Ch.31 It’s Just That We’re eting Alone Late at Night

“Follow .”

Nephert, who called , headed towards a secluded place with dense bushes.

“What? Why are you doing this?”

The moonlight was also obscured by clouds, making it dark. As we went deeper into the increasingly eerie place, I swallowed hard inside.

-Gulp.

No matter how you look at it, we haven’t known each other that long. A grown man and woman heading to a secluded place.

My heart beat a little faster.

Frankly, I’ve seen Leah since she was a tomboy, so I don’t see her as a woman, but Nephert was a bit different.

A mature adult woman.

Get a hold of yourself! She has a fiancé! This isn’t right.

Without realizing it, I briefly thought again that I must be great to have chard the opposite sex.

Suddenly, Nephert’s footsteps stopped.

It’s my chance. I quickly opened my mouth.

“Nephert. No matter how much we are adults……”

“I have a request. Please leave Nekhuf’s house.”

At Nephert’s completely unexpected words, I speak naturally as if I never had any ulterior motives.

“I will leave. In about three days?”

Yeah. Nephert must have been worried.

It’s understandable since her fiancé, Nekhuf, saw us travelers and grew even more longing for travel.

I really thought that, looking up at the sky.

I really had not a single ulterior motive.

But Nephert glared at

with cold eyes, applying silent pressure.

“Leave right now.”

Anyone seeing this would mistake her expression for

threatening her.

“Really? We’re comfortable here? Besides, we’re leaving in three days, no, two days?”

It’s not like I put wanderlust into Nekhuf, so I can’t be happy with this treatnt.

It’s like Nephert is a mother who disapproves of her child playing with a bad friend?

I’m not a bad friend, and Nekhuf isn’t a young child.

Perhaps disliking my attitude, Nephert even crossed her arms and spoke.

“It’s not your house, is it? Since Nekhuf was so considerate……”

“You’re not the hoowner either, are you?”

“Ugh……”

“I’m staying because Nekhuf asked

to. You know that too, so you called

out to this secluded place to ask

to leave, right?”

Probably, Nephert doesn’t want to show this side of herself to Nekhuf.

If she were truly aboveboard with Nekhuf, there would be no need to call

out to a place like this.

Finally, as if realizing she was the weaker party in this relationship with , she closed her eyes slightly with a resigned expression and spoke.

“Sigh…… There’s a cheap, good inn nearby. I’ll pay for the lodging. Could you please leave, even if it’s tomorrow?”

“But I’ve already unpacked? I said we’re leaving in two days.”

To be honest, it’s not that I don’t understand Nephert’s worry.

A blind man longing for adventure.

Common sense says if you truly care about soone, you’d try to stop them no matter what.

But Nekhuf is not an ordinary existence.

Because his destiny will lead him to adventure.

Of course, I can’t tell her this.

Even if I did, she wouldn’t believe

anyway.

“Please. Don’t fill Nekhuf’s head with any more nonsense.”

Looking at Nephert bowing her head and begging , I spoke as if sighing.

“Are you worried because Nekhuf wants to go traveling?”

Seeing Nephert nod weakly at my words made

feel uncomfortable.

Nekhuf is not a child who needs to be overprotected.

How should I put it……

Actually, since Nekhuf’s skills aren’t bad, I briefly considered taking him with us if the opportunity arose.

Even though he’s blind, we’d mostly be traveling by carriage, and even if it’s dangerous, Leah and I are here.

Even if a dragon appeared, it wouldn’t be that dangerous.

He shows so immature aspects, but I can cover for him. I can even help him beco stronger.

As I made a thoughtful expression, Nephert, who had quietly raised her head, asked softly.

“Are you going to leave?”

“No.”

I firmly refused and moved to leave.

“Why? I even found you a place to stay?”

Then Nephert urgently blocked my path.

“Moving my luggage is botherso.”

Honestly, more than it being botherso, I’m more annoyed at being called out and bothered late at night.

