When the ti cos, the master-disciple relationship will dissolve on its own.

Lu Chang’sheng was about to refuse, but Steward Mo interjected, "Alchemist Lin thinks quite highly of you. If you’re interested, you might want to pay him a visit."

The words Lu Chang’sheng had ready were swallowed right back down.

He’d heard a bit about Alchemist Lin—supposedly during the evaluation he stood up for him, arguing on his behalf, and ultimately rated him as Upper Grade A-.

If it really was this Alchemist Lin, maybe it was worth a shot.

Lu Chang’sheng wasn’t the stubborn type. Becoming the apprentice of a mid-stage Qi Cultivation cultivator with real talent in the Alchemy Dao would definitely help him boost his own alchemy skills.

That afternoon, Lu Chang’sheng made a point to stop by the market to buy so Spirit Tea before paying Alchemist Lin a visit.

Seeing Lu Chang’sheng, Alchemist Lin seed genuinely pleased.

He’d been very satisfied with Lu Chang’sheng’s performance in the assessnt—otherwise, he wouldn’t have given out that A- rating. It was just a pity that Alchemist Lei torpedoed things in the end.

Thinking of this, Alchemist Lin couldn’t help slapping his thigh. "Those guys are so short-sighted! What’s wrong with being consistent and solid?"

Lu Chang’sheng listened quietly. Finally, after a good while, Alchemist Lin spoke. "Would you be willing to beco my disciple?"

"Greetings, Master!"

"Good, good!" Alchemist Lin hadn’t expected Lu Chang’sheng to agree so cleanly. He bead, then started cursing out loud again.

This also gave Lu Chang’sheng a clear picture of his situation in the sect.

Just as he’d suspected, he hadn’t received the respect in the Inner Sect that an Upper Grade C rating deserved.

"Your bone age and cultivation level really are issues, but it’s not impossible for you to make it to Grade One."

"Grade One?"

Lu Chang’sheng was a bit surprised.

"Aren’t I already Grade One?" He’d heard before that anyone who could make pills that were recognized as Grade-quality counted as a Grade One Alchemist.

"Of course not. That’s just what those guys outside say to look good. Here, we only consider you Grade One if you can achieve a Pill Formation success rate over fifty percent."

In other words, Lu Chang’sheng needed to get his Qi Storage Pill formation rate up over fifty percent.

"That should be the Minor Achievent stage."

He understood perfectly.

For a true alchemist, that was a pretty standard threshold.

"Next, I’ll get you familiar with the basic alchemy rules at White Cloud Pharmacy and things you need to watch out for."

"Once you’ve got a handle on those, I’ll start teaching you so of the magic thods involved in alchemy."

Every place has different rules for alchemy. The apprentice phase is designed so that newcors don’t accidentally cause trouble by breaking so rule during practice.

"But before all that, you’ll need to et your sect senior brothers."

Alchemist Lin smiled, leading Lu Chang’sheng to another courtyard to get acquainted with the four disciples he’d already recruited.

Four disciples, now five with Lu Chang’sheng.

The eldest, Huo Ming, was an average-looking cultivator who spoke gently and courteously—seed like he didn’t have much of a temper.

The second, Ji Yuan, was honest-faced and not much of a talker.

The third, Wang Li, was a bit plump, with a look more like a rchant than a cultivator.

The fourth was a female cultivator, with a handful of faint freckles and a sowhat frail fra.

At the first eting, Wang Li was the only one particularly friendly; the others kept it low-key and a little distant.

Lu Chang’sheng didn’t care—when a teacher accepts another disciple, the others naturally have to split the benefits. It was only natural if they weren’t thrilled about it.
