Chapter 177: Chapter 176: Terrifying Night on the Snowfield

“Lord Russell, Knight Commander Karis!” Lord Stephen, with his long, horse-like face, responded indifferently from the northeastern corner of the campsite.

As a fellow lord, it was only proper for Russell to co over and greet him.

However, seeing that Lord Stephen was not enthusiastic, Russell couldn’t be bothered to make further conversation and went back to his own campsite.

Knight Commander Karis quickly followed suit, “Lord Stephen is always like that, cold to everyone, even when eting the Earl, he’s the sa. Don’t take it to heart, Sir.”

“I haven’t.” Russell smiled, “It’s been a hard day, Knight Commander Karis, let’s have a glass of frozen grape wine together.”

“As you wish.” Knight Commander Karis readily agreed.

Once personal servant Ram had prepared the evening al, the two sat on the ground and, with a simple dinner, sipped the frozen grape wine in small mouthfuls.

“Drinking a glass of ice burn in the snow, it truly is refreshing,” exclaid Knight Commander Karis.

Russell laughed, “Isn’t that the truth.”

Ice burn is frozen grape wine, ice-cold on the lips but fiery as it goes down the throat, hence commonly known as ice burn.

Russell wasn’t much of a wine enthusiast, so he hadn’t studied it much, but he knew knights and rchants traveling through the snowfields favored frozen grape wine.

The so-called frozen grape wine is made by icing the wine until it begins to freeze, then removing the frozen parts first. The remaining liquid is the frozen grape wine, also known as ice burn.

In Russell’s view, this was probably because alcohol has a lower freezing point than water, so the water freezes first, and removing the ice is like distilling the wine.

That’s why ice burn is so potent, burning like fire as it goes down the throat.

After finishing a bottle of ice burn, Karis stood up, took his leave, “Thank you for the hospitality, Sir. You should rest early; I shall take my leave.”

“By all ans.”

After finishing dinner, although it was still early, the lively atmosphere of Cold Spring Point had already dissipated, with most of the caravan having eaten and gone to sleep.

Only a few livestock made occasional noises.

Russell likewise quickly fell asleep, and before he knew it, his consciousness rekindled, and Gloomy Dreamland had descended upon him.

“Ga!”

“Depart!”

Without even a glance at the nearby situation at Cold Spring Point, Russell rode on Little Dream Dragon, opting to fly south, “This direction, south of Twin Rivers Trade Route, also is the whole southern part of Shadowfla Duchy, where I’ll surely find the Snow Demons!”

The Twin Rivers Trade Route runs east-west; it’s the southernmost trade route in the Shadowfla Duchy. Further south lies the boundless snowfield.

Little Dream Dragon bared its teeth and cried out loudly in agreent with Russell, “Ga!”

Thirty kiloters per hour!

The wings flapped without stopping; there was no wind in Quiet Dream, but Russell could feel his hair fluttering.

He had thought it would take so ti to search before finding traces of Snow Ghosts, yet within less than half a quarter-hour of flight, which ant just three or four kiloters from Cold Spring Point, he saw a burst of blue-green light flare up ahead.

“Am I in luck?” Russell exclaid in surprise.

But the surprise only lasted a minute before turning into fright. Within the burst of blue-green light were three distinct deep blue lights, exceptionally conspicuous.

What was even more alarming was that this group, led by three Snow Demons, was flying straight toward Russell and Little Dream Dragon. They couldn’t see Russell and Little Dream Dragon, which ant they were heading towards Cold Spring Point.

“Sothing’s not right, Ice Cream!”

Russell’s brow furrowed, “This group of Snow Ghosts has about one or two hundred of them, not only are there three blue-skinned ones, but also nearly ten big blue-skinned, if they charge into Cold Spring Point, can it be defended?”

“Ga?”

“No, I must take out so of the blue-skinned first!”

After Russell snapped out of it, he quickly directed the Little Dream Dragon, “Ice Cream, old plan first, eat the green-skinned ones, clean them out, then the big green-skinned ones, followed by the blue-skinned ones!”

