Chapter 455: Chapter 454: Three Types of Scaled Towers
In the palm of his left hand, the M-shaped mark had completely vanished.
Facing the Dragon Knight, the pinnacle of human and indeed the world’s combat strength, the Little Dream Dragon deeply understood the importance of subtlety.
Boom!
Like a massive teorite falling from the sky, the Fiery Dragon landed atop the mouth of Shadowfla Volcano with a crash.
The entire Shadowfla Volcano trembled from the impact.
Fortunately, the main rock of the volcano was extrely solid, rely quivering for a mont before stabilizing. Billowing black smoke rose up, resembling that which is emitted from churning magma, but this smoke was an innate feature of the Fiery Dragon.
Alongside, the Torrential Flood Dragon landed lightly on the edge of the crater, a stark contrast to the bombastic entrance of the Fiery Dragon, appearing graceful and delicate.
On the Fiery Dragon’s forehead sat a scale-crafted throne exclusive to Dragon Knights, and King Ares·Sunfire slowly rose to his feet.
His figure was minuscule in comparison to the dragon.
Shrouded in thick smoke, he would be easy to miss, but the crowd at the mouth of the volcano had gathered precisely to greet him.
Naturally, they searched diligently, then fixed their gaze steadfastly upon the forehead of the Fiery Dragon.
“Roar!”
That was the dragon roar of the Fiery Dragon, powerful and domineering.
With a figure entwined in thick smoke, a teoric arrival, topped off by this earth-shattering dragon roar.
The Fiery Dragon perfectly embodied the poise expected from the most formidable creature on Dragon Sleep Continent.
But not every dragon recognized this.
“Roar!”
From the depths of the volcano ca the response of the Shadowfla Dragon; although it looked rather ethereal, its roar was still full of vigor.
Its dominion within the dragon roar was on par with the bellow of the Fiery Dragon.
Following that, the Shadowfla Dragon, glowing red and magma-like, slowly erged from the volcano mouth, eventually perching on the other side like the master of the volcano. Its gaze was firmly locked on the Fiery Dragon, and its narrow, elongated pupils radiated a cold light.
To the northwest of the crater sat the Fiery Dragon and the Torrential Flood Dragon side by side.
To the southeast, the Shadowfla Dragon led the nobles of the Grand Duchy, facing the others from across the way.
Amid three colossal beasts, humans appeared as a swarm of ants.
Yet, it is the “ants” who dominate the social formalities. King Ares stood on the forehead of the Fiery Dragon, looking down upon the multitude like a divine spirit.
“Regent Lady, it’s ti for you to greet His Majesty the King,” Chief Steward Lord Kunbei reminded in a low voice.
Princess Anxia took a deep breath, pulling Princess Kunlaya along, and took a step forward.
Then she said loudly, “Anxia Sunfire pays respect to His Majesty, and on behalf of the Shadowfla Duchy, extends a warm welco to His Majesty’s arrival! We also welco Their Highnesses Fiery and Torrential Flood as guests to Shadowfla Volcano.”
After Princess Anxia spoke, there was a brief silence.
King Ares did not respond; he simply stood on the forehead of the Fiery Dragon, seemingly assessing Princess Anxia and Princess Kunlaya.
The nobility of the Shadowfla Duchy awaited King Ares’ reply.
Russell was no exception.
His gaze had already sketched out the complete visage of the Fiery Dragon. Dragon Breath seethed; every Dragon Breath Particle actively sensed the power radiated by the Dragon Knight—emanating from the atmosphere ford by Dragonfla.
Like an abyss, like a prison.
In comparison to dragons without knights, the Dragonfla of the Fiery Dragon was wilder, yet within that wildness it harbored the power of order.
Russell was making earnest comparisons.
He felt that the Dragonfla of ordinary dragons was like a regular water pipe, with a constant flow of water, but without any variation. Whereas the Dragonfla of a Dragon Knight was like a water pipe equipped with a high-pressure nozzle, spraying at will, with size and force controlled by desire.
