Su Jingyi found herself seated across Yun Zhen and Mo Qianfan while her younger brother was grinning like a fool on her right side. She pursed her lips and threw him a scolding look, reminding him to behave as they have guests to entertain.
Mother Su served the ho cooked dishes one after another and Yun Zhen looked at them in awe. He couldn't rember when was the last ti he had eaten dinner with a family mber, considering his only brother, Yun Ling, was assigned to Beijing and they rarely saw each other unless it was related at work.
"Please help yourselves." Mother Su looked at the two n and smiled inwardly. "It might not be as good as the dishes you frequently have, but I hope the taste is to your liking."
The spring rolls which encased shredded veggies were fried golden with a tangy dip as an appetizer. Su Jingli didn't wait for their guest and started eating along with his father.
Yun Zhen took a taste of the Hot and Spicy Soup Mother Su had given him. The spiciness and sourness of the broth sowhat teased his palate. It was made with the goodness of mushrooms, cabbage, carrot and a spicy twist of red peppers and sour with vinegar.
There was also a fiery delight of the Szechuan Chili Chicken that was loaded with pungent spices like brown pepper, red chilies and ginger. Yun Zhen knew that Su Jingyi liked spicy dishes and he finally figured out why she enjoyed having those.
anwhile, Su Jingyi silently ate her Stir Fried Tofu paired with rice. The dish was laced with flavorful spices and sauce, but she couldn't quite enjoy her al due to Yun Zhen's presence.
It was awkward to see him dining with her family. It seed as if he had been doing it for a long ti, considering how well he got along with her parents and Su Jingli.
"So Mr. Yun, you said you and our Jingyi used to work together before. What do you do now by the way?" Father Su asked, trying to strike a conversation with Yun Zhen.
Yun Zhen glanced at Su Jingyi, wondering if she hadn't bothered to tell her parents about him and with whom she was working before.
"I run a business, Sir." He said politely in response.
Mo Qingfan scoffed inwardly, mistakenly assuming that Yun Zhen was just working in a startup company that had no assurance whether to flourish in the future or not.
Looking at Yun Zhen's appearance, he didn't think that Yun Zhen had co from an outstanding family. Su Jingyi also hadn't uttered a single word towards Yun Zhen. so maybe they didn't part in a good way.
"Is your business doing well, Mr. Yun? The economy hasn't been good these days. It's good to have a plan B just in case things didn't go your way." Mo Qingfan comnted before pulling a business card from his wallet.
"Here." He passed the card to Yun Zhen. "Since you and Miss Su used to work together, I assu that you are adept in managerial and administrative tasks. Our company has so vacancies at the mont. Why don't you give it a shot?"
Su Jingyi was appalled at how arrogant Mo Qingfan was. Yun Zhen did say they used to work together. If Mo Qingfan wasn't that dumb, he should have realized by now that after she graduated, she had imdiately started working at the Yun Group.
The re ntion of Yun Zhen's family na should have been the most obvious clue to his identity, but Mo Qingfan still failed to recognize Yun Zhen and even went as far as to taunt the CEO of the Yun Group.
Su Jingli coughed loudly and patted his c.h.e.s.t upon hearing what Mo Qingfan said to Yun Zhen. He had never thought that his man could be this stupid.
Ah! The taste of revenge was so sweet!
"Ouch, Sis! You don't have to pat so hard! Do you plan to make throw up till my lungs co out and kill instead?" Su Jingli tried to avoid his sister's heavy hand by lifting his arms to block her.
Su Jingyi retreated and resud her al, acting innocent, as if she didn't try to bully her brother.
"How can you say sothing so outrageous like that, Jingli? I was just trying to help you. This big sister of yours cares about your welfare you know." She said with a tone filled with mockery.
"Jingyi, Jingli, don't forget we have guests tonight." Father Su said, instantly stopping his children from arguing in front of their guests.
"I'm sorry about that. You see, it might not be obvious, but they are really close to each other." Mother Su told Yun Zhen.
"There's nothing to apologize for, Madam. I understand. I also have a younger brother who can be a handful at tis." Yun Zhen said with a smile while Mo Qingfan frowned at being ignored by him.
Yun Zhen shifted his gaze and saw that Mo Qingfan was pissed off with him. The corner of his lips quirked up.
"Thank you for your consideration, Mr. Mo but I don't think I would ever need this." He placed the business card on the table next to Mo Qingfan.
"Why? Are you that confident that your business would do well? It's not that bad to reconsider other options, Mr. Yun." Mo Qingfan refused to back down, seeing that the Su family was getting along well with Yun Zhen right in front of him.
"That's enough, Mo Qingfan. Please do not humiliate yourself any further." Su Jingyi placed down her chopsticks and looked at Mo Qingfan straight in his eyes, looking annoyed.
Her parents must be really desperate to find a groom for her that they even considered this rude man.
