Feng Tianyi understood what Jia Yuntao was saying but he still couldn't help but feel guilty for being the cause of the old man's circ.u.mstances. If he didn't do what he did several years ago, Jia Yuntao wouldn't lose his family, as well as the life he had before.
Was Jia Yuntao truly satisfied with the kind of life he had right now? He wondered. Other people would probably bla him, curse him for the misfortune that they had to endure after what he'd done to them in the past.
But what confused him was why the old man was willing to forgive him for sothing as horrible as that. Feng Tianyi had no doubt so people despised him, blad him for their downfall, but why didn't Jia Yuntao?
What he did to the old man was sothing unforgivable and he was half expecting that Jia Yuntao would still hold a grudge against him.
Feng Tianyi hadn't got a chance to question the old man as the lunch service for the patrons had started. Along with Tang Moyu's help, they served the dishes, one after another, until they finished giving everyone their als.
As the patrons happily ate their als and conversed with each other, Feng Tianyi didn't stop feeling amazed that his wife and Lu Tianxin were able to help these people at the lowest point of their lives.
Just like others, he thought that these holess people would make trouble for them, but they didn't. He was quite ashad that he had stereotyped them without much information. Feng Tianyi had a short talk with so of them earlier, and most of them were polite and kind, so different from what he expected to see and et.
These people were just like him and Tang Moyu before. They encountered a roadblock and needed a push to keep going, and that was exactly what both Tang Moyu and Lu Tianxin were doing.
The volunteers finally had the chance to take a short break and get their own lunches after the serving was done. As Madam Ning left the couple, along with Jia Yuntao, in a private corner to get their als, Feng Tianyi lowered his head and talked to the man about the offence he committed before, as the devil.
"I have never thought about how my actions would affect the lives and the future of the people I dealt with before. I admit that I was very selfish back then, unreasonable on top of that. Mr. Jia, I know my apology would never be able to change what happened to you, but allow to say sorry for all the horrible things I've done to you in the past." He told Jia Yuntao.
Feng Tianyi could still rember the day he last saw the old man. After Jia Yuntao lost everything, the older man tried to assault him, but failed. Feng Tianyi asked his n to drag him away and throw him out of the company building.
As Jia Yuntao was being dragged away from the office, he spouted curses to the devil, and at that ti, Feng Tianyi only took it as empty threats. It wasn't the first ti he heard soone cursed him to the heavens. In fact, as far as he could rember it was his own father who cursed at him for the first ti in his life.
Now, the very sa man who cursed him after his failure was conversing animatedly with Tang Moyu. Never in his life did Feng Tianyi ever imagine that this would happen after his last eting with Jia Yuntao. He understood how horrible a person he was before and how many people's lives and future prospects he'd ruin because of his selfishness.
Tang Moyu was moved by her husband's effort to seek forgiveness. She knew it wasn't easy for Feng Tianyi to admit his mistakes, but he made it clear to her that he didn't want the person that he was before and wanted to beco a better person for her and for their children's sake.
Jia Yuntao placed down the tea kettle in his hand after pouring himself and Tang Moyu a cup of tea.
"Feng Tianyi, you've done a great deal for ." He started. "In fact, I'm grateful that you took the company from . I would have never learned the lessons I did if you didn't push to the corner."
He then pushed the cup towards the empress. The latter responded with a thanks.
"My wife left because she didn't want to be with a man who couldn't sustain her needs. Thankfully, the trust fund I set for our son was able to support him to continue his education. Right now, I feel fulfilled and have more purpose than I did before, but if you insist to get my forgiveness…"
He then eyed Tang Moyu and saw the ring on her finger. The corner of his lips turned up. Jia Yuntao then realized what made the devil turn over a new leaf.
"Then rest assured that I have already forgiven you. You don't have to bla yourself for the choices I made after our deal was broken. It was who overestimated myself back then. Just don't repeat the sa mistake again." Jia Yuntao held out a hand towards Feng Tianyi and smiled.
Feng Tianyi didn't move for a mont and only stared at the other man with a conflicted expression. Eventually, he took a deep breath and shook hands with the older man.
"Thank you, Mr. Jia. You don't know how much this ans to ." Feng Tianyi said, a little relieved that the old man was able to forgive him for his past mistakes. This conversation he had with Jia Yuntao ant a lot to him.
Tang Moyu saw Madam Ning having trouble preparing their als in the kitchen and got to her feet to help the older woman.
"I'll go and help her." She told her husband and left at once.
Feng Tianyi stared blankly at his plate and said nothing.
