"Certainly not," Shen Xian replied, his tone dripping with scorn, as if the very idea of consuming human flesh was beneath him.
"I was under the impression that demons feast on human flesh, the at of magical beasts, and the essence of other living beings," she said, undeterred by his derision and eager to glean more insight from him.
"How repulsive! Why on earth would we ever eat humans?" His incredulity was palpable, as if the re suggestion was a grave insult to his kind.
Shenlian Yingyue couldn’t help but feel a faint twitch of her lips at his reaction. Why did he regard her words with such revulsion?
"Pah! The thought of feasting on the flesh and blood of a race so universally deed the weakest is utterly disgusting. If we’re to indulge in anything, it would be the at of dragons or phoenixes," Shen Xian declared, crossing his arms with a frown, his face contorting slightly in visible distaste.
Shenlian Yingyue was montarily speechless. It beca evident that the demon race held a profound disdain for humans. The fact that the idea of eating human flesh revolted Shen Xian so much was a testant to his sincerity.
"What is your response? We certainly don’t regard you mortals highly," he said sarcastically. What right did such a feeble race have to concern him? He found the notion of even looking down upon them laughable.
Tilting her head slightly, she pondered his words. While harsh, they reflected a bittersweet reality: other races rarely acknowledged human beings.
"What, then, do demons consu apart from fruits and vegetables?" she asked, her curiosity driving her inquiry.
"We thrive on emotions, chaos, fear, greed, and other intangible essences of existence," Shen Xian replied, intrigue lighting up his tone. He seed at ease, a rare comfort for soone of his standing discussing such topics openly.
In the past, no one dared to converse with him like this after recognizing his true identity. Yet, this woman regarded him simply as he was, offering an unexpected sense of normalcy.
"The stronger the negative emotions and desires that living beings radiate, the more potent the spiritual energy becos in the Demon Realm," he elaborated, casting a glance at the gathering demons who watched with interest. Shen Xian paid them no mind.
Shenlian Yingyue’s eyes widened in astonishnt. The abundant and potent spiritual power around her made sense now; it was nearly a hundred tis more intense than anything in the Mortal Realm.
In this kind of environnt, anyone could ascend to beco powerful cultivators. Yet, this spiritual energy was reserved solely for the demon race.
"Master, if anyone from another race were to absorb the spiritual power present in the Demon Realm, their bodies would be overwheld by negative emotions, leading them to lose their sanity, and the repercussions would be dire. Years of hardship and witnessing relentless betrayals have hardened the demons’ hearts, turning them into sothing akin to stone. Therefore, no matter how much dark spiritual energy they consu, it won’t sway their path of cultivation. This dark power was ant for them." Xiao Yun’s sweet voice echoed from within the confines of the small world, acting as a sage guide for her.
She mulled over his words, and a sudden realization struck her: demons sourced their spiritual energy from the negative emotions of other beings, transforming it into dark spiritual energy. This process had forged their emotions and hearts into sothing rather rciless compared to other races.
Yet... she turned to Shen Xian, a wave of complexity washing over her. If demons were so devoid of compassion, what could have compelled him to seek out the experience of loving another?
[The Demon Realm, The Gate of the Royal Palace of the Demon Clan]
Caught in her reflections, she failed to notice the intrigued gazes directed her way by countless demons as she walked beside Shen Xian.
Reality returned sharply as she found herself standing at the grand entrance of the royal palace of the Demon Clan.
If the other edifices in the Demon Realm were extraordinary, this royal palace was an architectural marvel beyond compare, magnificently imposing.
The gates and walls were constructed from dark stones and rocks, each emanating a soft luminosity, suggesting that powerful spells were inscribed upon them to fend off any potential intruders.
Before the palace gates stood nurous royal demon guards, clad in black and gold armor over their flowing black hanfu, exuding an aura of sheer strength.
Though they bore no weapons, they lood with an imposing presence. She couldn’t discern their cultivation levels, but instinct told her they surpassed even the most skilled practitioners of the Crossing Disaster Realm by tenfold.
Her heart raced slightly, yet her expression remained composed. A single misstep here could hasten her eting with the King of Hell. She needed to tread carefully and avoid provoking anyone in this formidable realm.
"Stop right there! Where do these unknown beasts co from? How dare you approach the royal palace?" one of the demon guards shouted, his voice echoing with authority.
The other guards remained still, but the palpable tension in the air and the icy glare in their eyes communicated a fierce warning: any further advances could lead to dire consequences. She hesitated and turned to look at Shen Xian.
A wave of curiosity washed over her for the royal guards. If only they knew that the unknown creature they were threatening was, in fact, their revered Demon Emperor, how would they react?
A subtle smile curled on Shen Xian’s lips as he absorbed the hostile vibes radiating from his royal guards. He stood there immobile, as if savoring a ga yet to unfold.
Before the guards could make a move, an overwhelming pressure descended upon them from Shen Xian, forcing them to their knees. Blood spilled from their mouths, an expression of sheer astonishnt on their faces as they recognized the source of the power.
"Greetings, Demon King Shi and the Upper Rank Demons," they managed to utter, lowering their heads in deference. Questions swirled among them, confusion mingling with apprehension as they wondered why their king would lash out at them.
"Your Majesty, our Emperor," they exclaid in unison, completely ignoring the royal guards and bowing deeply before Shen Xian, leaving the guards in a state of disbelief.
Even Yao, known as Destroyer Dahlia, and Yasha, the cloaked demon, who accompanied Shi Ji and Bi Xue, followed suit, kneeling in reverence.
anwhile, the royal guards, trembling at their earlier misjudgnt, struggled to stifle their exhilaration at the realization that they were in the presence of the legendary emperor, a figure revered and seldom seen by the common demon populace.
Seeing their majestic leader again filled them with a mix of fear and awe, as it was an honor reserved for only the most significant roles within the Demon Realm. Shen Xian rarely graced his subjects with his presence.
