Before leaving work, Bai Yiran received a call from Lou Jing, who had been discharged early from the hospital to avoid wasting money and was now recuperating at ho. She asked Bai Yiran if she wanted to co over in the evening.
Bai Yiran agreed without thinking. She certainly didn’t want to go back and face that big devil, Leng Yichen!
Lou Jing’s injuries hadn’t fully healed yet, with her head still wrapped in bandages and bruises on her face. Bai Yiran knew Lou Jing usually didn’t eat well, so she made a special trip to the supermarket before coming to buy a lot of things for her, now she was stocking them into the fridge one by one.
"You bought so much stuff, I won’t be able to finish it. It’ll be wasted if I throw it away," Lou Jing said as she sat on the sofa eating the fruits Bai Yiran had bought.
"Well, you just have to eat it all!" Bai Yiran put the last item into the fridge and turned around to say to Lou Jing, "I’ve sweated a lot today, so I’ll go take a shower first."
"Sure, go ahead! You know where my things are."
When Leng Yichen returned ho, he saw Sister Liu still in the kitchen making Mao’s Braised Pork but didn’t see Bai Yiran anywhere. "Where’s Bai Yiran?"
Sister Liu shook her head, "She hasn’t co back yet. I thought she’d return with you, sir. Didn’t she?"
Leng Yichen looked at his watch, it was almost seven o’clock. Bai Yiran should have left work at five thirty, normally she would be ho by six thirty. Her not being back by now was unusual, and Leng Yichen’s expression darkened.
Sister Liu noticed that Leng Yichen seed to be angry, presumably at Bai Yiran. That afternoon, Leng Yichen especially called Sister Liu to make Mao’s Braised Pork, which Bai Yiran liked, thinking that maybe so food she loved would brighten the little girl’s mood.
But she hadn’t returned!
At Lou Jing’s house, Bai Yiran was still showering when her phone rang.
"Bai Yiran, your phone is ringing!" Lou Jing shouted from outside the door.
"Can you answer it for ?" Bai Yiran yelled from inside.
Lou Jing took the phone out of Bai Yiran’s bag and saw the caller ID was...
Big! Devil!
Who offended Bai Yiran so much that she labeled them Big Devil?
Without much thought, Lou Jing answered the call, "Hello, Big Devil! Bai Yiran is taking a shower!"
Big Devil?
Leng Yichen paused, the voice on the other end wasn’t Bai Yiran’s, but a strange woman’s.
She’s showering... where is she showering?
"I’m Leng Yichen, who are you?" Leng Yichen’s voice was deep and powerful, carrying a sense of cold indignation.
"Leng... Leng Yichen..." Lou Jing was stunned, unable to believe she was speaking to the Leng Yichen of Huai International on the phone, yet her intuition told her it was really him!
Bai Yiran had finished showering and put on Lou Jing’s clothes, stood in front of the mirror, and shouted towards the outside, "Lou Jing, where’s your face mask? Give a piece, I want to put on a mask!"
Quickly, the bathroom door opened, and a piece of hydrating affordable face mask was handed to Bai Yiran.
Bai Yiran accepted the mask, "Thanks, darling! After using the mask, I’ll make sothing nice for you!"
"Darling?"
Suddenly, a chilling and familiar voice sounded, causing Bai Yiran to shiver and have a bad premonition.
She slowly turned around and saw a cold and intimidating Leng Yichen.
"Leng Yichen! What are you doing here!"
Bai Yiran’s hand shook unsteadily, and the mask she held fell directly to the ground. At that mont, she didn’t care to pick it up, but instead stared at Leng Yichen in disbelief.
