Even If I’m Reborn as a Cute Dragon Girl, I Will Still Make a Harem Book 6: Chapter 10: Appear
Behind Mount Coffin, where Lilith and Erica were hiding…
The two were spamming healing scrolls, though they were wasting much of the scrolls’ potency by using them too quickly. The healing effect on Lilith’s limbs was noticeably improving, though the progress was slow.
“I guess the dragons are impressive after all. We’ve used so many healing scrolls yet you’re still not fully recovered,” Erica remarked, her face pale from exertion.
As a healer, Erica knew all too well that the healing scrolls Lilith had used up were enough to drain her magic power reserves a hundred tis. Yet, Lilith had only regained her wrists and ankles.
“Just keep working on it… we’re almost there.”
With each bit of recovery, Lilith’s mood improved. Although there was still no chance of defeating Three, she preferred to die with her body intact.
Of course, if she did die like this, her remains would probably end up in a museum thousands of years from now.
People would point at her fossil and say, “Look, everyone, this is the famous limbless Lilith. This fossil proves that people didn’t have limbs a hundred million years ago, and they crawled on the ground with their chests. That’s why their chests were as flat as mirrors…”
Hahahahaha, what a la joke.
“What’s on your mind, Lilith? You seem so happy all of a sudden,” Erica asked curiously.
“Nothing, just thought of sothing funny.”
“What’s so funny? I want to hear it too.”
“Geez, it’s really nothing, just sothing that amused .”
“Darn it, you’re not letting in on the joke. How an.”
Erica puffed out her cheeks and moved closer, attempting to tickle Lilith.
“Wait… what are you doing… at a ti like this…! Hahaha…!”
“Hehehe, it’s exactly because this is when Lilith is the most powerless. In fact, I’ve wanted to do this for a while. Who told you to always ss with before? Take this! And this!”
“Pfft… hahaha, stop it… we need to focus!”
“I’m not-…”
Erica was about to take advantage of the situation to teach Lilith a good lesson when she suddenly noticed the girl, pinned under her, staring off into space.
“W-What’s… wrong?”
Erica thought she had hurt Lilith and was about to apologize when she noticed the girl suddenly sit up and stare blankly in the direction where Three was fighting the strange snake.
“Is there anything to see over there?”
Erica cautiously poked her head out from behind a rock.
“Huh? That snake monster doesn’t seem to be able to beat its opponent. It keeps getting abused. What should we do, Lilith? If the snake monster loses, we’ll be up against her.”
Erica anxiously glanced at Lilith.
“I… have to save her,” Lilith mumbled, as if lost in thought.
“What… what? What did you say?” Erica asked, thinking she must have misheard.
“I’m going to save her.”
This ti, Erica heard her clearly. But before she could react, Lilith launched herself in that direction, as though she had been possessed.
But since her palms and feet hadn’t fully grown back yet, Lilith stumbled and fell into the rocks.
“Wait, Lilith, what are you talking about? In your current condition-…”
“No, I have to save her,” Lilith interrupted her, stubbornly trying to push herself up despite the dirt staining her beautiful cheeks. Even if she couldn’t stand in her current condition, she continued crawling on the ground.
“W-Why?” Erica shouted, pouncing on Lilith and pulling her hands to stop her from doing what was no different from throwing herself into certain death.
“I know that you’re grateful to that snake monster for saving us, and I’m grateful too, but aren’t you failing her completely by going over there and getting yourself killed? Lilith, you’re clearly not the type of person to throw your life away. So why would you do sothing so foolish?”
“I don’t know…”
“Eh? You don’t know…? What do you an?”
“I just don’t know…”
Lilith slowly turned her head back, and that was when Erica saw the sadness in her eyes.
“That snake… I don’t recognize her, but I don’t know why I feel so sad when I see her on the verge of dying in front of …”
“Sad… I’m sad too, of course. After all, she is our savior.”
“No, it’s not the sa.”
Lilith shook her head stubbornly, her eyes already slightly red.
“That kind of sadness isn’t of gratitude, self-reproach, or the pain of being powerless and weak. It’s the sadness of knowing soone important is about to leave you.”
Lilith turned her head, confusion clouding her expression as she looked in the direction of the struggle. The snake demon beast was constantly hissing and struggling under Three’s relentless attack.
Its body was covered in injuries and in so places, bones were exposed and blood splattered everywhere. The lake had already turned a deep shade of red. It was clear—she was about to die.
“I don’t know her. I have no mory of her. But as soon as I think about the possibility that she might die, my heart… it hurts so much. The pain is suffocating .”
“Why would your heart ache over soone you don’t even know…?”
“I don’t know… I don’t know!”
Lilith clutched her head in frustration.
“I have no mory of her, nothing at all! But my heart hurts so much I can’t breathe. This feeling… this feeling is like my body rembers her, even though my mind has completely forgotten.”
“Since you can’t rember her then don’t try to anymore!”
Lilith was suddenly enveloped in warmth. She lifted her head in confusion, her gaze landing on a hazy figure that was slowly embracing her.
Erica had scurried away like a rabbit in fear. Her face was deathly pale as she kept chanting, “Ghost! A ghost!”
“You’re…” Lilith didn’t think the figure was a ghost, nor was she afraid. Despite the difficulty in seeing the figure’s face, there was sothing strangely familiar about this presence, sothing she couldn’t quite place.
“Sorry I’m late, Lilith…”
“Eh? Why are you apologizing? I…”
The figure suddenly pressed a finger to Lilith’s lips.
“It’s better for you to not say things like you don’t recognize right now. Even though I know it’s true, it still hurts my heart.”
The figure leaned her head on Lilith’s shoulder, breathing in the scent that was uniquely hers, savoring it like it was the air she had been starving for.
“It’s been another thousand years, how have you been?”
“Do you still believe that the queen of dragons is the one who loves you most?”
“Do you rember who I am? How about Greenie?”
“I…”
“No, don’t answer that because I already know all the answers.”
The hazy face smiled.
She then turned her gaze to the serpentine monster being rcilessly trampled by Three. Remorse filled her eyes as tears welled up.
“I’m sorry, Greenie. If only I had arrived sooner. But… my body had been asleep for so long, it took ti to awaken. Hold on a little longer. I’ll be right there to help you.”
