Chapter 73: Leaving [4] - Torment

Liora didn’t pay attention to the swift decision-making of the Owl Devil, nor to the hesitation that Scurry showed.

Standing on top of the Gothic castle, she found herself at the epicenter of the changes happening in the Crucible.

Soon, she didn’t even have the time to pay attention to the Devils burning around her, as a vast, seemingly inexhaustible demonic energy appeared out of nowhere and began flowing toward her.

The source of this demonic energy was clear—it was the essence of the Devils melting throughout the Crucible.

The moment this demonic energy reached her location, a trace of longing rose within her heart, and she had the urge to devour every last bit of it.

Her entire being could sense that it would be beneficial to her, akin to taking a strong tonic.

For the first time in a long time, Liora didn’t suppress her bloodline’s instincts, but rather, she allowed them to guide her.

She knew very well that this energy was the reward of the Demon World, gifted to her for her achievements.

In her opinion, there was no reason for the Demon World to harm her.

Even if ’It’ wanted to, with its strength and status, it wouldn’t need to resort to such meaningless tricks. It could simply crush her to death.

Thus, Liora let herself go.

The moment she did, the demonic energy within her began to boil, stirring as if it were resonating with the energy of the outside world.

Then, as if the outside demonic energy had received a signal and discovered a suitable outlet, it poured into Liora’s body at full force.

Liora’s body trembled. Her bones vibrated and cracks formed along their surface, while her blood circulation became countless times faster.

As the demonic energy coursed through her body, a sharp pain struck Liora’s mind.

At first, this pain was subtle, but as more and more energy poured into her as if she were a bottomless pit, the pain turned unbearable.

A loud gasp almost escaped Liora’s lips, but she held back, gritting her teeth to prevent herself from screaming.

However, this didn’t lessen her torment. Instead, it increased it even further.

Liora watched silently as her body broke down repeatedly, with each of her cells being destroyed before being rearranged.

Although this rearrangement seemed random and chaotic, it actually followed a particular route.

Each time her cells transformed, Liora could feel herself getting stronger, albeit very slightly.

But when the total number of these transformations was taken into account, the overall improvement of her strength turned out to be massive.

This—coupled with her intuition warning her that she should not give up—strengthened Liora’s resolve, preventing her from falling unconscious.

Since Liora had closed her eyes in order to bear what could only be considered torture, she didn’t know just how terrifying her current appearance was.

However, standing beside her, Alpha, Scurry, and the Owl Devil all witnessed her transformation first-hand.

First, a shrieking, uncomfortable sound came out of Liora’s body as her bones were ground into pieces, followed by a large number of tears.

The skin all over her body suddenly split apart, as if she had instantly suffered thousands of precise sword cuts.

Her shattered bones were revealed from within the cracks before blood began flowing out of them.

As if a dam had burst inside of her, countless amounts of her own blood poured out, first dyeing her crimson and then swallowing her figure whole.

The blood didn’t stop there.

It began to expand even further, devouring everything along its path.

A loud sizzle echoed the moment a single drop of Liora’s blood touched the ground, and the earth around it began dissolving.

Then, more and more blood dripped down, soon forming a large, seemingly ever-growing pool.

"Wha—what is that?
