Carrisa's lips curved into a faint smile as the first rays of dawn painted the sky in soft hues of orange and gold. The evacuation of civilians had delayed their attack more than she preferred, but such precautions were necessary. Even if it compromised their elent of surprise, minimizing collateral damage remained essential—not out of compassion, but to avoid complications later.
Her gaze shifted to the Bureau of Intelligence building. Shadows leapt across the rooftops, moving as one with eerie synchronization. The Nightshades had begun their advance, their forms blending with the dim light as they descended toward the target.
The human soldiers stationed outside the building, unaware of the supernatural conflict they were about to face, stirred to life. Spotting the advancing figures, they raised their weapons and barked warnings.
"Halt! Identify yourselves!" one of them shouted.
The Nightshades continued their silent march, ignoring the commands. Their movents were graceful, deliberate, and without hesitation—a stark contrast to the soldiers, who grew increasingly uneasy.
"Open fire!"
Gunshots shattered the morning calm. Bullets whizzed through the air, a lethal storm aid at the advancing figures. Yet, the Nightshades were no ordinary opponents.
With preternatural speed, they evaded the incoming fire, their forms weaving and twisting like shadows caught in a flickering light. So scaled the walls of nearby structures, others darted between vehicles, closing the distance with inhuman agility.
"Bring out the heavy artillery!" a soldier barked, panic seeping into his voice.
Tanks and mounted machine guns ca to life, their deafening roars adding to the chaos. Explosions lit up the battlefield, smoke and debris filling the air. Despite the overwhelming firepower, the Nightshades remained untouchable.
Carrisa observed from her position, arms crossed, her expression calm and calculating. This was the power of her Nightshades—lethal specters honed for battle. No human force could hope to stand against them.
The Nightshades reached the periter in re monts, their weapons flashing in the dim light. Blades and claws tore through steel and flesh alike. The soldiers' resistance crumbled under the onslaught. Their cries of pain and terror echoed through the air, quickly silenced as the Nightshades struck with ruthless efficiency.
Carrisa stepped forward, her heels clicking against the pavent as she approached the battlefield's edge. The chaos had subsided, leaving behind only silence punctuated by the crackle of distant flas. Bodies of fallen soldiers lay strewn across the ground, their blood seeping into the earth.
From the shadows, rcy erged, bowing deeply before her.
"The periter has been secured, Princess. The soldiers have been eliminated, and reinforcents will not arrive in ti to intervene."
Carrisa's violet eyes flickered toward the towering structure before her.
"Good. Ensure no one escapes"
"As you command," rcy said before vanishing into the darkness once more.
Carrisa took a deep breath, her gaze fixed on the Bureau of Intelligence building. This place had been the site of Alicarde's first confrontation as the Reaper. The irony was not lost on her that it now served as the lair of his greatest adversary, Zagarath.
The world does love its cruel twists of fate, she mused.
Her steps were slow and deliberate as she approached the building's main entrance. The door, a massive steel barrier ant to keep intruders out, now stood ajar, its locks and chanisms sliced cleanly through by her Nightshades.
Carrisa paused at the threshold, the faint scent of blood and ozone reaching her senses. Her hand moved to the hilt of her sword, the cold tal reassuring against her palm. She glanced back at the shadows behind her.
"Enter silently," she ordered.
"We will strike without warning. Zagarath has hidden in the shadows for too long—it is ti he faced the light of dawn."
The Nightshades moved in unison, slipping into the building with practiced stealth. Carrisa followed, her posture regal and commanding, a sharp contrast to the cold surroundings.
Inside, the Bureau's pristine hallways had beco a battlefield. Blood sared the walls, and the occasional groan of a wounded soldier echoed through the air. Yet, the Nightshades pressed onward, their focus unwavering.
Carrisa's thoughts lingered briefly on Alicarde. She had wanted him here for this mont—not rely to strike the killing blow, but to confront the demons of his past.
This was his battle to win, she thought, her expression hardening. But if he will not take it, I shall.
Ahead, the elevator doors glead, their polished surface reflecting the dim ergency lighting. Beyond them lay Zagarath's hideout, the top floor where the Strigoi had hidden himself like a rat in a gilded cage.
rcy reappeared at her side.
"The Nightshades have secured the lower levels. Zagarath and his forces remain concentrated above."
Carrisa nodded.
"Then we proceed. Signal the others to maintain their positions and prevent any attempt at escape."
"Yes, my lady."
As rcy vanished once more, Carrisa stepped into the elevator. The doors closed with a soft chi, enclosing her in a reflective silence. She could feel the weight of the mont pressing against her—a culmination of strategy, vengeance, and survival.
"Vindicara" she whispered her truena softly.
The elevator ascended slowly, its chanical hum a steady rhythm against the backdrop of her thoughts. As the numbers ticked higher, she felt a flicker of anticipation stir within her.
When the doors opened, the top floor stretched before her, bathed in an eerie crimson glow. The air was thick with tension, a palpable warning of the battle yet to co.
Carrisa stepped forward, her blade drawn, the light of dawn spilling in through shattered windows behind her.
"Zagarath," she called, her voice cutting through the stillness like a blade. " are you not going to greet your guests.. how rude."
From the shadows, a low chuckle resonated, dark and nacing.
"So the little princess finally graces with her presence," Zagarath's voice taunted.
"I was beginning to think you'd send your lackeys to die in your stead."
Carrisa's grip tightened on her sword as she strode further into the room, her gaze unwavering.
"You mistake patience for weakness, Zagarath. But you will not live long enough to learn the difference."
The Strigoi stepped into the light, his pale skin and crimson eyes a stark contrast to the darkened room. He smirked, fangs glinting as he drew his own weapon.
"Then co, princess," he sneered. "Let us end this charade…. I have waited many moons to kill you."
Carrisa raised her blade, her violet eyes blazing with determination. The dawn had co, and with it, the reckoning.
As their battle began… a massive hum echoed through the city and a towering pillar of light reached the heavens.
Zagarath didn't take his eyes off her.
"It seems the Nexus has appeared… I will be sure to kill you quickly Princess… my prize awaits ."