Especially for sothing that’s not a big deal.

I moved my footsteps to the side, avoiding Nephert who was glaring at .

“Ah, co on! Let’s talk, please!”

“Talk about what? More importantly, aren’t you going to let go?”

Nephert grabbed my sleeve.

I was afraid it might look like I’m a bad guy abandoning Nephert if soone saw.

Thinking that if Leah saw this scene, I wouldn’t get away unscathed, I quickly shook off Nephert’s arm.

“Planta! Bind that guy’s legs!”

-Whoosh!

“Yak?!”

Vines rapidly grew from the bushes andbound my legs.

A plant spirit, different from the existing 5 great spirits.

A spirit newly added with the opening of the New Continent.

“Where do you think you’re going?”

As I fell in an ugly manner, vines from who knows where tied up my legs.

Soon, annoyed by the vines dangling

in mid-air, I glared at Nephert.

“What are you doing? Untie

now!”

“I said let’s talk! Let’s have a quiet conversation.”

“Does this look like a conversation to you?! People of the village! Wake up and see this!”

“Ah, really! Planta, try blocking that guy’s mouth!”

“Nekhuf’s fiancée! Uek!”

As I raised my voice loudly, Nephert used the spirit to block my mouth.

Why did I end up in this situation?

Is it Nephert’s fault for calling

out late at night for no reason? Or is it my fault for foolishly coming out?

While pondering in my head, thinking I just want to go to sleep soon, I created a Fire Arrow and cut the vines.

-Thud.

“Really. Are you done joking around? I’m leaving.”

“Wait, Gno! Make that guy unable to move!”

An earth spirit jumped out and turned the ground into a swamp.

I applied holy magic to my body and quickly escaped.

“Ah! Really, why are you doing this?”

“Gno! Planta! Make that guy unable to move.”

Seeing the spirits obeying her words, I hurriedly ran away.

The spirits tried to bind , but the buffs I had applied were Saint-tier buffs.

I’m not soone to be caught by such low-level spirits.

“Aight! Let’s talk, pleeaase!”

Nephert’s scream was heard from far away, but I quickly entered Nekhuf’s house.

“Phew…… She’s really making

exert energy over nothing.”

As I let out a sigh of relief like that.

A presence was felt from sowhere.

“Huh? Master, where did you go?”

“I don’t know. I went to talk to so crazy Sand Elf. I need to get so sleep now.”

Saying that, I headed to my room.

The next morning.

“Hmph!”

Nephert, who ca early to make breakfast, glanced at

glare and disappeared into the kitchen.

Seeing that she can’t say anything because Nekhuf is here.

Chewing her out inwardly, I sat on the sofa, and just then Nekhuf opened the door and entered the living room.

“Huh? I definitely heard the sounds of Brother Hans and Nephert?”

“Ah, I’m here.”

As I waved and spoke to Nekhuf, he turned his head towards .

“Ah, right! Brother, where did you go last night?”

I playfully answered Nekhuf, who spoke with his eyes closed, as if asking if he was curious.

“Nekhuf, are you curious?”

At that mont.

“Nekhuf~ Did you sleep well?”

Nephert ca out of the kitchen precisely and glared at

with a murderous look in her eyes, contrary to her cheerful greeting.

A look that said if I talked, she would kill .

“About why I went out last night.”

At that mont, Leah ca out into the living room, rubbing her eyes with Pipi on her head.

“Uum…… Everyone’s up early?”

In that instant, Nephert quickly changed the subject.

“Ah, that’s right! The uncle next door gave us bananas. You wouldn’t believe how good they sll.”

Saying that, she changed the topic and led Nekhuf towards the kitchen.

“Master. Did sothing happen?”

Leah looked at Nephert strangely with slightly drowsy eyes.

I sighed and said to her.

“No, nothing happened.”

After answering, I went to the kitchen; Nephert was peeling a banana and handing it to Nekhuf.

