Akun’s mind whirled as he processed Aric’s words. The implications were staggering. He was playing a ga of cosmic chess where the stakes were the very fabric of reality. He had sent these agents back to ensure the survival of key individuals who would be instruntal in the battles to co.
"So," Akun said slowly, his voice filled with a small touch of shock and resolve, "I am not just fighting for my survival. I am preparing for a future where the universe itself must be saved from the chaos I will unleash."
Aric nodded, the flicker of his energy growing fainter. "Exactly, Master. You must ensure the continuity of those who will bear the mantle of the Origin Gods. Only by doing so can you hope to restore order and prevent the total collapse of the universe."
Aric’s form shimred, his energy nearly depleted. "Rember, Master," he said softly, his voice fading, "everything you do now shapes the future. Stay strong, and be ready for what lies ahead."
Akun suddenly released his grip, letting Aric’s body fall to the floor with a loud thud. The impact sent mana discharging around the puppet’s crushed neck, sparking briefly before settling. Aric, despite his now mangled state, managed to look up at Akun with a faint smile.
"Seems you’ve cald down a little," Aric said, his voice strained but tinged with a touch of amusent.
Akun sighed deeply, running a hand through his hair as he sorted his thoughts. "So it makes a bit more sense now," he muttered, almost to himself. "The reason I can’t be told the full scope of the future is likely because I’d focus too much on protecting those precious to instead of getting stronger.
And that would make weaker than I need to be, putting back in the state of not being able to protect anyone."
Aric’s smile widened slightly, his voice weak. "That’s one of your amazing qualities, Master. You catch on fast."
Akun glanced down at the puppet, recognizing that Aric’s energy was nearly depleted. He shifted slightly, his tone more calm. "What are you going to do about the fra? I don’t want people thinking I killed the academy’s genius."
Aric chuckled weakly, his energy flickering. "Don’t worry. This fra will dissolve into nothing once its energy is completely gone."
"Is that so?" Akun mumbled, feeling a mix of relief and a touch of frustration. "Alright, I guess that’s where our conversation ends."
As Akun turned to leave, he heard Aric call out weakly. The puppet’s eyes were dimming, the last signs of life flickering out. "Master," Aric’s voice was barely above a whisper, "watch your party closely. Enjoy your monts with them. Don’t be so closed off. It’s sad to say, but if you don’t you’ll regret it when you lose them."
Akun’s expression hardened, a look of anger and fear crossing his face. "What do you an?" he demanded, but before he could press for more answers, the puppet’s lips curled into a final, weak smile.
"See you later, Master," Aric said softly. And with that, the light in his eyes extinguished, leaving Akun alone with his thoughts and the dissolving remnants of the puppet on the floor.
Seeing the puppet’s dissolved remains on the floor slowly disappear as well , Akun’s thoughts echoed with Aric’s warning. "I will lose them," he muttered to himself, the weight of the words pressing heavily on his mind.
"To Order? To sothing beyond my control? I thought I had conquered death. So I had nothing to fear, but now it seems that’s not the case." Frustration and uncertainty bubbled up within him.
His fists clenched, knuckles white. Akun let out a deep, ragged sigh. "No," he said quietly but fiercely. "I won’t let the future play out like that."
As the last remnants of the puppet disappeared, a sudden interruption broke his concentration. A voice resonated within his thoughts, clear and chanical— the system’s voice.
†[Notice to the player! The system has detected a †Sub-Authority: Absolute-?†.]†
The ssage hung in the air, and then another followed swiftly:
†[The system has discovered that the player’s main †Authority† is reacting with the †Sub-Authority† and is leaving it in an unstable state. The system advises the player against using their †Authority† for a while.]†
Akun’s gaze hardened as he read the system’s window, the blue luminescence of the text casting a faint glow on his face. His mind churned with questions and a touch of fear. "Is this a bad on?"
Closing his eyes briefly, Akun took a deep breath, centering himself. The stakes were higher than ever, and the uncertainty of the future lood large. Yet, the path forward was clear: he had to beco stronger, wiser, and ready to face whatever chaos awaited him. And above all, he had to protect those he held dear, no matter the cost.
…
Back in Almarck, the bustling capital city of Marlia, Aric lay on a simple yet comfortable bed in a dimly lit room. The room was part of an inn that his small group had transford into their makeshift base of operations. The walls were covered with maps and strategic notes, and artifacts and scrolls were scattered about, obvious signs of their activities.
Aric’s eyes flickered open, a faint smile curving his lips as he slowly sat up. His gaze drifted to the ceiling, and he chuckled softly, talking to himself. "I wonder if those actions of mine are part of the endless loop."
Raising his left hand, he observed with mild curiosity as it flickered, becoming semi-transparent and crackling with erratic bursts of mana. It was a sign of his erasure, his actions now were certainly not a part of the loop.
The sight didn’t alarm him; rather, it seed almost expected. "Guess not," he murmured, smiling wryly as he reached into a rift that suddenly appeared beside him. From the void, he pulled out a glove, skilfully crafted and radiating a faint aura. He slipped it on, and the glitching stopped, his hand returning to its solid state.
