Bai Yiran felt sowhat uneasy, as if sitting on pins and needles, with the sensation that her female colleagues in the private room were seeing right through her, all because of Wu Chengzu sitting next to her.
A married woman, known by everyone, sitting next to the man desired by all the single won in the room, yet she viewed this man as a demon, a monster.
In short, Wu Chengzu wasn’t a human!
Yao Zhiqing’s eyes darted between Bai Yiran and Wu Chengzu, a faint smile lingering at her lips, before finally raising her glass to Wu Chengzu, saying, "President Wu, don’t just talk to Yiran, let’s drink!"
"Alright!" Wu Chengzu poured himself a cup of plum wine, lifting his glass as he said, "Let’s all drink together."
Everyone responded to Wu Chengzu’s call, raising their glasses, even Brother Zhou reluctantly joined in, only Bai Yiran uncooperatively picked up a cup of juice.
Everyone turned to look at her, and as Bai Yiran was about to explain, Wu Chengzu spoke up first, "Yiran’s child is still young."
He spoke discreetly, but again reminded everyone that Bai Yiran was currently breastfeeding and couldn’t drink alcohol.
However, on the surface, Wu Chengzu’s words seed to be explaining for Bai Yiran, yet it made others feel even more suspicious.
What exactly was the relationship between Wu Chengzu and Bai Yiran? Not only did he defend her with every word, he even diligently helped her with food. Upon entering, out of all the available seats, he chose to sit directly beside Bai Yiran?
Bai Yiran raised her juice cup, eyes lowered and flashing with disgust. She gripped the cup tightly, feeling uncomfortable, clearly hated the man next to her to the point of wanting him dead, yet could only bear it.
The al didn’t last long, but during this short period, Bai Yiran felt as though a century had passed. For the first ti, she felt her mind was not enough, she had to keep analyzing every word Wu Chengzu said, whether it was intentional or inadvertent. Before she spoke a single word, she had to think in her head if saying this would cause any issues, if it would make him notice anything unusual.
Just as the toast concluded, Leng Yichen’s call ca through, recalling the words Leng Yichen said before, suffer the consequences if not answered, Bai Yiran obediently answered the call.
Wu Chengzu glanced at Bai Yiran, seeing the caller ID, realizing it was Leng Yichen calling.
"Still eating?" Leng Yichen’s voice sounded sowhat impatient and cold.
"Yeah." The noise in the private room was loud, Bai Yiran could only cover her ear.
"Where are you?"
Bai Yiran was taken aback; Leng Yichen’s question was amusing, he clearly knew the answer, "At the restaurant."
"Do I not know you’re at the restaurant? What I ant was where exactly in the restaurant are you?"
Earlier, Sister Liu ntioned on the phone that Leng Yichen hadn’t returned ho, she was puzzled about where he had gone, not expecting him to show up at the restaurant.
"Why did you co? I clearly told you not to co." Bai Yiran whispered softly, covering her mouth.
Leng Yichen’s arrival at this ti was not a good thing, not to ntion the pressure it would put on her colleagues, especially with Wu Chengzu present, encountering Leng Yichen would not lead to any good outco.
"What? Is your husband so shaful?"
With that, Leng Yichen hung up the phone, not giving Bai Yiran a chance to speak further.
As Bai Yiran was pondering what Leng Yichen was up to, the private room door opened again, and there stood Leng Yichen, handso and poised at the entrance, his eyes scanning the room like an eagle, finally landing ominously on Wu Chengzu beside Bai Yiran.
