Chapter 218: Devouring World Origin
"However, I didn’t expect that you would be alive still. Sure enough, none of you Outsiders can be underestimated. Even you, the weakest..."
After pausing for a brief moment, the Beast Emperor asked a question of its own:
"Is that woman dead?"
When it saw Liora nod her head, it immediately exhaled softly, as if relieved by such an answer.
Liora sensed its emotions but didn’t try to reciprocate them. A cold, murderous intent flashed in her eyes, and it looked as if she were ready to kill him.
Despite this, the Beast Emperor showed no reaction.
Ignoring the fact that Liora was getting closer and seemingly forgetting about its own severe injuries, it opened its mouth and spoke up:
"You should have understood by now that the world itself possesses a consciousness. After its initial battle with that Outsider, it gave its favor to a certain person."
"It granted him great luck and extraordinary comprehension, hoping that he would one day grow up and deal with that Outsider. It was the world’s way to save itself."
Though the Beast Emperor didn’t specifically point it out, Liora understood that the person it was talking about was Duke Dandelion.
Indeed, the fact that the Duke had been able to create a method to become a King of Knights despite the issues with the power system showed that he possessed extraordinary talent and luck.
Although at the end, he was suppressed by the Founding Emperor and was unable to put up a fight, his achievements were already impressive.
Seeing her understand who it was talking about, the Beast Emperor continued:
"At the time, the Will of this World tied the Outsider’s cage to the fate of that person. As long as he didn’t die, he could act as an anchor, stabilizing the cage and keeping that woman locked up for eternity."
"Unfortunately, it didn’t take long for the world to discover that it had underestimated that Outsider. Although locked up, that woman discovered a gap in her prison. Through some method, she was able to corrupt the entire world."
Liora understood what the Beast Emperor was implying.
The Will of the World had underestimated the Zerg Hive, and above all, had underestimated the Zerg race.
Thus, it had never expected that, although it had "defeated" the Zerg Hive, she would still have the ability to affect reality.
As such, its fate was sealed.
Even if the cage remained there and trapped the Zerg Hive forever, the world would go to ruin sooner or later.
Understanding this, Liora’s eyes narrowed as she waited for the Beast Emperor’s follow-up.
The Beast Emperor did not keep her waiting.
It soon opened its mouth again and continued:
"Realizing its mistake, the world devised another part. By splitting an inc—"
Halfway through its words, the Beast Emperor’s body froze.
Its eyes, which had remained calm even while facing death, were now filled with terror.
Its pupils shrank into needles as the lights that had always surrounded it dimmed, as if they were about to go out.
The next moment, a thunderous bang echoed in the dimly lit room.
The Beast Emperor, a being at the peak of the Lesser Devil stage, exploded.
Worst of all, it didn’t die at the hands of Liora or any of its many enemies.
Instead, it seemed to have been wiped out by the world itself.
Watching this scene, Liora waved her hand to suppress the explosion’s impact.
Time seemed to have reversed as the flying blood and flesh returned to their original place.
Under her control, they finally turned into a single drop of essence. She carefully put it away.
However, she didn’t feel much achievement in having witnessed the death of the person who had betrayed her.
The Beast Emperor had indeed died, but not at her hands.
"Will of the World...
