In the celestial realm, amidst lush gardens filled with blooming flowers and shimring streams, a group of goddesses gathered around a tea table. The fragrance of exotic blossoms wafted through the air as they discussed the upcoming selection, their voices mingling with the gentle rustle of leaves.

At the head of the table sat Lady Vino Velora, a goddess of wisdom and grace, or so everyone believes, her body radiating a serene aura. Beside her was Lady Celestia, dressed in robes of shimring starlight, exuding an air of regal elegance. Lady Aurora, in her flowing gown of dawn hues, added a touch of warmth to the gathering, her laughter as lodious as the morning songbirds.

As they sipped their tea, Lady Vino Velora addressed the group, her voice carrying the weight of centuries of wisdom. "My dear sisters, as I have heard from so higher gods, the ti draws near for the next selection. It is important that we perform the best we can, for each of us to be promoted."

Lady Celestia nodded in agreent, her gaze fixed on the horizon where distant constellations twinkled in the night sky. "Indeed, Velora. The selection only cos once in a millennia, and if we don't perform well now, who is to say our believers won't dwindle as other gods ascend? We must give it our all if we don't want to be discarded."

The selection process has existed since the dawn of existence. Unlike the origin gods, who serve a fixed purpose, ascended gods are a different matter. They must prove their worth to the heavens, or else they risk being discarded.

What would be the point of possessing such power and simply sitting around for all eternity? Naturally, the selection process serves to weed out weak gods from the strong ones and is an excellent way to recycle Plausibility - the building block of all existing objects.

Naturally, to create is to use plausibility, and to destroy is to harvest it. And what better way to acquire it than from weak, useless gods?

And as such, this is one of the fears a god grapples with that most mortals don't understand - to finally perish after you've reached the pinnacle, to be disrespected when you've tried your best to make mortal lives better. There was no denying that there were corrupt gods, but their job was to harvest plausibility - to destroy, while virtuous gods were expected to create and safeguard.

Both sides were not enemies and both existed to manage the circle of Plausibility, which was essential for new creations, expriences and progress. So destruction was not impulsive and heartless, most tis it was a necessity.

Lady Aurora, her eyes alight with anticipation, leaned forward eagerly. "But what qualities do we need in order to not be discarded? Strength? Wisdom? Compassion?"

Lady Vino Velora smiled gently, then said, "All of these virtues are important, dear Aurora. But I couldn't possibly know how the selection will go; I've never participated in it, so I'm as clueless as you are."

Lady Vino Velora's calm expression suddenly changed as she felt sharp bolt in her heart, causing her to gasp in pain. A sudden fit of coughing erupted, and droplets of blood stained her lips and her white dress. The other goddesses gasped in alarm, their faces etched with concern as they rushed to her side.

"Lady Velora, what's happening?" Lady Celestia exclaid, her voice trembling with worry.

Lady Aurora's hands shook as she reached out to support Lady Velora, her eyes wide with fear. "Are you alright? What's wrong?" Your next chapter is on My Virtual Library Empire

Lady Velora tried to speak, but her words were choked by another wave of coughing. Clutching her chest, she struggled to regain her composure, her usually calm face displayed her clear pain.

Inwardly, Vino Velora mused, "Ugh... This sudden pain in my chest, it's magic backlash, like a very powerful spell I cast was broken, and for so reason, I know the exact one." She grieed her teeth.

Glancing at the other goddesses, she eased their worries with a smile as she said, "You... You both don't have to worry," she managed to choke out between coughs, her voice strained and hoarse. "There is sothing I have to deal with."

The other goddesses exchanged anxious glances, their concern deepening as they witnessed Lady Velora's distress.

Vino Velora made her way into the depths of a colossal white building adorned with golden statues and glyphs. With each step, her pain seed to intensify. Once inside, she called out, "Activate god skill: World View."

(A/N: All divine beings have access to a system panel with crosses like that, but it just gives simple replies to questions they ask related to the god's rank and †Authority† level. Nobody is sealing our protagonist system is what I want to point out.)

In that instant, a yellow system window materialized before her. Sha gazed intensely at it as she gritted her teeth and muttered, "How... How is this possible?" In a fit of rage, she raised her left foot and stomped it on the ground with a massive thud.

Boom!

A crater was instantly created beneath her feet. Clearly brimming with anger, she gazed at Arcadia. The barrier she had borrowed so power from other gods to cast was nowhere to be found.

She then mumbled in frustration as cracks rippled all around the marble floor below her. "Who is responsible for this?"

The system voice then responded, saying, [Apparently it was a hero.]

Vino Velora gritted her teeth as she said, "A hero? That doesn't make any sense. How can a hero be able to destroy the barrier I created? At best, it should only be 2 years now since I summoned them. And why would they break it? Can they even see it?" She gritted her teeth as she ran her hands through her hair repeatedly, roughing it up as she said, "This doesn't make any sense at all.

What is their na?"

The system data then replied, [According to system data, their na should be †Envoy†: Akun.]