Soon, she was watching Nekhuf eat the banana happily. That face, pretending nothing happened, seed sohow detestable.

***

As always, Nekhuf and Nephert went out for training.

Only Pipi, Leah, and I were left at ho.

No, but what if we steal sothing? Why is she so carefree?

Thinking that, I watched Pipi and Leah.

“Pipi. Hand! Hand!”

At Leah’s words, Pipi tilted its head.

Pipi is a baby phoenix, not a puppy. Just because you ask for its hand, it won’t give you its hand……

-Pip?

Huh? Pipi placed its wing on Leah’s hand……

“Waaa! Good job, Pipi.”

Leah praised it greatly and gave Pipi a jujube date.

-Pip! Pip!

It eats deliciously.

Looking at the plump Pipi, I said to Leah.

“It seems fatter than when I saw it before?”

“Huh?! Master, did I gain weight?”

Leah was startled and jumped up from her seat, examining her arms and legs.

“Not you. I an Pipi.”

It was definitely plump before too. But now, should I say it feels swollen?

Maybe it’s because it’s on Leah’s head every day, not getting enough exercise. I looked intently at Pipi.

-Pip?

Pipi tilted its head looking at .

As I poked Pipi’s body,

-Pip!

Pipi cried as if tickled. That appearance felt very cute.

-Pip pip~

It pushed my finger with its wing and chirped.

It looked at

with pure eyes, as if telling

to stop because it was ticklish.

“Cute, right?”

“It is. So cute, right? But doesn’t it seem a bit bigger?”

Maybe because so ti has passed since it hatched?

When I first saw it, it was very small, but now it felt a bit bigger than then.

“It must be because it’s a baby. Maybe it’s growing quickly?”

Hmm…… In the ga, it beca an adult after a certain amount of ti passed.

“Is that so?”

Therefore, I don’t know about any interdiate stages in the ga.

There weren’t any originally.

It’s really fascinating. Did the ga beco reality?

As I was lost in such thoughts.

“Master, there’s sothing I’m curious about.”

She asked .

What is it? I tried to look at Leah’s face, but she was bowing her head, only stroking Pipi, so I couldn’t check her expression.

She seed angry but also not, I felt a slight cold sweat running down my back.

An intuition flashed that if I said the wrong thing here, sothing big might happen.

“What is it?”

I forced myself to open my mouth, pretending to be nonchalant.

Leah was silent for a mont, then slowly turned her head and looked at .

Her purple eyes gazed at

quietly, as if trying to see inside .

“You t Nephert last night, right?”

How did she know?

My mind started racing rapidly for a short mont.

I don’t know how she found out, but it was right to confess quickly.

“Yes. I did.”

As I nodded in affirmation, Leah continued to stroke Pipi and spoke.

“May I ask why you t?”

Leah slowly turned her head and stared at .

I explained to her in a bit more detail.

“It was nothing. She asked us to leave Nekhuf’s house.”

To Leah, whose face was still full of question marks, I explained a bit more.

“Probably because Nekhuf wants to go on an adventure. Our presence seems to make her unnecessarily worried.”

Only then did Leah make an expression as if she understood why Nephert t

late at night and let out a sigh of relief.

“So that’s what it was.”

Leah’s expression softened, and she scratched her reddened cheek as if embarrassed, trying hard to speak nonchalantly with a slightly shy expression.

“Ah…… I would have been worried too. Probably because he’s blind.”

It was obvious she had suspected sothing between

and Nephert, but thinking that pointing it out openly might make Leah’s face explode, I spoke to her indirectly.

“What? That’s suspicious? Did you suspect

and Nephert?”

My words seed to hit the mark; Leah turned her head away.

“Th… that’s not it? It’s just that you two were eting alone late at night…… Tch! Whatever.”

Saying that, Leah stroked Pipi.

Is it my imagination that her ears look especially red today?
