Chapter 170: Chapter 169: The Promise of the Great Dragon
Having removed the Snow Demon Crystal, Lord dikalun’s body no longer had any hidden dangers, so the fla pattern returned to normal.
However, one could clearly feel that its fla color was duller than that of Lord rcedes.
This was due to having been severely injured once and also having given away so of its Origin, leaving it in a weakened state.
“Ice Cream.”
“Ga?”
“You say, if I’m preparing to ride a Bipedal Flying Dragon before you grow up, how about riding Lord dikalun?”
“Ga.” The Little Dream Dragon bared its teeth, clearly not very satisfied with Russell’s choice.
“Lord dikalun isn’t too bad, you know. It gave
its Origin Dragon’s Breath, which vastly accelerated my training progress.”
“Ga!”
The Little Dream Dragon shook its head decisively, it did not allow Russell to ride Lord dikalun.
Russell frowned, “What about Lord rcedes then?”
“Ga!”
“That’s not okay either, what about Mr. Ross? I only have access to these three Bipedal Flying Dragons. You can’t deny
all of them, can you?”
“Ga!”
The Little Dream Dragon was very firm, firmly opposed.
“Then can you co out of the mountain earlier, let’s say three years? I’ll give you three years to erge from the volcano, how about that?”
“Ga.” The Little Dream Dragon looked up at the sky, which was completely dark and empty.
Russell couldn’t decipher what the dragon was trying to express through its cries and expressions. The Little Dream Dragon had indeed grown, with a pair of horns that had now forked, but beyond simple communication, they couldn’t understand each other when it ca to more complex matters.
“Forget it, let’s take things one step at a ti,” said Russell, as there was not much else he could do, “Besides, I shouldn’t be overly ambitious. I’ll start by riding Fantasy Beasts, then Flying Dragons, earning more resources to help Ice Cream grow, with the hope of riding a real Great Dragon sooner rather than later!”
With that thought.
He patted the Little Dream Dragon’s head, “Right, Ice Cream?”
The Little Dream Dragon didn’t understand what Russell was saying, but that didn’t stop it from pretending to understand, cooperating with a tily “Ga!”
“That settles it, Ice Cream.”
“Ga!”
“A Great Dragon’s promise, you can’t go back on it.”
“Ga!”
…
The next day, on September 12th of the year 5581 of the Dragon Calendar, as the warm season gradually approached the hottest part of the sumr, even a Warm Enclave like Tributary River Mouth could feel a hint of scorching heat in the air.
“I like this season, I like the hot sumr days,” Lola said as she changed into a pretty floral dress.
Rolin, holding her sister’s hand, said with a smile, “What girl doesn’t like the season when you can wear dresses?”
She also wore a dress, but it was a long one with a black base, complented by a light purple jacket on top. If one didn’t look at her face, she seed like a classical beauty straight out of an oil painting, exuding an elegant and charming aura.
“But it’s no fun around volcanoes during the hot sumr season,” Roland, who had recovered from yesterday’s embarrassnt, was back to his confident self as the Baron’s heir.
Lola was puzzled, “Why?”
“Because volcanoes are hot to begin with, and when you add in the hot sumr season, it’s simply unbearable,” Roland began to recount his experiences with the Dragon Blood Knights, “…every ti we trained in the volcano, it was so hot we felt like shedding a layer of skin…”
“That’s why the Warm Enclave is so nice, even during the hot sumr, you don’t feel as hot,” Rolin added.
“But it’s very cold in the winter,” said Russell as he walked out.
He, too, had changed into a new outfit, not one he brought from ho but one prepared for him by Bluebird Castle.
A dark red, tailored, buttonless swallowtail coat with black floral patterns embroidered from the collar down to the hem and pin and chain decorations on the chest. Inside, he wore a black vest with gold double-breasted buttons connected by golden chains between each row.
His lower half was clad in a pair of snug riding pants, and his feet were shod in boots that weren’t very high. All were in black fabric.
Overall, the style appeared simple yet grand, but upon closer inspection, one could see the intricate and complex patterns and decorations hidden within.
Everything from the bow tie to the buttons, from the lapel pin to the chains, required careful coordination.
“Ugh, Russell, I really want to tear that face of yours apart,” Rolin said bluntly. “How did you manage to be born this handso? And I have to admit, these clothes really suit you. You’ve even outshone l.”
“Thank you.”
“Russell, you’re so handso,” Lola also praised, her envy apparent.
After showering him with praise, she let out a sorrowful sigh, evidently the eleven-year-old girl had already awakened to the appreciation of beauty and understood the gap between herself and Russell.
Only Roland, the elder brother, was indifferent to Russell’s good looks, even feeling sowhat superior—what did looks matter when, at the birthday banquet, the ladies and young won welcod him more warmly. It was a clear proof that status was far more useful than good looks.
“All right, let’s hurry downstairs for breakfast. Father, mother, as well as uncle and aunt are probably finished eating by now.”
The four siblings headed down together.
“Cousin l,” rushed over in a hurry, “Wait for , wait for
to join.”
He walked briskly, his personal servant trotting alongside him at an angle, helping to smooth out so wrinkles in his collar.
“Hey, steady on, l,” Rolin teased.
l ignored Rolin’s mockery, knowing all too well what kind of mischievous character his cousin was, only one year his junior.
He rely asked simply, “Where’s Cooper?”
“He’s downstairs, dining with my parents and yours.”
“He’s an early riser.”
“As an heir, isn’t that the least to be expected?” Rolin noted.
“As if Roland and I aren’t heirs too, but we slept in just the sa,” l, having adjusted his clothes, declared, wrapping an arm around Roland and Russell. “Right, life’s pleasures are few and far between, sleep being one of them.”
Russell chuckled, “Sorry, I’m not an heir, so I don’t need to wake up early.”
Laughing and joking, they soon reached the buffet restaurant downstairs, where Viscount jie and his wife were leisurely chatting with Baron Roman and his wife, and Lord Cooper seed to be enjoying their company.
Once Russell and the others joined, the conversation beca even livelier.
Until Earl rlin ca downstairs.
“Father.”
“Grandfather.”
Everyone stood up.
Earl rlin looked at the family of Baron Roman with a very calm expression, showing no sense of regret about the impending departure, “Have you all had breakfast? Then we’d best set off early. It’s a long journey from Bluebird Castle to Twin Rivers Trade Route. Let’s not waste ti.”
“Father, we’re leaving, please take care,” Lady ryl stepped forward and gently embraced Earl rlin.
Baron Roman gave a knight’s salute, thumping his chest.
“Go ahead, co visit
when you have the chance,” Earl rlin nodded.
Then the whole family moved to the entrance of the castle. Earl rlin stopped at the door, while Viscount jie and his wife hugged Roland and the others once more, instructing, “l, Russell, accompany them on part of the journey.”
“Alright, Father,” l nodded.
He and Russell then mounted their horses and caught up with Baron Roman’s carriage.
They left Earl rlin, Viscount jie, and his wife standing at the gate, watching the carriages depart the castle and disappear on the road down the hill.
“Father, the carriages are out of sight, you should go back and rest,” Viscount jie suggested.
“Mm,” Earl rlin turned and went back into the hall, heading straight upstairs. Despite being over seventy, he still moved swiftly.
However, his figure from behind seed sowhat lonely today.
