"Yan, what’s wrong?"

Li Qiu saw Leng Yan coming from the hospital room window and quickly ca out to greet him. Seeing his sowhat pale lips as he entered the room, she asked worriedly.

"I’m fine. How’s your dad today?"

Leng Yan gently shook his head, his fingers involuntarily pressing against his stomach. The feeling of stomach pain surged up again. He hadn’t eaten anything since last night and had been intensely focused on the developnt of the Leng Family, pushing his body’s endurance to its limits.

Seeing Leng Siyan asleep, he let out a sigh of relief, but then his vision went black.

Li Qiu was suddenly taken aback, shouting for the doctor while struggling to support Leng Yan’s body. Uncle Wang, the family’s forr doctor, hearing Li Qiu’s cries, hurried over.

In the hospital room, Leng Yan slowly opened his eyes, seeing Uncle Wang sitting beside him while Li Qiu was not around, a hint of pleading flickered in his eyes, "Uncle Wang, my illness... don’t tell my parents yet."

"Not tell them?" Uncle Wang glared at him fiercely, "Second Young Master, have you heard of ’death from overwork’? Do you know what happens if you keep pushing yourself so hard?"

Ling Yan nodded, smiling faintly, "Death from overwork is a new type of illness nowadays."

He knew what Uncle Wang ant. If he continued exhausting himself, his body would eventually collapse. He also knew he hadn’t had a good night’s sleep in a long ti, hadn’t eaten a satisfying al, but even if it wasn’t death from overwork, what difference would it make? Even if he lay in bed every day, how long could his body last?

The words "stomach cancer" in the doctor’s diagnosis had already hinted that he wouldn’t live long.

He couldn’t watch the Leng Family fall apart right before his eyes, especially when the intricacies involved were too bewildering for him to ignore, his mind couldn’t stop thinking for even a second.

"If Second Young Master continues like this, you’ll end up with the sa illness as Master, and it’ll be too late to pay attention to your health then!" Uncle Wang spoke bluntly, his nose emitting a cold hum, "The master is already like this, Madam is sad enough. Do you want to pour salt on her wound?"

"Uncle Wang!"

Leng Yan’s expression changed, and after listening, he beca even more puzzled. The doubts in his heart furrowed his brows, "What do you an I’ll end up with Dad’s illness? Uncle Wang, I already have the sa illness as Dad."

Uncle Wang was a doctor; his illness couldn’t be hidden from him. But from what Uncle Wang was saying, if he didn’t take care of himself, he would end up like Leng Siyan.

"The sa illness?"

Uncle Wang looked at Leng Yan as if he were a strange person, "Nonsense! Mr. Leng has stomach cancer, while Young Master only has a stomach ulcer; there’s a big difference!"

"Stomach ulcer?" Leng Yan’s mind buzzed, tightly gripping Uncle Wang’s hand, his body tense, "I really just have a stomach ulcer?"

"Of course." Uncle Wang found it extrely odd, "Young Master, why would you say such a thing?"

Stomach ulcer, it turned out to be a stomach ulcer.

Leng Yan was montarily stunned, an indescribable pile of emotions building up in his heart.

Deep frustration and inexplicable confusion, even bewildernt. But more than anything, undeniably, it was joy, excitent, disbelief.

When he and Leng Siyan got their health check-ups together, he retrieved the results when Dr. Ma wasn’t there, and the nurse handed them to him with a sigh.

Seeing Leng Siyan’s results, the nurse refused to let him see his own, asking for soone from his family to co. His heart was in chaos, with a bad premonition growing inside him. He lied to the nurse, saying that his family had all emigrated abroad and couldn’t co, and he needed to leave as soon as he got his test results. It was only then that the nurse reluctantly gave them to him.

Stomach cancer!

The test results showed that he had stomach cancer.

Leng Yan clearly rembered the feeling at that mont, like driving on a flat road and suddenly finding himself at the edge of a cliff. He wanted to reverse the car, leave, and find safety, but everything changed. The road behind him suddenly disappeared for so reason, and all around him were cliffs.

And he could only stay in that limited area, tortured by fear, waiting for the rciless hand of fate, always at risk of death.

He had never been so afraid of dying, didn’t dare to answer Wen Nuan’s calls, didn’t dare to say a word to her. His mind was filled with the words "stomach cancer," which felt like pincers gripping his throat.

He rembered what she said, that the most romantic thing was to grow old with him. He recalled his promise to hold her hand even when they were old...

All of this, in an instant, seed to turn into foam. Beautiful, yet fleeting and illusory.

He wasn’t willing; he told himself he needed a second examination. He believed he was healthy, that Dr. Ma must have misdiagnosed.

Upon hearing Dr. Wang had returned, he imdiately went to the hospital where Dr. Wang was stationed for another round of testing. He hoped the second examination would tell him that the previous ordeal was just a nightmare, that he was healthy, capable of being with her, and giving her happiness.

The day Ji Wei’s child’s DNA test results ca out was also when his reexamination results were available. The DNA results showed the child was unrelated to him, which sent him over the moon. But before long, a wave of despair overtook him, quenching his joy and extinguishing the last glimr of hope in his heart.

When Dr. Wang called him with a trembling voice, his heart raced with anxiety.

The trembling voice was unlike Dr. Wang’s usual cheerful disposition. And indeed, Dr. Wang told him: the reexamination results were still stomach cancer...

"Rubbish!" Uncle Wang sniffed coldly, "Stomach ulcers, how could it be stomach cancer, that’s nonsense!"

Leng Yan’s fingers quivered, and the cup in his hand dropped to the floor with a clatter. He couldn’t wait to get out of bed.

"Second Young Master!" Uncle Wang was startled and rushed to grab his hand, "Where are you going? The doctor said you need to rest."

"Where’s my phone?"

Leng Yan paused, searching his body but couldn’t find his phone, his face growing impatient and red.

Uncle Wang sighed, "The lady took your phone away, worried that calls from the company might disturb your rest. Mr. Leng is handling everything, saying he’ll take care of the company matters."

"I’m fine."

Leng Yan took a deep breath, an inexplicable smile flickering in his eyes.

It was like sunlight breaking through accumulated clouds after many days, filling him with energy, "I’m going to get my phone."

"Yan, why are you up?"

Li Qiu fed Leng Siyan so dicine and was almost knocked over by soone coming out as she walked over to check on Leng Yan. Seeing who it was, she asked nervously.

Leng Yan’s throat choked, a bitter taste welling up in his heart and nostrils, unable to resist embracing Li Qiu, he softly called out, "Mom."

"What’s wrong with you, child..."

Since adulthood, such acts of intimacy from Leng Yan had beco rare; combined with his slightly red eyes, Li Qiu was startled before she managed to ask.

Leng Yan released her, his thin lips curving into a brilliant smile, "I’m fine, I’m really okay."

He was truly okay, really fine now.
