Chapter 613: Absolute Beginning

“It’s no wonder she guided me here without fighting back at all.”

“It turns out that if I want to obtain the inheritance, I still have to meet the requirements set by her creator.”

“Since I’m currently the only conscious participant, this is akin to pleting the trial and meeting the requirements. In a sense, Alice did not disobey her creator’s instructions.”

That meant that whether Alice guided her here or had simply requested that Liora plete the trial, the result would be the same.

At most, this would make Liora a little happier.

“Sure enough, this little girl is really crafty. Unfortunately, she underestimates my abilities…”

At that thought, Liora fixed her gaze on the space Alice had previously pointed to.

For ordinary people, and even powerful beings like Alpha, there appeared to be nothing there. It was as though this space was empty.

However, from Liora’s perspective, there were countless flowing runes intertwining, binding the space together to create what was similar to a Devil formation.

Based on Liora’s experience, she could determine that not only could this array conceal what was inside it, but it would also counterattack once someone tried to force an entry or even attempted to bypass its restrictions.

Its level… was quite high.

At the very least, Liora was certain that ordinary Rank 11 Awakeners would struggle to detect the formation, much less break through its restrictions.

For one to even have a chance to seize the inheritance inside, they would have to be Rank 12 Awakeners.

“But how could such a powerhouse possibly appear here?”, Liora shook her head.

“Even if they arrived, they would likely not care about such an inheritance. After all, Rank 12 Awakeners have already reached the peak of the Cosmic Universe.”

“Even if they were in the Demon World, they would be considered powerhouses of the highest order.”

Just like Archdevils, Ancient Devils were also divided into different substages.

Namely:

Other Shore, Antiquity, Primordial, and Absolute Beginning.

One would reach the Other Shore the very moment they advanced, as, just like the substage’s name suggested, they would reach the “other shore” of the River of Time.

If they wished to advance to the Antiquity stage, they would have to trace back along the timeline, imprinting their traces onto the past.

The same was true for the two following stages. The biggest difference was the control they had over the River of Time.

By the time a Devil reached Absolute Beginning, they would have traced back to the birth of the River of Time, gaining the ability to manipulate history as they wished.

Rank 12 Awakeners did not possess such an ability.

Still, in Liora’s eyes, they should be on the same level as an Antiquity Stage Ancient Devil.

“Of course, this is merely in life level.”

“Ancient Devils are far more powerful than the Awakeners of this world, just based on their ability to manipulate history. Whether in bat prowess or means, Awakeners are far behind.”

This was something Liora had only recently discovered, and even if they possessed some means to pensate for that massive disadvantage, the gap between the two was impossible to bridge.

Perhaps it was because the Cosmic Universe was of a lower level than the Demon World, or perhaps the constant destruction and reconstruction prevented the native power systems from reaching their peak.

Either way, it didn’t matter. Liora soon shook her head.

Her attention shifted back onto reality. Her gaze fell onto the array, and she began to analyze it, seemingly able to see the methods of cultivators through it.

Only several minutes later, just as Alice was starting to wonder what she was trying to achieve by staring at a “blank” space, Liora finally moved.

The creation of the Cultivation Star was evidence that she had already mastered the peculiarities of the Myriad Dao Board.

As long as she demonstrated her expertise, the formation would open on its own, and she would be able to collect whatever was inside.

However, Liora didn’t. She wanted to try something instead.

The next moment, under Alice’s shocked gaze, she raised her head and extended her finger.

Then, a stream of light fired out of her fingertips and descended toward the formation.

“You… What are you doing? Do you want to kill us all?”, Alice immediately tried to stop her, nearly throwing herself in front of the beam.

But the next instant, her words were cut off.

Not because Liora took action to restrain her, but because of the pure shock.

The beam of light did not cause any counterattack from the formation.

Instead, the moment it landed on it, the originally invisible runes slowly showed up.

In the span of a few seconds, the once invisible formation had appeared before the three women.

Before Alice could react, Liora took action once more.

Another ray of light shot out. It neatly landed on the formation, or more precisely, on one of the runes at its edge.

Just like before, the expected counterattack never arrived.

With a small click, the rune shattered into pieces while the formation’s brilliance slightly dimmed.

In the grand scheme of things, this was nothing.

However, when more and more beams fired out, each accurately landing and shattering the runes, the formation found itself unable to maintain its integrity.

Less than a minute later, a deafening crash echoed throughout the space layer.

Under Alice’s stunned eyes, the once invincible formation began to crumble.

Like wood that had been burned to ashes, it shattered from the top, the impact gradually spreading to the rest of its surface.

Within moments, it had vanished pletely.

“This… this… How is this possible?”, Alice subconsciously muttered and rubbed her eyes, seemingly unable to process—or believe—what was going on.

It was only when the object sealed inside, which she had previously called “inheritance”, finally materialized, that Alice could no longer deny what she was seeing.

Liora didn’t give her time to accept it, however.

Just like she had done before, she reached out with her hand and clasped the so-called inheritance.

As soon as her hand came into contact with its surface, the “floating” Alice trembled in response.