“Ga!” The Little Dream Dragon agreed with one bite.

Then it rushed into the midst of the Snow Ghosts as if entering an uninhabited territory, and indeed, there were no humans around; none of the Snow Ghosts or Snow Demons could spot it.

So, up next it was the Little Dream Dragon’s turn to let loose on its eating ban.

In just a few minutes, the green-skinned Snow Ghosts had been completely wiped out, which unmistakably alerted the three rampaging Snow Demons, who then waved their icy weapons wildly into the air, but in vain as they couldn’t stop the Snow Ghosts from disappearing one by one.

They vanished just like smoke, with a puff.

“Beautifully done!” Russell exclaid with joy, “Speed it up, we’ll soon be back at Cold Spring Point, and if I get woken up, you won’t get to eat the Ice Soul Pearl!”

“Ga!” The Little Dream Dragon couldn’t let that happen, its eyes imdiately turned red, its round pupils turned into vertical slits, and with its mouth opening and closing, it consud the remaining ten big green-skinned ones as well, then targeted one of the Snow Demons.

“Right, that one, I have a feeling it has at least two Ice Soul Pearls!” Russell cheered loudly, “Go for it, Ice Cream, eating it will fill you up for six days without getting hungry!”

“Ga!”

With a full-throated roar filled with baby-like innocence, the Little Dream Dragon went on a mad sucking spree targeting the Snow Demon swinging its icy weapon.

A deep blue light on the Snow Demon’s body quickly ford a vortex at the chest area.

“Ah man!” Russell scratched his head awkwardly, it seed that luck wasn’t on his side today; this Snow Demon had only one Ice Soul Pearl.

However, the Little Dream Dragon had already begun sucking, there was no ti to switch to another target, and so it had to make do and finish off this one first.

After all, with its growth, the Little Dream Dragon’s devouring capability had beco increasingly formidable.

The Snow Demon had no chance to struggle, only opening its mouth silently in a roar and then, at the mont when the Ice Soul Pearl materialized, it completely disappeared from within the Dream Clone. Leaving behind two bewildered Snow Demons with their mouths agape.

It seed they were furious over the disappearance of their companion.

“Ga crunch…” The Little Dream Dragon chewed the Ice Soul Pearl happily, gulping it down whole, then turned its head to look at Russell.

It appeared ready to greet Russell and then return to digest its al leisurely.

Russell also wanted to ask the Little Dream Dragon if it could continue eating, as leaving the two Snow Demons unresolved would be a waste.

But the next mont, his consciousness returned to silence.

It was as though he had had a lengthy dream, and in a daze, Russell heard soone calling for him, “My lord, my lord!”

He suddenly opened his eyes, “What’s wrong?”

“My lord, the knights on patrol have spotted traces of Snow Demons, and two of them are charging towards us!” his personal servant Ram said anxiously.

Russell was jolted awake.

He quickly got up, hurriedly donned the dark gold ceramic armor lying beside him, then took up the Green Ceramic Sword and stepped out of the tent.

Outside the tent, the entire Cold Spring Point camp had been stirred up, and there was noise everywhere.

Knight Commander Karis, with his Fantasy Beast—a crystal white wolf—quickly approached Russell, “Lord Russell, please be careful. The sentry has spotted the Snow Demons, and there are two of them. I’m going to join forces with Lord Stephen to confront the Snow Demons!”

“Rest assured, Knight Commander Karis, I’ll protect myself,” Russell nodded, not foolishly insisting on joining the battle.

After all, Snow Demons, even those without minions—bare and unard—were still too much for an Ard Knight like him to handle.

Fortunately, they were just ordinary blue-skinned ones, not those mounted on Snow Beasts. If they had been the mounted kind, only a Bipedal Flying Dragon could face them.

“My, my lord…” his personal servant Ram, holding an iron sword and trembling slightly, followed Russell.

“Guard the carriage well, protect the Elf!” Russell ordered firmly, then motioned for the Red-eyed Rat King to follow him, “I’m going to the courtyard above to check things out!”

“Yes, yes, my lord!” Ram nodded continuously.
