Ch.183 So What? We Can Just Think of It as a New Beginning
Selena sat up in bed and looked at .
“Why did you co here?”
It wasn’t Selena’s beautiful voice that I had always known, but the voice of a young child.
“Shh, the kids are sleeping, right? Let’s talk outside.”
She nodded slightly and got out of bed.
Selena ca out of the room on her short legs.
As she sat on the living room sofa, she asked.
“So, why did you co here?”
I answered Selena, who was looking at
with cold red eyes.
“To ask you to expel Roy’s soul.”
“I won’t do that. All the Seal Stones are broken. The absurd world is about to end, do you really think I would?”
She was full of sarcasm and mockery.
“You are being deceived.”
Selena shook her head with a crazed expression.
“No! It’s you who is being deceived by the false gods. How can you say that after seeing this situation?”
“What?”
—Crash!
At that mont, the orphanage door shattered and heavily ard soldiers stord inside.
“Kill all the Church of Death followers!”
At a man’s shout, the soldiers began ransacking the house.
“This is?”
“They can’t see us. Because this is a mory from my past. You take a look. See how disgusting those who follow the false gods are.”
At her words, I turned my head.
“Found them!”
“You, you people?!”
—Thud!
A soldier’s spear pierced through the nun’s body.
“Die! You crazy bitch following an evil god!”
“Ahh…….”
The nun collapsed, letting out a short death rattle.
—Kyaaak!
“Kill them all! Those brats are also seeds of evil!”
Hearing the children’s screams, I headed towards the room, where a horrific scene of slaughter unfolded.
—Save !
—It hurts! It hurts!
“You little brat!”
Then Davinus picked up a chair and hit the soldier’s back.
—Crunch!
A chair made of wood couldn’t possibly deliver a proper impact against plate armor.
“You bastard!”
He thrust his spear, but Davinus rolled out of the way.
Davinus’s eyes t Selena’s, who was trembling in the corner.
“Huh?”
It was then.
“How is it? My past mory?”
The adult Selena approached .
“Is that child the past you?”
While the adult Selena and I were talking, Davinus grabbed the young Selena’s hand.
“Selena! Over here!”
Davinus picked up a candlestick and broke the window.
—Crash!
Davinus and Selena escaped through the broken window.
“Get them! Catch those two brats!”
The soldiers hurriedly chased them, but perhaps because of their heavy armor?
—Thud!
They imdiately slipped and fell on the snowy ground.
“Ouch……!”
As I watched the soldier groan in pain, Selena asked.
“What exactly did we do wrong to deserve that?”
At her words, I turned my head.
In front of a brown-haired girl who couldn’t have been more than ten years old, was her.
Selena closed the eyes of the girl she hadn’t even noticed.
“Lily was only ten… Why did she have to die like this? She wasn’t even a child who truly served the Church of Death.”
In her arms, a small teddy bear was soaked in blood.
“So? Even after this, is our god in the wrong? We built this orphanage and accepted children regardless of religion?”
At the resentnt in Selena’s voice, I shook my head.
“This is their fault.”
I know how crazy the Church of Death is.
Even on dieval Earth, how many massacres and tortures were carried out without any proof of witchcraft?
But here, the Church of Death is a clear force of evil.
Because they follow an insane doctrine that seeks salvation by killing all life.
They could be considered a group closer to terrorists compared to modern tis.
Dealing with such a crazy group, murder might be justifiable, but the children are different.
“Is that so? Then why are they justice? Isn’t the god who taught them to act like that an evil god?”
At her words, I shook my head.
“No, the Church of Death is wrong. It’s a religion created by a god deceiving its followers from the start.”
Selena mocks
in a disbelieving tone.
“Deception? You know the God of Death?! How dare you, when you haven’t even properly read the scriptures.”
“No, I know. An existence that cunningly deceives with the word ‘love’ to kill everyone. An existence that erases the selves of the dead, uses them, and exploits Divine Power.”
Throughout the ga, the God of Death never appears, but players can learn about the God of Death by exploring ancient ruins.
Most notably, the stone tablets in Auros’s Lair.
“No! You must have been brainwashed by the false gods!”
At her words, I shook my head.
“I’m from another world. I have nothing to do with brainwashing.”
“Shut up! The gods must have brought soone who blindly follows them.”
The conversation was at an impasse.
How should I persuade her?
I had no idea what to do, given Selena’s firm stance.
While I was pondering how to persuade her, she spoke.
“Well, this isn’t bad either.”
“What?”
She looked at
with a crazed glint in her eyes and a deep smile.
“I was planning to be with you once everything ended anyway. Until the end of everything…….”
“Huh?”
“Be with .”
“What?”
As soon as her words ended, the world, the orphanage, crumbled.
***
“Ugh…….”
“Oh? You’re awake?”
Where I woke up was on the ground in a forest.
When I turned my head, I t the eyes of a beauty with black hair and red eyes, crouching down.
Is this……?
I glanced around; it was a sowhat familiar place.
I couldn’t rember exactly where, but it felt like a place I’d been to before.
Anyway, what does she want with ?
