Book 6: Chapter 97: Confrontation

“Wait… wait a mont!”

Just as the tension between the two sides peaked, an untily voice interrupted them.

Having played the passive observer until now, the Thoughtless Deity Lord could no longer hold back. She leapt forward and pointed at Lilith, shouting, “Would soone please explain to this old woman what is going on?! And that’s the Dragon Eater, isn’t it? Why is she here?!”

The Dragon Queen cast her a cold glance but said nothing.

Gerald growled, “Stay out of this, Thoughtless Deity Lord.”

The Thoughtless Deity Lord fell silent.

She was mad. Livid!

She was one of the five deity lords of the Great World. How dare they treat her like this!

Everyone in the Great World bowed to her in reverence, but now…

She could still understand being ignored by the Dragon Queen—no one dared to boss her around since nine million years ago.

But Gerald…?

She looked in his direction. Under Gerald’s control, Lilith’s gaze turned toward the Thoughless Deity Lord too.

Black flas flickered to life around her body, devouring two nearby stars in the blink of an eye.

*S̲h̲i̲t̲… that’s really a Dragon Eater.*

*I can’t afford to provoke her.*

“Ahem.” The Thoughtless Deity Lord cleared her throat. “It’s rare for family to reunite. I’ll leave you two to talk it out. Now, if you’ll excuse …”

“Wait,” the Dragon Queen suddenly called out to her. “If you’re going to leave, take this with you.”

With a wave of her sleeve, an azure planet appeared in her palm.

It was the dragons’ ancestral holand. After Lilith arrived, she had sohow absorbed the entire planet into her sleeve.

Now, it sat quietly in the Dragon Queen’s hand, shrunken to the size of a marble.

“You’re entrusting that to ?” The Thoughtless Deity Lord scoffed. “Don’t forget, we’re still enemies. You’d trust with your ancestral land?”

“Of course.” The Dragon Queen looked at her seriously.

“If anything happens to my ancestral land, I’ll slaughter your entire family.” She paused before emphasizing every word, “Every. Last. One. Of. Them.”

“You—!” The Thoughtless Deity Lord’s face twitched. She nearly erupted, but then she rembered this was the ruler who had once reigned supre nine million years ago.

If she said she’d slaughter soone’s family, she would. If she emphasized that not a single soul would be spared, then she ant it.

And worst of all… she couldn’t beat the Dragon Queen.

“…Fine.” Through clenched teeth, the Thoughtless Deity Lord growled, “I accept your request!”

With that, her wide sleeves billowed suddenly, swallowing the azure planet whole.

Without a single glance back, the Thoughtless Deity Lord exited the formation through the gap in the formation that the Dragon Queen had deliberately left open.

Once outside, she stared at the distant starlight that sohow seed more dazzling than before. And for the first ti since ascending to the status of a deity lord, she felt tears prick her eyes.

*Damn it, where the hell are Sky Ruins, Infinite Trials, and the rest of those old fossls… Why aren’t they here yet?*

*How could they leave here alone… with the Dragon Queen and a fully awakened Dragon Eater.*

*Just what the hell am I supposed to do?!*

*I’m so done with this job!*

With a wave of her hand, she signaled her subordinates to retreat as quickly as they could.

As for herself, she picked the best spot she could find—a nice, stable vantage point far from danger—and settled in to watch the rest of the drama.

How the Dragon Queen managed to repel a Dragon Eater single-handedly nine million years ago remained one of the universe’s greatest mysteries.

And today, she finally got a front-row seat to find out the truth.

“Alright, the pest is gone. Now, it’s ti for both of you to put on a show.” Gerald smiled cruelly as he issued another command.

“Kill her, Lilith.”

Black flas suddenly ignited from Lilith’s fingertips. Guided by her will, the inferno spread like a wildfire through a winter forest.

It devoured a vast segnt of the formation that Gerald had failed to breach with all his might, leaving behind a gaping hole in just the blink of an eye.

But Gerald made no move to flee. He wanted to watch Regalis, that wretched b̲i̲t̲c̲h̲, get beaten down to hell by her own daughter up close.

Oh, what a satisfying sight that would be.

“I truly wish I didn’t have to fight you, Lilith.”

The Dragon Queen lowered her eyes, concealing the emotions in her dignified eyes.

In that mont, she looked less like a queen and more like a mother—quietly resigned in the face of her unruly daughter.

“But isn’t that a mother’s duty to ensure her child’s happiness…?”

She raised her head, and the glow of her golden pupils blazed so intensely that even the sun seed dim by comparison.

“…Even if it hurts!”

She stepped forward.

Azure flas burst forth, surging skyward like a tide, engulfing the void.

Dragon Queen Regalis. Few knew her true na.

Blazing Sky! The dragon who scorched the heavens!

From the mont of her birth, azure fire had clung to her. They were fierce, unrelenting—so much so that even dragons of the divine realm had to intervene to suppress them.

Even after the Dragon Queen proved her might through bloodshed and single-handedly defeated the world’s strongest, not many knew about her flas.

That was because she never once wielded them in battle.

To her, these innate flas were shackles that would only drag her down.

She simply let them simr within her, but largely ignored their existence.

She only ever used them to burn away filth too beneath her to touch.

She never unleashed it, and as her cultivation realm advanced, the azure fla gradually built up inside her, until it beca a burden.

In that mont, the Dragon Queen released the fla within her body, and all who bore witness could hear the unmistakable sound of shackles falling to the ground.

It was as though so monstrous existence had finally regained its freedom.

The Dragon Queen stretched her limbs. Even that simple motion exerted pressure on the void around her.

Space cracked inch by inch beneath the strain. Yet the suction from the fragnted cosmos ant nothing to her.

Not even a strand of her hair moved.

She looked up at the incoming black tide, and for a fleeting mont, she felt as though she had gone back in ti.

Nine million years ago, she had stood before this black tide just like this. It had pushed her to desperation.

Though she had repelled her opponent then, it had cost her dearly.

Her hand never fully healed.

Her strength had waned since those days, but Lilith…

How much power had the awakened Dragon Eater truly reclaid?

Despite all his years studying Dragon Eaters, Gerald had never fought one. That was why he never understood…

That even Dragon Eaters were not born invincible!
