"WHOOSH!"

Chu Lingguang gently waved his palm, drawing on a sliver of Wind and Wave Power to disperse the drifting rain and mist.

Putting the matter aside, he once again used the Wind and Wave Power to strengthen his Qi Sea, causing the luminous Gang Shield around his Dantian Qi Sea to solidify.

Chu Lingguang knew that this radiant Gang Shield within him could protect his Dantian Qi Sea, preventing it from being shattered by external forces, which would cause him to lose all his cultivation and beco a cripple.

「Three days passed in a flash.」

Today, the Shuiyu Gang was making a grand display, preparing for a life-or-death battle with the Turkic people on the Canal.

The gang’s master, Qu Qingcheng, waited at the shipyard for an honored guest.

Behind him, several hundred gang mbers stood ready. Qu Qingcheng had already given the order: if they could drive the Turkic people out of the Canal, their monthly stipends would be doubled. Their wives and daughters would also be cared for by the gang, given work at the shipyard, or even helped to buy property in the city.

Lately, the Turkic people had been arrogant and domineering. The ships leaving the shipyard were frequently capsized on the Canal. Many shipowners and rchants had co demanding justice, and even compensation for their losses. Everyone was holding in a bellyful of anger, desperate to get back at the Turkic people.

But Master Qu Qingcheng understood the principle of capturing the leader to defeat the bandits. Only by taking down the Turkic leader first could they crush the rest in one blow and avoid imnse losses for the gang.

Finally, the honored guest arrived.

"HYAH!"

Two young n on Ferghana Horses cleared the way, escorting a luxurious carriage that followed behind them. Another dozen or so n trailed after the carriage.

Qu Qingcheng’s face lit up with joy.

He hurriedly led the gang’s leaders down from the ship to greet them.

The carriage stopped.

Soone from behind placed a mounting stool beneath the carriage. The curtain was lifted, and a silver-haired old man stepped down, rolling two iron balls in his hand.

His complexion was ruddy, and his voice was full of vigor.

Beside him stood a burly man, holding a 1.5-ter-long Nine-Ring Saber.

"Master Ge, we’ve been eagerly awaiting your arrival."

Qu Qingcheng greeted him with a broad smile.

The silver-haired elder was nad Ge Jinxiong. He was an old master from the South City area with four Martial Arts Scholars as his disciples. Although none of them had passed the Imperial Examination, he himself had cultivated for many years and possessed profound Inner Strength. He was a renowned figure throughout South City—a man of great importance.

Furthermore, he had once served in the army, starting as a Captain. He had been on the battlefield and killed Turkic people. Now retired and living out his years in South City, he was frequently visited by many powerful Martial Arts experts.

Qu Qingcheng had paid a hefty price to invite Master Ge here.

"Master Qu, for a re bunch of Turkic scum, you’ve raised such a fuss. Anyone would think you were about to join in an attack on the Turkic Kingdom."

Master Ge said in a low voice.

"Master Ge, there’s sothing you don’t know. Today, my Shuiyu Gang is going to settle things with the Turkic people once and for all. If you can’t take them down..."

Qu Qingcheng lanted.

He had been filled with frustration lately.

"Hmph. What do you an, ’if I can’t’? Back in the day, I charged into Turkic territory with General Zhenyuan! Andre was just a little brat back then. Do you really think these Turkic people can run wild in front of ?"

Master Ge said angrily.

Though he had been retired for many years, the killing intent in his heart remained.

The re ntion of the Turkic people reminded him of his fallen comrades, filling him with righteous indignation. He had always been against the Court establishing diplomatic ties with the Turkic Kingdom. He especially couldn’t stand that the Turkic people were given special protections after entering the pass, allowing them to lord it over everyone in the South City Waters.

Otherwise, Qu Qingcheng would never have been able to persuade him to co.

"This junior misspoke. Master Ge, please calm your anger."

Qu Qingcheng hurriedly apologized.

Master Ge was stronger than him and was also a retired Military General. In the South City area, he was a famous and respected figure. The mbers of the Shuiyu Gang had never dared to set foot in Master Ge’s territory. Now that Qu Qingcheng needed his help, he was even more careful not to be presumptuous, acting with caution the entire ti, terrified of offending him.

"Since I’ve agreed to help you, I won’t let you down. Let’s go. I want to see if today’s Turkic people have eaten the hearts of bears and the galls of leopards."

Master Ge’s voice was like a great bell, his presence as imposing as a rainbow. He was both showing off his profound Inner Strength and boosting the morale of the Shuiyu Gang mbers.

"Excellent! With your word, the Shuiyu Gang is saved!"

Qu Qingcheng was greatly encouraged.

"This way, please."

He had already prepared a boat. From the docks here, they could enter the Canal directly.

"Master, Young Master Chu is here."

Just then, Guan Shijun—the minor leader who had previously blocked Chu Lingguang’s path on the inner river and brought him here—ran over to report.

"Who is with him?"

Qu Qingcheng asked hurriedly.

"He’s alone."

Guan Shijun replied.

"Oh. Tell him to co over quickly."

Qu Qingcheng was a little suspicious, but since Chu Lingguang had co at this ti, he was surely here to help.

A mont later, Chu Lingguang arrived before Qu Qingcheng and the others, carrying his Nine-foot Tyrant Spear.

"Master Qu, my apologies for the wait."

Chu Lingguang said, cupping his fist.

"Young Master Chu, I didn’t expect you to co."

Qu Qingcheng said with a smile, clasping his hands.

"And this is?"

Master Ge frowned.

Chu Lingguang looked sowhat familiar to him.

"Allow to introduce you. Young Master Chu, this is Master Ge. He once served in the Border Defense Army and followed General Zhenyuan on a charge into Turkic territory. He is now a Martial Artist renowned in all directions. He has had four Martial Arts Scholars as disciples, all of whom are serving the Court with utmost loyalty."

Qu Qingcheng introduced them.

"This junior greets you, Senior."

Upon hearing this, Chu Lingguang didn’t dare to be disrespectful. Anyone who had followed General Zhenyuan to charge into Turkic territory was crowned with glory. On top of that, with four Martial Arts Scholar disciples, the old man could be considered highly respected and of great moral standing.

Master Ge nodded slightly, still sizing up Chu Lingguang.

"Master Ge, Young Master Chu is the disciple of Master Guo from Baiyang County. He took first place in this year’s South City Daoist Examination. He is acquainted with several of my friends in the martial world, and he is a loyal, righteous, and good-hearted person. In two months, he will be participating in the Provincial Martial Arts Examination."
