At the entrance of the hospital’s inpatient departnt, a Subaru slowly ca to a stop, and there were four n in the car.
A looked at the police car parked outside and cursed casually, "Damn it, there are cops after all!"
B puffed on a cigarette, "No kidding, if there weren’t any cops, we’d have succeeded yesterday!"
C and D’s eyes were sowhat unfocused; it was their first ti doing sothing like this, and they were understandably nervous.
Suddenly A pointed forward and shouted, "Look quickly! Isn’t that Leng Yichen and his wife?"
B squinted and looked over, tossed the still-lit cigarette in his hand, and spat, "Isn’t it just them!"
A’s eyes widened, "Why don’t we abduct them instead? That would be even more valuable, wouldn’t it?"
A’s eyes glinted with a gold hue, as if Leng Yichen and Bai Yiran were walking money machines.
B slapped A on the head, "Are you out of your mind? Leng Yichen is not soone you can just kidnap like that! Have you forgotten how many losses we’ve taken?"
A rubbed his head, sulking and saying nothing.
After Bai Yiran left, Wu Jingjing made a fuss for a while and then fell silent. She lay quietly on the bed staring at the ceiling, cooperating fully when the nurse ca to change her bandages. She showed no dangerous movents or abusive language, and her compliance made her seem quite pitiful. The police, knowing her background, gave her extra care.
Since her injuries weren’t severe, Wu Jingjing didn’t need to stay in the hospital indefinitely—it would be a waste of resources, and with so many people around, sothing unexpected might happen to her.
So, after the nurse applied the last dose of dicine, the police in charge of Wu Jingjing received a notice to take her to a police safe house to rest.
The police bought Wu Jingjing new clothes; it wouldn’t do for her to continue wearing that tattered nightgown.
After changing, Wu Jingjing quietly followed the police, but her eyes kept darting around, seeking a chance to escape.
As they were about to exit the hospital, Wu Jingjing suddenly looked pained. "Officer, my stomach hurts; I need to use the bathroom."
The police stopped, skepticism in their eyes as they looked at Wu Jingjing, "Can you hold it until we get to the residence?"
Wu Jingjing shook her head, sweat covering her forehead, her face pale with pain, "No... my stomach hurts terribly..."
Seeing Wu Jingjing’s twisted, pained expression, which didn’t seem faked, the police rembered their own stomach aches, knowing such sudden pain can’t even be tolerated by adults, let alone a child.
"Alright, let’s take you!"
Granted permission, Wu Jingjing quickly darted into the nearby bathroom.
The police were all male, making it inconvenient for them to enter and wait by the door.
A cleaning lady pushed a garbage cart out of the bathroom and, upon seeing two n standing at the entrance of the won’s restroom, initially paused in surprise. Then her face turned scornful, wondering if they were perverts and whether she should call security.
The police, unnerved by the cleaning lady’s gaze, turned their heads away to avoid her face.
The cleaning lady pushed her garbage cart farther and occasionally looked back at them, still wary.
Ti ticked away minute by minute, with several people entering and exiting the bathroom, yet Wu Jingjing did not co out.
The police gradually sensed sothing was off. Just then, a young nurse erged from the bathroom, and the officers imdiately stopped her.
The young nurse, startled, cried out, "What do you want!" She thought she had encountered hooligans.
The police had no ti to bother with her perception, asking directly, "Is there a teenage girl, about this height, inside the bathroom?"
The police gestured Wu Jingjing’s height, and the young nurse paused, "No, there’s no one inside."
The officers were shocked and rushed into the bathroom, finding it indeed empty!
Wu Jingjing had disappeared!
