“W-Well…This…”

Tadashi pulled out a crumpled paper bag from the collar of his shirt. After opening it, he revealed…

Two buns?

Luna curiously picked up one using just two fingers. It was clear that Tadashi had tried his best to keep the bun warm in his arms for as long as he could; it was cold to the touch but still retained a hint of his body warmth.

“This is…”

“A return gift for the food thou treated Us to yesterday,” Tadashi mumbled.

Ah, that.

At the ti, she’d only intended it as a kind gesture; she hadn’t expected him to return the favor.

Luna raised her eyebrows and asked, “So? Where did you get the money to buy these?”

“Art thou suggesting We resorted to petty theft?”

Tadashi jumped up indignantly, like a cat whose tail had just been stepped on.

“We can still afford two buns!”

“Oh, is that so? But these two buns aren’t even worth that steak of mine,” Luna remarked with a chuckle.

She sniffed them and continued. “On top of that, they’re only filled with vegetables.”

“We… We’ve been a little short on money lately. Once Our finances are in order, We’ll definitely treat thou to ten grilled steaks,” Tadashi replied, looking down.

“Oh, forget it. Keep this for yourself; I’m not hungry,” Luna said as she pushed the buns back into Tadashi’s arms.

Despite believing herself to be a cold-hearted person, Luna would still feel guilty for eating all of soone’s hard-earned assets in a single bite.

The rejection got Tadashi suddenly lifting his head, his expression one of outrage and his eyes red as if he felt personally insulted.

“Thou art looking down on Us!” he accused.

“I’m not.”

“Lies!”

“You bought these two buns. Eat them yourself!”

“We gave them to thee!”

Luna sighed in exasperation.

Why didn’t I notice how stubborn this kid was last night?

“What are you going to eat if you gave these buns?”

“Not thy problem to worry about. We will think of a way,” Tadashi replied stubbornly, turning his head to the side.

“I’m not going to take them until you tell .”

Luna grabbed his shoulders, forcing him to look directly into her eyes.

Tadashi bit his lip silently, his expression one of inner turmoil.

Rumble~

His stomach growled involuntarily again.

Luna smiled as she said, “I’m not in a hurry; I can wait for your answer.”

“Ugh…”

Tadashi glanced at Luna, then quickly averted his gaze. He repeated several tis, stealing a quick look before turning away again.

“Um…”

After a few more attempts, Tadashi finally gathered his courage. The blush on his cheeks crept up to his ears as he spoke in a voice barely above a whisper, “Can thou… lend Us so… food?”

“Huh?”

Luna thought she had misheard him.

“What did you say?” she asked again.

Tadashi’s voice grew slightly louder as he repeated, “Can thou… lend Us so food? We promise We’ll pay thou back.”

Luna heard him clearly this ti and was montarily stunned.

So, this is this stubborn boy’s way of dealing with the situation?

He wouldn’t allow her to refuse his return gift, yet he’s asking her to lend him food?

His action was no different than taking off his pants to fart—completely unnecessary.

If he didn’t return the favor, he wouldn’t have lost a al.

Did he not realize that the value of that steak was sothing a small beggar like him might never be able to repay in his lifeti?

Luna wanted to say all of that.

But then she caught a glimpse of the struggle and timidness in his eyes.

How much courage did it take for him to ask her to lend him food?

“F-Forget it…”

Thinking she would refuse, Tadashi tried to turn his head away, only to be t with the delicious aroma of grilled steak wafting through the air.

Luna handed him the steak and snatched the bun from his hand.

“Eat this.”

Tadashi’s eyes lit up, and he smiled at her, revealing his dimples.

“Thank you! We will definitely pay thou back.”

“You don’t have to, it’s no big deal,” Luna said.

And besides, I’ll probably be leaving here soon.

“We will definitely pay thou back,” Tadashi insisted.

He then began to eat voraciously, while Luna picked up another bun from the paper bag.

She felt a twinge of disgust.

To be honest, Luna had never eaten buns in her life.

The thought of consuming these, obviously made in the morning and now stale and flattened, was far from appealing.

They looked completely unappetizing.

“Where did you get the money to buy these buns?” Luna repeated the question, but with a different tone this ti.

Tadashi, who had been savoring his al, suddenly jolted and visibly froze.

Luna narrowed her eyes slightly. Before Tadashi could say anything, she demanded with a hint of authority, “Tell the truth, or I might let you experience how it feels to be grilled like a piece of steak.”

Tadashi shivered for a mont but then pretended to be nonchalant. “We… We just recycled so waste, that’s it.”

“Waste?”

Luna was montarily confused, but realization soon dawned upon her.

“You… sold your castle?”

“Haha, what castle? Just a few stacks of cardboard. You haven’t recovered from your Eighth Grade Syndro, huh?” he teased.

“……”

Luna’s cheeks twitched, and she struggled to find a response.

But it seems like… I have no choice but to eat this bun.

Forget it; I’ll just consider this the consequence of ddling in other people’s affairs.

Luna picked up one of the buns and steeled herself before taking a bite.

The first thing she noticed was the cold, bland white flour, followed by so sweet vegetables and thick fat.

Contrary to her expectations, this bun wasn’t as hard to swallow as she’d feared.

While it lacked richness in flavor, the taste of the vegetables was simple and devoid of the “artificial” taste that Luna usually detested.

“How is it? Delicious, right?” Tadashi asked, his eyes sparkling with anticipation.

“It’s… pretty delicious,” Luna admitted, surprising even herself.

Luna wanted to say it was all right, but when the words reached her lips, she didn’t know why they turned into “delicious”.

“YAY!” Tadashi was so excited he nearly jumped up. “We knew thou wouldn’t hate the taste of these buns!”

“Why?” Luna asked curiously.

“Because the fillings are all made from vegetables the seller grew himself,” Tadashi replied proudly.

“We even helped that person carry the fertilizers, so he sold Us the buns for fifty cents instead of a dollar. This bun has a cent of Ours in it!”

“Is that so?” Luna replied softly, swallowing the bun in a few quick bites.

Tadashi watched her eating the buns, as he happily gnawed on his steak.

After finishing, Luna suddenly felt a bit thirsty.

“I’ll go to the restroom.”

She walked to the self-service drinking water fountain in the park, twisted the tap, and water poured out.

Taking a small sip, Luna frowned at the strange taste that she couldn’t quite identify.

As expected, she still couldn’t adapt to this world. She glanced around to ensure no one was watching and casually perford a basic water ball spell.

She then heated it up, distilled it, and cooled it.

Luna watched as pure distilled water floated in the air before her.

She nodded approvingly before drinking all of it without hesitation.