“Did you get attacked or sothing?”
I got up from the ground and stared blankly at Selena.
Is this a first-eting act?
We were close enough to know each other’s nas and even live in the sa room.
So why is she acting like we’re eting for the first ti?
Why on earth?
We already know everything about each other, so what’s the reason for pretending to et for the first ti?
I couldn’t understand her thinking.
But should I play along for now?
“My mory is a bit hazy…… Excuse , but who are you?”
At my words, Selena frowned.
“I’m a traveler. But you say you don’t rember?”
I nodded to her, who was looking at
with suspicious eyes.
“Yes, I don’t rember well.”
I don’t know what she wants, but I went with the amnesia concept.
Since I don’t know what Selena is intending anyway.
“Well, alright. By the way, it’ll be night soon, are you going to stay here?”
“No?”
I got up.
As she said, I could see the sun slowly setting.
Oh no… Staying outdoors here?
I looked around and realized there wasn’t a single item necessary for camping.
I really have nothing but the clothes on my back?
As mories surfaced of when I first fell into this world and suffered terribly for months, my mind grew dark.
I-It’s fine! This is inside Selena’s consciousness, so it should be okay.
She likes , right? She wouldn’t make the real
suffer in her consciousness while creating a virtual
to play out a romance, would she?
“I know a place where we can stay for a day.”
“Huh?”
“I said I know a place to stay for a day. Follow .”
At her slightly commanding voice, I quickly followed her.
The place we arrived at was…….
Huh? This place?
A familiar-looking house.
Isn’t this Ethan’s house?
Ethan’s house in Zeon Village where players stay.
That’s right. This is the village where Selena and I first t.
Why here?
—Knock knock.
Selena knocked on the door.
—”Who is it?”
“We are passing travelers. Could we stay for a day or so?”
At her voice, the door opened, revealing Ethan.
“There is a room to stay…… Are there two of you?”
At his words, we nodded.
“Yes.”
“Well, that’s fine. But you’ll have to pay for both.”
At Ethan’s words, we nodded, but then a thought occurred…….
I have no money?
Then Selena took out her purse and paid.
“Huh? For two people?”
Ethan asked, counting the coins.
“Yes, that’s right.”
“I see. Please co in.”
And so we entered Ethan’s house.
We ate the dinner prepared by Ethan’s mother.
But Ethan is quiet today?
When I stayed here with Selena before.
Selena and I had a fight over the bed.
He kicked
out back then, that bastard.
I paid first and had arranged to stay, but Ethan, a bachelor, had ulterior motives towards the pretty Selena.
It’s definitely a dream.
It seems Selena didn’t think much of Ethan back then.
Well, there probably wasn’t just one or two guys like that for a beauty like her.
After eating dinner like that, I headed to the room with Selena.
The small room from my mory.
It was an empty room with just a single bed and a wardrobe.
She put down the bag she was carrying on the floor and said.
“I’ll go wash up. Ah, right. What’s your na?”
“My na?”
Selena’s gaze looked intently at .
Should I say I don’t know my na either?
It seems like she’s going with the amnesia concept anyway.
“You’re not going to say you don’t rember your na, are you?”
The atmosphere suggested she wouldn’t let it slide if I said I forgot my na too.
“It’s Hans. I have no surna.”
“Mr. Hans, don’t get on the bed first before washing up.”
She shot
a look like that and left the room.
“Shall I lie down on the bed?”
I’m not the type to not do sothing just because she told
not to.
—Plop.
I lay comfortably on the bed and lost myself in thought.
What should I do now?
I have no idea what Selena wants to do with .
It’s strange to just act like we’re eting for the first ti.
I need to expel Roy from her body as soon as possible, but that’s only possible if she wishes for it.
“It’s difficult, so difficult.”
***
Selena washed her body in Ethan’s bathroom.
Using magic, she filled the bathtub with hot water.
Soaking in the warm water, she lost herself in thought.
‘It seems his mory was completely erased…… Did I erase too much?’
Selena had been trapped in her ntal world.
Because she had handed over her body to Roy.
As she spent each day in the dream, mont by mont.
It just started feeling quite boring.
Because Selena knew this place was an illusion.
Then, Hans appeared.
Not the fake she created in the dream, but the real Hans.
Even though he said her god was false, Selena thought that once they reached the final judgnt, he would have no choice but to acknowledge it.
She wanted to take this opportunity to create new mories with Hans, who had co into her ntal world.
But if his mories were intact, they would only clash again, so she made his mind hazy, causing him to lose his mories.
Here, since Selena was a god, it was entirely possible.
‘Did I erase too much?’
Looking at Hans, who seed to be in a complete blank state, Selena beca worried.
She hadn’t intended to erase enough to cause amnesia.
She only ant to erase the mories related to the God of Death and the false gods, but it seed sothing went wrong, and most of Hans’s mories appeared to be erased.
“Well, so what. We can just think of it as a new beginning.”
She thought comfortably like that.
But…… Selena didn’t know that Hans’s main body was wearing the Arbiter’s Armor and was unaffected by her power.
