It wasn't surprising what the Li family could do in a short while. While Tang Moyu and Feng Tianyi were able to find a good neurosurgeon, they were no match against Chairman Li who was able to prepare everything in under twenty-four hours.
The Li family had even found the blood bags with a blood type O negative, which was hard to find. Zhang Jiren was O negative like Tang Moyu, which ant they could donate blood to anyone, but finding a donor wouldn't be easy.
As Tang Moyu watched her twin brother being taken inside the operating room, she stood next to Li ili who was now calr than the last ti Tang Moyu had seen her. She had heard from Feng Tianyi—how traumatic it had been for Li ili, hearing about Tang Beixuan's death—as she waited outside the operating room.
At least, Li ili wasn't a ss right now and was calm enough to hear the explanation of the best neurosurgeon her father sent to oversee her husband's surgery. The neurosurgeon that arrived earlier was younger than what Tang Moyu had expected, but according to his profile, he was one of the best neurosurgeons within the country.
"Thank you, ili, but I didn't expect that you would do this for Jiren," she whispered to her best friend as the doors closed, the green light indicating that the surgery was about to start.
Li ili stared at the closed doors and shut her eyes. It didn't matter if she needed to beg her father, to lower her pride. As long as she would be assured that Zhang Jiren would live, she was willing to do anything at this point.
"I sotis wish I am as capable as you, Moyu. I wish I could do things to help Jiren, but I don't know how…" Her words trailed off.
She couldn't just watch him get sicker day by day. She knew she needed to do sothing; that was why she decided to seek her father's help this ti. Her father seed aware of her situation and didn't ask for anything in return.
Please don't let lose him too—she prayed as tears filled her eyes. She couldn't go through that pain again. Just the thought of losing Zhang Jiren was enough for her heart to break into pieces.
'Don't cry, ili. I trust the doctors. I will co back just fine.' Zhang Jiren's words earlier played on her mind. 'I love you.' He tried to assure her.
'I know.' She sobbed as she held his hand. 'You better wake up.'
"You are doing just fine, ili. I'm sure my brother knows that. Just being by his side is enough for him. Just be here and fight this problem with him. He needed you with him on this." Tang Moyu pulled her friend along with her to take a seat while they waited.
Li ili ceased her crying and wiped her tears dry. Crying now wouldn't help Zhang Jiren in getting better. She needed to be strong for his sake and believe that he would co back alive.
"You okay?" Tang Moyu asked.
"I'm peaches," Li ili answered with a shaky voice.
"You know you aren't alone in this, ili. Jiren would co back to us alive and well."
It wasn't like Li ili was the only one who was worried about Zhang Jiren. As Tang Moyu sat with her waiting, she rembered the last conversation she had with her brother.
…
"You have to promise that you will co back alive, Jiren. If it's not for , please do it for ili and Leyan."
"It's not sothing I could easily guarantee, Moyu Jie," Zhang Jiren said with a weak smile.
"You listen to ." The empress said with eyes shone with tears. "I'm not losing another brother again like that again, you hear?"
Tears fell over her cheek. They just reunited as siblings after decades of separation. How could Tang Moyu accept that she would lose him just as fast as he ca?
"You hear ? We cannot lose you, Jiren. If you die, I also know that I would also lose ili. There's no coming back to her if we lose you. Leyan would lose not only just her father, but her mother as well."
"Okay. I get it. Just do what you have to and keep my heart beating. I will do the rest." Zhang Jiren conceded. If his twin sister put it that way, how could he allow himself to succ.u.mb to death?
A part of him felt like a horrible father. What would happen to his little girl if he didn't make it? If his sister was right, that would an that Li ili wouldn't be able to look after her if he dies today. Little girls like Leyan needed their parents, especially at her young age.
If Li ili loved him that much, then he owed it to her to co back alive. How co he didn't know she loved him like that? He should have known that by now.
"I'll make sure everything will be fine while you are there, Jiren. You got on this. You need to live and be strong for ili and Leyan. They couldn't be without you anymore." Tang Moyu pierced him with a fierce but calm look.
…
Now that Tang Moyu was here, waiting along with Li ili, she prayed that the surgery would go well, and her brother wouldn't suffer any complications. The surgeon assured them that he would do his best to remove as much of the tumor Zhang Jiren had, and if they were forced to leave so, it would be nothing that radiation therapy couldn't treat.
The surgery wouldn't pose much risk than the treatnts Zhang Jiren would take later, but they couldn't be sure that everything would work as planned as surgeries like this still posed so risks to the patient.
Tang Moyu sat there and prayed like she'd never prayed in her entire life.
