Li ili dragged herself, dropping her purse on the nearby chair next to the massive bed and sloppily fell over the sheets. anwhile, Zhang Jiren pulled the bow tie from his neck, smiling as he watched his wife muttering incoherent words.
"You seem like you had fun." Li ili shot him a pointed look once she rolled on her back. It was obvious that Zhang Jiren had enjoyed the night as he rarely spent ti in public with his twin sister and saw his niece and nephew.
"I can't say I didn't. It was nice, except seeing so eyesore tonight. At least they didn't cause trouble to Moyu Jie and Feng Tianyi this ti." He removed his coat and sat on the bed next to his wife.
"What?" Li ili asked when she noticed his stare. There was sothing in his eyes that forced her to look at him, only at him.
"Just thinking that I haven't taken out my wife on a date," Zhang Jiren said with a dashing smile that made Li ili blush under his gaze. "Would you be free to go out with this coming Friday?" he asked.
Li ili sat up and bit her lower lip. His question caught her off guard. Although they were both clear that they were a couple now, it only ant that she only had three days to prepare for their first night out. Li ili had never felt this nervousness and anticipation from her past relationsh.i.p.s.
"Hm? I have no other plans this Friday, but we need soone to look after Leyan if we are to go out again," she reminded him. They rarely left Leyan behind with her nanny unless they needed to. Li ili and Zhang Jiren were both hands-on when it ca to raising their daughter.
"That could be arranged. I don't think Elder Lan would mind looking after her for a few hours," Zhang Jiren answered her.
Friday ca and Li ili found herself standing in front of the mirror, her hands brushing the imaginary crease in her dress. She had been on a lot of dates before, but she couldn't rember feeling nervous like she was today. Even when she went out for the first ti with Tang Beixuan, she rembered being relaxed with him.
So how co she was nervous today? Her eyes kept looking around for sothing to do while waiting for her husband to co out from their bathroom. A fresh wave of nervousness washed over her as she looked over herself in the mirror once more.
It wasn't as though she thought of herself as an ugly woman, but she was concerned about how Zhang Jiren would react once he saw her. She took a deep breath, her c.h.e.s.t expanding as she tried to calm her nerves.
She decided to check on her daughter in the other room, her hands reaching out to Leyan as the little girl raised her arms, begging to be taken out of her crib.
"Hey there, honey. Why are you still awake?" Li ili murmured as she pulled her child to her c.h.e.s.t. "You are getting heavy, huh, Leyan?"
Zhang Leyan was over one year old now and was able to walk on her own without anyone's assistance. Her dark hair almost reaching her shoulders was tied in side ponytails, keeping it out of her chubby, cute face.
The child cooed in response, her fingers touching the side of Li ili's cheek as her round eyes bored on her mother's familiar face. Li ili's eyes revealed her worry. Should the surgery fail, she feared that she and Leyan wouldn't be able to accept losing Zhang Jiren in their lives.
"You look lovely." Zhang Jiren's voice reached her ears.
Li ili turned around, surprised at the sudden presence that joined them in the nursery room. Her eyes found her husband leaning against the door fra, his body clad in a suit perfectly fitted to him. A slight smile graced his handso face.
"Are you ready?" His eyes took in her appearance and Li ili tried to suppress a blush spreading on her face.
"You keep surprising ," she grumbled under her breath.
"I didn't an to startle you. Do you need help tucking Leyan to bed?" Zhang Jiren asked.
"It's not sothing I couldn't do on my own." She pouted at him. "Give so ti and Leyan should be asleep soon."
Li ili didn't wait too long and Leyan fell asleep peacefully. She gave her daughter one last kiss before she slipped out of the room, making sure not to make a sound.
When she went down the stairs, she found Zhang Jiren talking to the old woman who was to look after their young daughter.
"Hello, Elder Lan. Thank you for doing this for us. Are you sure you will be alright looking after Leyan?" Li ili asked her.
Elder Lan didn't usually stay at their villa too late unless she needed to.
"Don't worry about and Young Miss. You and Master Jiren haven't had a ti on your own in a while. Please enjoy your night." The old woman gave Li ili a teasing wink.
Li ili looked away but didn't say anything in response. She allowed her husband to lead her outside, allowing him to open the door of the passenger seat for her. Once she was seated and safely buckled, Zhang Jiren glanced at her.
"It's not too late to back away from this, ili," he teased her.
She huffed, a little annoyed with him, refusing to spare him a look. He was probably aware that she was nervous and was teasing her for it.
Zhang Jiren leaned forward, taking her hand which caught Li ili off guard. Her eyes widened in shock, not knowing what he was up to this ti.
He placed her palm over his c.h.e.s.t and smiled at her.
"Can you feel it, ili? I assure you, you aren't the only one who's feeling nervous right now," he told her. "I want to make this night perfect for you."
