could distinctly feel the strands of hair penetrating his skin pores.

"No wonder, it turns out to be a dead person."

The white-haired woman’s crimson lips curled up slightly, exuding a captivating beauty.

"What a pity, he’s useless!"

The white-haired woman extended an arm, faintly revealing the flow of veins beneath her translucent skin, and pressed it against Jiang Shouzhong’s chest, "I’ll take back what’s mine first, then we’ll talk about a deal!"

Boom—

Jiang Shouzhong only felt a blur before his eyes, as everything around him rapidly flipped.

The next mont, he was horrified to find that he had left his body, floating above the bed, looking down at his own "corpse" that was smiling back at him.

It was as if their souls had swapped.

He had entered the mirror.

The woman was outside the mirror.

And on the bed, his hair turned white at a visible speed, his cheeks grew softer and more lustrous.

He beca a white-haired Jiang Shouzhong.

Soon, his face was also obscured by red mist, even more feminine.

"Eh? There’s a Taoist River Map as well?"

The white-haired woman who had taken over Jiang Shouzhong’s body showed a look of surprise, happily exclaiming, "This must be heaven helping !"

Whoosh!

The white-haired "Jiang Shouzhong" disappeared from the room.

...

The white-haired "Jiang Shouzhong" turned into a streaking shadow of light, hovering eerily in the air for a mont before rushing towards the formidable palace with a murderous aura.

At this ti, the carriage carrying the Crown Prince was slowly passing through the palace gate.

The next mont, the carriage was flipped into the air!

"You dare to compete with for the Haotian divine power!?"

The confused Zhou Wei had not yet realized what had happened when the white-haired "Jiang Shouzhong" dragged him out of the carriage and smashed him hard against the city wall.

anwhile, inside the inn,
