Chapter 161: Chapter 160 Pain
“Gah.” The Little Dream Dragon hovered disdainfully in front of the Blue Crystal Dragon dikalun’s Magic Light silhouette.
Russell, however, ticulously checked the condition of the Blue Crystal Dragon.
Bright red fla patterns covered its entire body, ticulously outlining every detail of the Blue Crystal Dragon, including scales, claws, dragon horns, and even pupils, although there was no sparkle of life.
There was just one area, on the hind part of its thigh, where the fla seed to have been extinguished, revealing a black spot.
The black spot was small, especially in comparison to the seven to eight-ter-long body of the Blue Crystal Dragon. It was just a tiny black spot, but its presence severely restricted the fla pattern at the thigh, diminishing the mystique.
Furthermore, upon closer inspection, Russell found another kind of light within the black spot, concealed by it and too obscured to identify.
“It seems to be… a deep blue light, huh? This light seems similar to that of the Snow Demon!” Russell realized.
He now suspected that Lord dikalun might have been gravely injured in the past, such that the power of the Snow Demon still lingered deep in the muscle of his thigh, firmly suppressing Lord dikalun’s own power, causing a gap in the fla pattern.
“From this perspective, Lord dikalun must be in pain every day, right?” Russell thought.
However, he did not let the Little Dream Dragon act recklessly. For one thing, the Little Dream Dragon did not like food laced with magic power, such as half-Ghost Beast; and for another, should the Little Dream Dragon make any rash moves, it might attract the attention of the Bipedal Flying Dragon.
“Still, tomorrow I can ask Cousin l about what kind of injury Lord dikalun suffered from and why it hasn’t healed after such a long ti.”
“Gah.” The Little Dream Dragon was getting impatient.
Russell laughed, “All right, let’s go for a stroll!”
This ti, Russell was not in search of any treasures. Tributary River Mouth was not his territory, and everything within it belonged to Count rlin. He had already received the generous gift of the Tobacco Sprite Niko from Count rlin and did not expect more.
Without the goal of treasure-hunting, they quickly flew away from Gloomy Dreamland, wandering around and even visiting the Da Wan River.
The Clearwater River and the Turbid River t at the Da Wan River, where the plains had carved out a broad channel vast as a lake.
Countless fish species dwelled and multiplied here, and even Fantasy Beasts born from fish had erged.
One man, one dragon, one butterfly, one flower, they flew over the riverbed of the Da Wan River, encountering many strange Magic Lights, all small points of light, unclear in origins—possibly clam or Primordial Beast fish.
But these Magic light spots were fleeting, and even if Russell wanted to mark them, he found it impossible to do so.
Eventually.
The Little Dream Dragon stood at the bottom of the river and yawned, “Gah…”
“Alright, let’s part here, see you tomorrow night.” Russell waved his hand, and all fell into darkness again.
…
The next day, when l ca to take Russell out, Russell didn’t beat around the bush and directly expressed his desire to see the dragon.
“Look at dragons, no problem!” l laughed, “I’ve heard Roland say that Mr. Ross pays no attention to you; wouldn’t it be better if you won over Lord dikalun instead? If you two are compatible, you could even beco my vassal.”
“Riding dragons is not that simple,” Russell smiled.
As for becoming vassal to Roland or l, he had not even considered it. Being a man who owned a Great Dragon, he was capable of founding his own country and had no intention of considering servitude to anyone else.
The two walked towards the Arrow Tower, followed by servants carrying a whole roasted sheep, which was a gift for Lord dikalun.
They quickly climbed to the top of the Arrow Tower.
Lord dikalun was sitting there, and upon seeing l and Russell arrive, it rolled its eyes but showed little reaction.
Even as they hoisted the roasted sheep up, it remained indifferent.
“Lord dikalun, Russell and I have co to see you,” l said with a smile, “Look, we’ve brought you sothing delicious to eat.”
Snort.
Lord dikalun snorted out two faint flas from his nostrils, then gently stretched his neck, opened his gaping maw, and snatched up the roasted whole sheep. Tilting his head back, he swallowed it in just a couple of bites, then, licking his lips, he settled back down into a crouching position.
To him, a whole roasted sheep was just a snack.
l reached out to touch Lord dikalun’s lower leg, and Russell took the opportunity to move to the top of the arrow tower’s slope, which was just the right spot to reach Lord dikalun’s thigh.
But he didn’t reach out his hand imdiately. Instead, he asked, “May I touch you, Lord dikalun?”
The intelligence of a bipedal flying dragon was not much less than that of a human.
Lord dikalun narrowed his eyes to look at Russell and snorted out two faint flas, then dropped his head lower.
l nodded and said, “You can touch him now.”
Only then did Russell extend his hand and gently touched the spot he had observed last night in the Gloomy Dreamland.
As he carefully examined it, he could see a faint scar on the back of the thigh.
The tabolism of a bipedal flying dragon was very fast. Generally, no matter how severe the injury, as long as it wasn’t fatal, it would heal quickly.
“There’s a scar here, l. Has Lord dikalun ever been injured?” Russell asked.
“Just a skin wound, a few months ago, while escorting my mother to Gravel Domain, Lord dikalun went out hunting Snow Demons by himself and scraped his skin… Uh, it’s been quite so days now, how co the scar hasn’t faded yet?”
l also noticed the faint scar and joked, “Lord dikalun, when did your healing power beco so weak?”
Lord dikalun bared his teeth.
Russell imdiately voiced the thoughts he had carefully considered, “l, I feel that there’s a look of pain in Lord dikalun’s eyes. Could it be that the wound is deep, or has the power of the Snow Demon lingered in the wound without fading?”
“How could that be, it’s just a skin wound,” l said dismissively.
Nevertheless, Russell turned to Lord dikalun and asked, “If you are in pain, Lord dikalun, just tell . Perhaps I can help you.”
“You’re trying a little too hard to please,” l comnted, thinking that Russell was just being solicitous to ingratiate himself with the Blue Crystal Dragon, “A dragon won’t approve of you just because of your tender gestures.”
Lord dikalun turned his head back and looked at Russell.
As if scrutinizing him.
Then, under l’s astonished gaze, he slowly nodded at Russell, clearly conveying a look of pain in his eyes.
“This…” l was instantly astounded.
He had never seen such a side of the powerful and resilient bipedal flying dragon, revealing such a tornted look in its eyes. Even the corners of its mouth, filled with sharp teeth, began to twitch, an indicator of extre pain.
“l, it seems that Lord dikalun’s injury is more severe than I imagined. I think it must be the power of the Snow Demon, tornting him from within his body,” Russell said, looking into l’s eyes, “The wound needs to be reopened to extract the power of the Snow Demon.”
l was completely flustered and imdiately nodded, “Okay, I’ll go inform my grandfather at once!”
Russell nodded, “Go ahead, I’ll stay here with Lord dikalun.”
After l climbed down the arrow tower, Russell whispered to Lord dikalun, “First, let my grandfather take a look at you. If he can heal you, then let him do it, since he’s a Flying Dragon Knight. If my grandfather can’t heal you, I will make sure to cure you!”
Snort.
Lord dikalun lowered his head and snorted loudly at Russell.
