Ever since learning what had happened with Guo Xiaotian and Xie Xiaohuan, both Chu Lingguang and Hei Hu had hoped to one day help Guo Wei go to Wolf Valley Pass, rescue Guo Xiaotian, and bring Xie Xiaohuan to justice.
So now that he was in South City and had heard that Xie Xiaohuan had infiltrated Great Yuan, how could Chu Lingguang pass up the chance to capture him and expose the spy behind him?
He tailed the group of Tianzhu people.
His powerful Spiritual Perception System allowed him to quickly discern that the mbers of this group were, at most, at the Qi Sea Great Success realm.
The scholarly arts were for the poor, the martial path for the rich.
With his current strength, Chu Lingguang could already dominate an entire county. Even Ge Jinxiong—so famous in South City that Qu Qingcheng had personally invited him over—was only at the sa realm.
There weren’t many Martial Artists in this world to begin with.
It wasn’t as if every group of Martial Artists you t had soone at the Qi Sea Perfection realm.
However, even though none of the Tianzhu people were as strong as Chu Lingguang, their combined power was not to be underestimated. Chu Lingguang dared not let his guard down.
He suppressed his aura, deliberately kept his distance, and followed cautiously behind them.
They headed out of South City, in the direction of Jin City.
The Qiling Governor’s Mansion region was rich with waterways, including a route between South City and Jin City. But the group of Tianzhu people didn’t take it. Instead, they traveled on foot toward Jin City at a rapid pace, as if afraid they’d be too late to et the person they were expecting.
And so, Chu Lingguang left South City with them.
He glanced back at the bustling, magnificent city of South City before resolving to press on. ’I have to confirm if that person is Xie Xiaohuan, no matter what. It would be best if I could capture him. But even if I can’t, I need to pinpoint his location and report back to Guo Wei.’
Leaving the city so late at night, Chu Lingguang had a premonition of danger, but the temptation of finding Xie Xiaohuan was too great. He couldn’t help but continue tailing them.
The group eventually reached the main road, traveled along it for a while, and then plunged into the mountains lining its side.
At this, Chu Lingguang hesitated.
’Xie Xiaohuan is a fugitive wanted by the Court. If he’s snuck into Great Yuan, of course he’d be secretive. Setting up a rendezvous in the forest would be perfectly normal.’
After a mont’s thought, Chu Lingguang continued to follow the group, using the Celestial Master Technique to conceal himself as he entered the mountain forest.
「About a quarter of an hour later.」
’Sothing’s wrong.’
’There’s a problem.’
’Xie Xiaohuan is a fugitive wanted by the Court, and he’s the key to finding the spy. If he could sneak into Great Yuan without the Court even knowing, how could these Tianzhu people possibly know about it?’
’And even if they were working with him, would Xie Xiaohuan really reveal his identity and location to them?’
’Besides, the spy’s identity is a mystery that not even the Court has been able to solve. Why would it be exposed so easily?’
’Most importantly, why would a group of Tianzhu people be the ones to leak this information? And if they’re all from Tianzhu, why aren’t they speaking their own language?’
The belated realization sent a cold sweat down Chu Lingguang’s back.
He imdiately employed his Celestial Master Technique.
He was like a sleeping pheasant in the tall grass.
The night was pitch-black, and the mountain forest echoed with the chirps of insects and the roars of wild beasts. While this wasn’t the Hundred Thousand Mountains, wild animals were common, and even a few powerful Demon Beasts would occasionally appear.
’Iron Wolf Eagles.’
Just then, while hiding in the grass, Chu Lingguang saw two Iron Wolf Eagles erge from the forest. They circled overhead, appearing to search for sothing.
Iron Wolf Eagles had exceptionally sharp eyes, able to spot the slightest movent even from thousands of ters in the sky.
Hidden in the grass, Chu Lingguang used the Celestial Master Technique to mask his presence, making his aura fluctuations resemble those of a pheasant sleeping in the grass.
In addition to their sight, Iron Wolf Eagles could use their powerful Perception Power to track a human’s aura. After circling for a while, the two birds flew away from the mountain forest.
A while later.
The sa Tianzhu people who had entered the forest earlier now ca running out.
Several n in black followed them, their eyes fixed on the Iron Wolf Eagles’ movents.
One of the black-robed n said, "Are you sure you ntioned Xie Xiaohuan?"
"We ntioned him, several tis in fact," one of the Tianzhu people replied.
"Right by the riverbank?" the black-robed man asked again.
"Yes, everything went according to plan."
The Tianzhu man nodded again.
"That’s strange, then. If he heard the na Xie Xiaohuan, it’s impossible he wouldn’t have followed."
The black-robed man was very puzzled.
"Could it be that they ntioned Xie Xiaohuan so frequently that it made Chu Lingguang suspicious?" another black-robed man asked.
"Even if he was suspicious, his personality wouldn’t let him just drop it. He would have at least grabbed a few of them for a thorough interrogation," the first black-robed man shook his head.
"Then there are only two possibilities. Either Chu Lingguang’s Spiritual Sense isn’t as powerful as we thought, and he didn’t hear their conversation, or he sensed the danger and hid himself beforehand," the other black-robed man said.
"Search! We have to drag him out. We absolutely cannot let him get away."
The first black-robed man agreed.
He had investigated Chu Lingguang’s past in order to set this trap. He knew Chu Lingguang was the type to repay his debts and would never ignore a lead on Xie Xiaohuan. He would have to investigate it thoroughly.
Even if the way the Tianzhu people ntioned Xie Xiaohuan was suspicious, he would still investigate it diligently. It was a matter that could determine whether Guo Xiaotian could leave Wolf Valley Pass ahead of schedule.
"Yes!"
Just like that, the dozen or so black-robed n and the handful of Tianzhu people fanned out, searching the mountain forest for Chu Lingguang. Waves of Spiritual Sense Fluctuations swept across the area.