Once combat erupted, the Dragonfla could, like a high-pressure hose, spew out a stream capable of suffocating and killing a person.
“How terrifying!” The more he sensed the aura of the Dragon Knights, the more awe Russell felt towards them.
Yet within that reverence, an uncontrollable urge arose—the impulse of “Could one not replace them?”
King Ares was a Dragon Knight, and he, Russell Fluorescent Fungus, was also a Dragon Knight by identity.
Besides, the power of the Little Dream Dragon might be stronger than that of the Fiery Dragon.
For a long ti.
The words of King Ares broke the silent atmosphere at the mouth of the Shadowfla Volcano, “Anxia, my daughter, it has been a long ti.”
Princess Anxia remained silent as well.
However, her silence didn’t last long, as she bowed her head and replied softly, “Father…”
She then nudged Princess Kunlaya slightly, and the little princess imdiately knelt to the ground, greeting him with her crisp voice, “Kunlaya greets her grandfather.”
Behind the thick smoke.
King Ares took a glance at his granddaughter, his expression markedly serene, his voice particularly chilling, “Rise, Kunlaya.”
There were no warm scenes, only the procedural formalities of a monarch’s eting.
After the greeting rituals were completed, Count rlin stepped forward and said, “Your Majesty, please proceed to Red Castle; a grand ceremonial feast has been prepared for you to cleanse the dust from your journey.”
Only then did King Ares slowly step down from the Fiery Dragon, floating through the air.
With the smokescreen no longer obfuscating the view, everyone could clear see King Ares’s face. Beneath the dense sideburns that partially concealed his face, was a handso countenance sowhat resembling Princess Anxia, especially the amber eyes that shone brightly.
The lights in his eyes seed to spill out at all tis, so piercing that no one dared look him in the eye.
Russell, however, was an exception.
The Little Dream Dragon had given him imnse confidence, so the Dragon Knight filter of King Ares did not have a significant effect on him.
“Not very tall, no more than 175 centiters, half a head shorter than … The King’s armor looks quite heavy, but his build seems not so robust.” Russell moved with the group, occasionally glancing at King Ares’s retreating figure.
Solely based on his image, King Ares differed slightly from Russell’s image of a Dragon Knight.
However, the aura emitted by King Ares, who was surrounded by others like stars encircling the moon, was sufficient to make up for any shortfall in appearance.
The atmosphere along the way wasn’t solemn at all.
Even though King Ares and his daughter, Princess Anxia, displayed no familial affection and barely exchanged a few words,
Count rlin and Marquis Arno, flanking King Ares on either side, talked freely about matters of state.
“I’ve already considered it on my way here,” King Ares said, “With Frost Giants bringing Snow Giants to our doorstep, our two countries should huddle even closer together. There are two Frost Giants and one Snow Giant on the Snowfield, while we have three dragons and , a Dragon Knight.”
His gaze swept over Count rlin’s face before he continued, “The Torrent Scale Tower is a good start to cooperation. We can deepen our collaboration from there. Let Blazing Spire be built in your country as well… and Shadowfla Spire in mine.”
After hearing this, Count rlin frowned slightly, “Your Majesty, this matter is significant. I must discuss it with His Highness Shadowfla before making a decision.”
The Fiery Dragon and the Torrential Flood Dragon were at the height of their power.
Constructing Spires to project their shades didn’t require much of the Original Dragon Fla, but the Shadowfla Dragon had already weakened twice.
Even if a Shadowfla Spire was constructed, there would probably be a will without a way, rendering it largely ineffective.
Hearing Count rlin’s response, King Ares shook his head in dissatisfaction, “This is the downside of dragons without riders; even the nation’s big and small affairs lack a decisive voice… Back in the day, Quentin III and I just had to et, and everything would be decided, how delightful!”
